Hi,
I need a new logo for my company, www.mztools.com. Here is the project summary:
- What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
"MZ-Tools"
- What type of product or service do you offer?
An add-on for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (a development tool from Microsoft)
- How long have you been in business?
Since year 2000
- What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I want a professional and atractive logo
- When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 13, although it could be extended
- Please describe your existing audience
Software developers
- Who would you like to add to your audience?
The sense of a professional web site and tool
- What type of logo would you like?
The dimensions must not exceed the current ones: 371 pixels width x 61 pixels height. It should have an image to the left, the "MZ-Tools" title, and the tag line "Productivity add-ins to make your everyday programming life easier" in small font.
- Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
The logo must match the current blue background RGB=0,0,128. I would it to use several colors, the ones of the Visual Studio logo (http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/)
- Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I would like an image to the left with TrueColor, gradients, etc. Something impressive.
- What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Professionalism.
- What is your tagline or slogan?
"Productivity add-ins to make your everyday programming life easier"
- Where will your new logo be used?
The logo will be in the center of the header of the web site.
Thanks,
Carlos

Here's one from me with an example of how it will look on your website.

What happened to my post?? :(

Hi Medigraph,
The title "mz-tools.com" should be "MZ-Tools", and with some other font face and color. About the image, I would like something with gradients, and preferably with curves, some like the one of this website (just to give an idea): http://www.feedforall.com/ or the logo of this very site designoutpost.com.
Thanks,
Carlos

I donīt know what happened to your message, but I saw it last night. I saw the image with the four "MZ" rotated, but I would prefer something with curves (see my other post). The "MZ" letters can appear in the image (although it is not mandatory) but once is enough :-)
Thanks,
Carlos

Hi Medigraph,
The part ".com" should not appear in the title, and I would like a more sofisticated image, like the one that I posted.

Hi Taldo,
Your logo is more close to the idea that I have. I would like some variations:
- The whole logo and text should have a blue background RGB=0,0,128 to see how they fit with the current background of my web site (www.mztools.com).
- I would like the logo to use, say, 4 colors (like the ones of Visual Studio http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/), with gradients.
- I would like the tag line ("Productivity add-ins...") below the "MZ-Tools" title.
- I would like the "MZ-Tools" title with a thicker font, maybe round borders, and with 2 colors: one for "MZ" and other for "Tools". I have seen some logos like that and I think I like them. The hyphen "-" between them can show a transition between the colors.

Hi CofeehouseStudio,
Your logo is a good base too, but see my comments to Taldo's one about:
- The blue background
- The title font and colors
- The colors of the logo: could you use four colors, say, blue, red, yellow and green? For example, each of the two semi-circles could use one for the top part and another for the bottom part, with gradients, like the Windows logo (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/default.mspx)

About the logos:
- Thinkkre8tiv: Thanks for your design. I would prefer a logo with curves, 4 colors and some gradients. The title should be "MZ-Tools" and not "MZTools.com" (it is a web oriented towards the product, not to the company).
- Taldo:the logo looks good now.
- Cofeehousestudio: the logo seems good too, just add some bright to the center of the lower circle, like the yellow bright of the upper one.
To all:
- The whole thing should have 61 pixels of height at most, so you may need to make the logo smaller or rotate it.
- I would like to see more samples of fonts for the title ("MZ-Tools"). I like the letter "M" with vertical lines, not as an inverse "W". Use two colors, one for "MZ" and other for "Tools", one of them can be some light blue.
- I would like the phrase "Productivity add-ins to make your everyday programming life easier" in a single line, maybe in white forecolor, without antialiasing (it blurs too much in my opinion). If the phrase is too large you can:
* Remove the "everyday" word
* Change "add-ins" by "tools"
* Use "Tools for an easier everyday programming life" (if that sounds well in English, I am not native speaker).
Thanks,
Carlos

I modified the tagline; see if it's OK.
Also, the height can be scaled once the design is selected. These are a little "taller" so you can see the detail.

Hi CoffeehouseStudio,
Yes, much better. The image and tag line are OK now, and the colors of the title too.
- Can you use the same font for the title that you used previously (message #13), except the "M" (it should have vertical lines)?
- Can the hyphen show a transition between the two blue colors rather than using a third color?
Thanks,
Carlos

Hi CoffeeHouse,
I am requesting a second opinion and we would like to see your logo of the message #13, which used green for the lower circle, just adding some yellow brightness to it keeping the green color. After my message #17 you added the yellow brightness but you removed the green color.
Thanks,
Carlos

Hi Taldo,
The logo is OK, could you make the "MZ-Tools" title bigger and maybe with some other font?
Thanks,
Carlos

Hi Carlos,
I'm not 100% sure this is what you wanted b/c I had done those other edits as well. If not, let me know.

Hi,
It has been a tough decision but finally the winner is the logo of Message #27 by Taldo.
Thank you everyone for participating.

I meant logo of message #22 (by Taldo), not #27 which does not exist.

Ok, it is message #27 (by Taldo) when using the Linear Mode in the displays modes. I switched to other mode and messages were re-numbered. I find the user interface a little confusing....

Taldo,
One revision that I would like is the "MZ-Tools" title bigger, until the top of the image to its left, for example.
Thanks,
Carlos

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. We had a death in the family and had to go out of town. I will get your revision done today. Sorry for any inconvenience.

how is this?

Hi Taldo,
First of all, I'm sorry about that death. I didnīt know what was going on... The logo is quite perfect now and everybody likes it. It is exactly what I was looking for. There is only a tiny adjustment that I want: the space between the words "your" and "programming" in the tag line seems to have a couple of extra pixels, compared to other separations like "make" and "your", doesnīt it? So, it you can put closer those words, you can already send me the files to the e-mail address of the Contact section of my web site www.mztools.com
Thanks,
Carlos
