Ok, after much hassle from my friends and workmates I've decided to open up my options for a completely different style of logo than what I had sketched out. I've added another $75.00 to bring the prize up to $200.00. Thankyou to everyone who has participated so far. I look forward to seeing your creativity.

Existing Idea

OK. I spent a bit of time over the weekend playing on PhotoShop and came up with pretty much what I wanted for my original idea except for the middle wood part.

Here is the .psd file (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=57997&stc=1) to use.

I would like to see some options for the wood center. So far Kassi has come the closest as to what I like. Please keep the floor lines similar layout to what I have in the file.

New Ideas

This is what we are most interested in. We'd like to see what other creative ideas you can give us.

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Woodsmith Hardwood Floors Ltd. The "hardwood floors ltd" should be smaller and underneath "Woodsmith".

What type of product or service do you offer?

We sand and refinish hardwood floors.

How long have you been in business?

16 years.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

Look a little more upscale and established.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

April 7th.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.

Homeowners - middle to high end.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

More of the same.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

We'd like to try something a little cleaner and crisper than the idea I put forth before.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Something that will go with and stand out on the colors of our new website (http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=57978&stc=1) we're developing.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

I really like the simple look of this logo with the abstract leaf. Something along that line would be good.

http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=57979&stc=1

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Something that says we have been and we're going to be around for a long time. Shows we are a high quality company and that we are also on the cutting edge of new adaptions in our industry. (ie dustless sanding technology and enviromentally friendly finishes)

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

That we are a dependable company, have high quality craftsmanship and are at the leading edge of our trade.

Where will your new logo be used?

Website, business cards, shirts, truck, stationary etc.

Competitive Positioning:

What sets you apart from your competitors?

We offer 99% dust free refinishing along with very high quality work and very friendly, hassle free service. We also specialize in restoring 100+ year old houses.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

Beautifully restored hardwood floors - 99% dust free.

Thanks guys and gals,

Bluey

A modified version of your original to promote some high class and clients.

Wow thinkkre8tiv. I really, really like this!

Just a few things I would like to try with it. Could the knot in the middle be a little less bold and thick. I would like to have "LTD" placed after "HARDWOOD FLOORS". Also, we were actually established in 1989, I mislead you above. And one last thing, could the light brown line around the edge of the square WOODSMITH part be the same thickness as it is around the inside of the circle.

Very impressed - Thanks again.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the effort, it's very much appreciated. We are really impressed with the way thinkkre8tiv has taken our concept to the next level. In fact we would like to leave our original concept alone for now as is and get you all to focus on new fresh ideas.

Gig: Looks good for now. Thank-you very much. Please see paragraph above. Can't wait to see what you can come up with.

Thinkkre8tiv: Awesome! No more changes at the moment. If we go with you there will be some very minor changes we can do later. I'm willing to see any new concepts if you have them though.

Medigraph: Looks good as well. No more changes but please also see paragraph above. Love to see some of your new ideas.

I better get back to work...

Bogglins: Thanks for joining in! I like the cleanness of your design. Do you have any ideas for something completely different to my original idea?

Aaron: Welcome! Thanks for giving us something different. It doesn't grab us though unfortunately. Please try something else if you can.

Thank you everyone for the hard work. Keep them coming!

Thinkkre8tiv: Version 3 is amazing! I'm having the hardest time deciding which one of your logos I like better. This one says without a doubt what it is we do, plus it looks really high class as well as showing that we've been around a long time. Really well done in getting inside my head and seeing my vision, thankyou so much. This one is my wifes favorite so far. I'll run it by the crew tommorrow and see what they say. The only thing that we would change on this one if we choose it is to move the second butt joint (from the top) on the floor down one row and up a bit. How you have it there is a big no-no in our trade :D

Bogglins: Thanks for all the different versions. It just doesn't grab us like some of the others, sorry but thanks so much for your efforts.

Medigraph: Not quite what we are looking for either - thanks again though.

Thinkkre8tiv: Thanks for trying something cleaner and modern. It just didn't give me that 'Wow! I love it!' feeling like your other ones. The effort is very appreciated though.

Thinkkre8tiv: Version 3 was very well received by the crew and several customers of ours! Could I get you to make a few minor changes to it just to make sure its the one we want?

Could you please adjust the floor pattern like I've sketched below...

http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=58189&stc=1

Also could the writing "Hardwood Floors Ltd" and "Est 1989" be in the same color light beige as in version 2.

Thanks so much.

Thank you everyone who participated in our contest! All the efforts and designs were very much appreciated.

We have decided to award Thinkkre8tiv as the winner - we all love the logo and think you are very talanted! Palmer please pay the man.

Version 6 is very, very close to what we want, just a few changes. Could the 2nd panel where you took out the line blend a little better so it doesn't look like a cut and paste and we'd like the "Est 1989" to be the same color as the border. Other than that its perfect! I'll be away from tonight till Monday morning so I'll check back then.

Thanks again everyone, we'll be back for stationary design next week.

Bluey.
