Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
CubsHub or CubsHub.com depending on the design of logo. Also Cubs Hub (with space is not ruled out)

What type of product or service do you offer?
A fan base for fellow Chicago Cubs fans. We talk baseball in general, but mainly Cubs. We have player interviews scheduled, offer stats, player profiles and scouting reports of young players.

How long have you been in business?
Site has been edited over the past year, but 6 months solid with visitors. (this week is the first time the site has been open during baseball season.)

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A couple things:
#1, keep MLB off my back, my current logo, is borderline (at best) against copyright laws.
#2, get and stay out of the "blog" image, the logo is step one of a TOTAL site overhaul which will include layout and script to manage the site.

What are your long term goals?
Long term goals would be to become the top Cubs fan site. out the gates, in my opinion we were in the top 5 simply because of the writers I recruited to join the site, but the #1 spot will one day be ours.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 17th*
* Or until we find the PERFECT design, we will give time to see others, but be aware of the fact that we are looking for the perfect logo, when we see it... we will know, and react on it to save the other designers time.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Fans of baseball, mostly of the Chicago Cubs. But I would say a higher % of males, and USA based visitors, We currently are listed on various Baseball forums, and websites so we receive incoming clicks from those sites.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
More fans, we strive to provide information for fellow baseball fans, so it would be nice to have more readers to report to.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I am not sure on this one, I just want one that we can add to shirts, business cards and other various places. Fun? perhaps. But keep in mind we are wanting to create a professional image that makes us look like more that a group of kids doing a hobby site.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
There is no requirement, but keep in mind it is a Cubs fan site, and will be most likely have the color scheme to match their colors.
Chicago Cubs team colors are red and blue, with a taste of white. here is a link to the history of logos for the team as well:
http://www.sportslogos.net/team.php?t=54
With that said, we would not look professional with a pink and purple logo.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Not required by I wanted to give 3 images that show the history of Wrigley Field (Cubs home field)

#1 - Ivy
http://www.ajclay.com/PTC/pictures/268.jpg

#2 - Man ran - Scoreboard
http://www.ajclay.com/PTC/pictures/269.jpg

#3 - Wrigley Field Sign
http://www.ajclay.com/PTC/pictures/270.jpg

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? This is a quality driven, professional, service oriented business. We want to almost have the respect as a Newspaper would have, we want our readers to remember our site as a resource to their research on the Cubs team.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Currently we do not have one. but if you have a clever one... add it in and we shall see.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We are not a fly by night site, we are here for the long haul, and we can provide the content to keep you coming back.

Where will your new logo be used?
Website, advertising, business cards, on vehicles, hats and shirts ..

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/
Cheap, not too friendly for any other uses other than what it is being used for on the site...

http://chicagocubsonline.com/
copyright infringement

http://www.thecubdom.com/
Nope not digging it at all..

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Professional image. Now you understand, our logo will put us on a different level than the others, and that will only be the start.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Professional Quality

I know that there are contest that are ending daily, but I wanted to bump this contest back to the top.

Mainly to let everyone know, that even though the original deadline was set for 3 weeks I would like to have that shortened to speed up the process on getting the logo finished and ready for the next step of our sites remodeling.

we can not do anything else until the logo is set.

So I welcome all entries, and once they start rolling I am sure I will settle down a bit, but til then I am starting to stress, and begining to fear everyone here is White Sox or Cardinals fans... please..

Say it aint so...

Paula23:
Version 1 - is very nice! Let me think about it a bit to see if I would like any edits on that one.. But like I said, VERY nice way to start the contest!

Version 2 - Another one that is nice. hmz, I wonder what the logo would look like if the background was red brick. Obviously when this is done the red color in the current version might need to be edited to not blend into the background color...

http://www.stormvision.net/images/preview/red_brick.jpg

Just a thought, I just woke up, so I might have more feedback in a bit.

:) thanks for entering!

Version 3 - Ehh it looked better in my mind... Something about it just doesn't sit right... not sure.
But it has to do with the color scheme... because the black and white one looks NICE!

:) thanks!

nhr - 2 things.
#1 I fear this style might be "too tall" it looks nice on the shirt, but for a website logo, it is a bit too tall.

#2. it is CubsHub.com not ClubsHub.com ;)

Paula23 - Version 3 -
Perhaps making the red brick a bit lighter... and the blue more of a color from the Cubs current logo?

Or even edit the font color to white, outlined in blue..

Not sure how that will look, just a thought. Let me know.

can we see it on a shirt?
just to get a feel.

Also perhaps a different shade of red/blue..

this blue for some reason looks odd... did you get it off of the cubs logo?

Hello

04-12-2006, 09:49 AM
Fabian at first glance, I like this one alot, but the more I think about it I think the cursive font is a bit too formal.

Any chance to see it with a font variation?

also bold the word "Hub"

Thank you for the feedback. I am full of typing mistakes here...

That was version 3.0 and now is version 3.1 (with changed shade of red/blue). Red color was just pure red, and blue was from your site, yes :)

I like this design ALOT!

Can you please add it to the shirt I listed, as well as shrink it down and show it in the corner of the current layout @ www.cubshub.com

this is just see the quality of the logo when it is resized to be used on the website..

Thanks!

once again, it is a top 3 of all shown so far... VERY nice!

Perhaps another variation..

instead of the red square behind the ball what about a home plate..

and we are thinking of a discolored baseball..

http://images.heritagecoin.com/images/HNAI/75/45091/45091015005d.jpg

Not this dirty, but one that is "aged" since the homeplate is going to be white... the ball will need to stick out a bit.

can we see the logo with each..

both bats blue
both bats red?
Both bats a darker different shade of brown...

ajclay
04-12-2006, 12:41 PM
.

Can we see the logo you did on post #20?

with a bit of ivy added to the brick?

it might not have to be full of ivy... but a decent addition of the green ivy might give it a new taste..

thoughts?

I am hoping you did not forget about our contest..

I was looking forward to seeing what you had to offer to this contest.

Also, any others are welcome.. the more the better for us.. we are so not sure what we want to have the more ideas, the better!

Thanks!

ajclay
04-12-2006, 02:16 PM
I know I am killing you with revision request.. but...

:)

anyway you can make the border of the home plate black...

also...

on a different variation can you make the laces of the ball red.. to see what effect that gives.. (showing one with baseball like it currently is, and one with a red lace... remember to age the laces as well)

Thanks again for all your hard work!

ajclay
04-12-2006, 02:33 PM

As I said in the first thread:

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
A couple things:
#1, keep MLB off my back, my current logo, is borderline (at best) against copyright laws.

I am sorry, but MLB just settled a multi million dollar law suit because a Children's Charity had an "A" and "C" that interlaced as their company logo, like one of their teams.
Children's Charity!!!! and they sue them... WOWOWO
With that said, the "C" in your logo is TOO much like the teams logo. Thanks for the effort, but unfortunately, it will not work for us.

:(

Sorry.

v1 Home plates forming a "hub"

Interesting, but the "swoosh" is overplayed on the internet..

We are looking for something more original for our logo..

Thanks though.

BY THE WAY!

I think your company's logo is one of the nicer one I have seen in ages... something about it just jomps out at me..

Great work!

AND an extra thanks to the few that I had make revisions to their original design, thanks for the time put into the design!

It looks outstanding.

Remember the ball is outlined with black, and the threads of the bal is in the deep red color.. before I made a mistake and said I liked a different one more, my mistake.

email me and we can discuss the next step in getting these files.

Thanks again for everyone who entered! and best of luck in future contest.

I have had a part of 7 contest on this site, and I will continue to send companies here to get their identity.

Good Day!
