I would like to post a contest for a new logo for my business. The logo that I am currently using is not original. It comes from a graphic that I obtained from a graphics program. I would like my new logo to be original but similar in theme... ie must include a bird, a cat and a dog. I like the one that I have in that the pets have a "cutsie" look to them. I am attaching my current log to this post. I also would like the main color theme to be the same blue as this is the color scheme on my website: http://www.feathersnpaws.com I would like to post this contest for 2 weeks making it end on Sunday, July 27th.
Looking forward to seeing some great results!

I'd also like to add that I need my new logo to be the same size as the existing one on my website: http://www.feathersnpaws.com
Also would like it to be fairly simple so I will be able to use it for embroidery etc.
Thank you,
Marianne

Hey Terri! I knew you'd never steer me wrong and I'm psyched to see what these talented folks can do for me! BTW.... I was thinking I should have noted to the artists that I was wondering if it would be possible to sort of keep a resemblence of the same characters in my current logo.. the dog, cat and bird but in a different design. Just a thought. :)

Hey all you designers out there! Is there any more information, ideas or help I can give you to help gather some interest in my logo contest? Was I being too restrictive? I did up my contest prize to $75. Has there been too many pet sitter businesses and you're bored with us? :o Anyone have any questions?

Yes Julie! It really is! I like it! I'm thinking maybe more blue's too? Possibly even all blue? Or blue and black?

I like the top one Julie. I also like the colors and the lettering on the side. I like the font too. I wonder if you could change the markings on the cat somehow. I'm not crazy about the pointed markings... reminds me of a lizzard. :-)

I like the color of the font on the top one and the white on the dogs chest on the bottom one and the black outlining the cats spots on the bottom one too.

I think I was being a little too restrictive in my idea for my logo. I specified that I would like a dog, a cat and a bird. I'd like to open that to what ever ideas you designers can come up with to fit my business name and web site: http://www.feathersnpaws.com
The only thing I do need is for the size to remain the same as the current logo I have on my site.

Just so you know--most of us can supply you with a logo you can resize freely. Often I post them larger so that you can see the detail.

Hello,
I don't tend to recycle my designs as I like the challenge of creating something new and unique, but I thought today could be a recycling day (some might call it being lazy).
Anyway does the the link to a design I did for another pet sitting contest catch your eye? I do have another idea just working on the characters but not sure when I'm going to have it completed..

(no problem on adding a feathered friend)
Love to have your thoughts

Hello,
I should have read the brief properly the 1st time, you mentioned that it had to be the same size as your current logo and also simple for embroidery.
Well I've made some changes to the artwork I showed you, love to have your thoughts.

Hello Marianne,
I decided to go with a little more "professional" look.
With big "blocks" of colour, this design would suit embroidery,
vinyl lettering, screenprinting, offset printing all equally well.
As it stands, it's a single-colour design.
(PMS 281 100% and 85%) <-- pantone matching system (for ink colours) doesn't mean anything right now.
Your comments would be appreciated.
Thank you,
-Kimber.

2SQUARE... I do like the first one a lot. Probably a little to complicated for embroidery though. I'm thinking 2 colors would be best too. Once you get into more colors things such as embroidery and magnets get costly.

Kimber I do like the single color design but not sure about the block look. The graphics of the pets are great but not quite the look I'm going for. I like a more "cutesy" look to the animals. Something that envokes the warm n' fuzzy feeling from people.

Oooh Christen I really do like that one! I like the Font on the top one. The only thing I can see I'd want changed... is the bird. I'm not sure people would be able to recognize it as a bird. Could you make him leaning inward against the dog and cat too? But not have his feathers blowing in the wind? :-)

Hehe thanks all of you! So you want me to make the bird lean against the doggy and kitty, right? hehe It was supposed to be sliding down the line but I guess it does look like wind. Oh and will you be needing a larger size than this one or is this good?

Christian I think the size is good. Yea... I'm just concerned that at quick glace one may not recognize it as a bird. I think it should be recognizable from a distance AND at quick glance since I'll be using it on my car as well.
Oh... one more thing... can you change the cats face a little.... perhaps make it more round.. take out the fur lines. Make him be alittle softer looking? Am I making ANY sense at all? :-)
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with! I'm liking this!

Hey there! Here's the fixed version. I made the animals larger which in turn makes everything taller and doesn't stretch as much to the sides. If you want them smaller and everything else wider like it was before just say the word! Sorry I took so long, it's that I had to redo everything in another program so you can resize freely without losing quality. If you want the animals changed again feel free to ask ;)

:lol2: I am really happy you like it! I guess now we have to wait for Palmer to see your post. I'm new to DesignOutpost so I'll just wait and see what he says.
I'll upload the vector file and a flat file to my website so you can download them. The vector is the original, so that one can be resized freely and won't lose quality. If you ever need to print the logo, and you want the size larger than the flat one, just use the vector.
Thanks Mike!

Hi Christian.. I just had another pet sitter tell me that the word pet sitting is a little too small... especially when I put it on my car signs. Is it too late to make that bigger?
Also what is a Vector file? Can I have it in jpg format?
-Marianne
Christian

Hey Marianne, sure thing, I'll get right on it. :)
A vector file is a type of of file in which anything you create inside it can be resized freely and won't lose quality. So let's say you want to put a billboard with your logo, it won't lose quality when resized that big. A jpg and any other type of file, if enlarged too much, then it starts to get blocky and doesn't look too good. Vectors are mainly used for print and jpgs are used for web. So if the life size version for your car is bigger than the jpg you see here, then you should take the vector file to the print shop.

Ok Christian... got it on the Vector. One more question. Will I be able to view it in most graphics programs? The one I mostly use is ACDsee.
Thanks!

Congrats Christian on your first win. Send me a private message with your PayPal email address and I'll send you the prize money.
Thanks Marianne, right now you simply work out any fial revisions with Christian and he will send you the files.
Christian, please be sure to provide at least a 300dpi high resolution file as well. That is the one she will need for the printer.
