My client wants me to combine elements of 2 designers. What do I tell them?

You'll need to gently inform your client that these are designers that work independently of each other and get paid only if their design is chosen and you are not able to combine their efforts since they do not work as a collaborative effort.
The best option is to have the client choose the one they like the best as the winner and then if there is an element of another design that "they just can't live without", you may contact that designer and negotiate a payment for that individual concept of their design.
Alternatively you could pay them both the amount you are offering to the designer you choose to work with, receive both designs, and combine them. |
