View Full Version : REAL HEROES non-profit ministry needs a logo!

I am starting a Christian ministry that will be involved in supporting other ministries. The idea is to remove the burdens from ministries so that they can focus on what they do best. In order to do this, we'll help them find people, raise funding, get up to speed on technology, and whatever else we can do to make their lives easier. The ministry will focus on what they are best at, and we'll do whatever we can to help them make it happen. This idea is in the early stages and may morph into a different version of the above, but the bottom line is that I have a few ministries that I help now with content managed websites and have a ministry that needs help in being formed, and I'd like to get something going logo-wise before that gets too much further.

The real heroes idea comes from my view on the people involved and affected by this ministry. The real heroes are the people who are giving their lives to help others. The real heroes are not people who wear capes, but rather those who give of themselves without regard to help others who are in need.

I already have a logo made, but don't like it and certainly don't like the font and stuff. I need a KILLER logo that will convey the idea of the ministry and will provide a starting point for the print and digital media design. Any help that you guys could give would be appreciated...don't kill yourselves since it's a charity case, but if you want a challenge and have the time and interest I'd love to see what you come up with! I am open to any ideas and suggestions!

Oh, almost forgot...it would need to be something I could use on letterhead, business cards, and the web. I don't know all about vector images and that sort of thing, but I'm guessing you guys will know what to do. If you'll tell me what else you need to know, I will gladly provide more info when/if needed.

FURTHER INFO: Sorry guys...talked to a friend of mine in the know, and he said it would need to be vector art and preferrably one or two color for cheaper printing (money is going to be a problem for this ministry).

Thanks!

First of all, thank you SO MUCH FOR YOUR WORK!!! I was wondering if anyone would respond, although I know you guys ARE SO BUSY! The fact that you'd take time out of your schedule to help me is GREAT and I really appreciate it!

I like what you've done so far...it has a "ministry" type feeling to it and incorporates the idea of helping (with the hand). This is one of the avenues I was considering taking the logo. I like the hand and the birds and the rays...it tells a good story right away. GOOD WORK! I might like to see it with a different color...maybe a blue or green...since the purple is just a bit too dark...but it's a really good idea.

Here's my dilemna - basically, I'm torn on the feel I'm going for. You have captured one of my feelings, which is a gentle, reverent, helping type of feeling - something I want. The other way I was thinking about oing was with a very hip, very tech logo, since a decent part of what we'll do will involve technology. Do you think there is a way to get both? Again, you're the expert, so you're opinion is valuable to me!

Maybe you, or the other folks on here, can give me some ideas on what I should do. What do you think? Should I go for a more hip logo, or should I go with a more, umm, peaceful logo (less edgy) like the one that you did? Or the ultimate...a logo that captures both the feeling I get from yours and also has a bit of an edgy quality to it?

Another thing...could you maybe make the art you've already got into a symbol? I would love to have something that I could use without the text as well to put on t-shirts and stuff...maybe the design you have with a bit more curve or shape or something? This is my first time to do one of these submissions, so bear with me if I'm either being too harsh or not giving you enough feedback. You've helped me out and I want to get you the info you need.

The only thing that I absolutely don't like about this is the font...but please don't be upset! I appreciate the work and the fact that you'd help me out. THANK YOU SO MUCH! YOU ARE THE BOMB!

I'll wait to hear from you (and hopefully others too) as to what you think about my ramblings! :) Thanks again!

Come on folks! I need your help! You guys are the greatest...I've been looking at the work and it's UNBELIEVABLE! I know you're all very busy and I know I'm not paying anything for it, but please help me out! There's no way I could ever get a logo as good as some of the one's I've seen here without paying thousands of dollars! If you could just spare a little bit of your time and creative energy, I would be SO APPRECIATIVE!

Now I'm new around here, but should I put some money behind this? I might be able to put up a little coin if that's what it takes. You guys are certainly worth it (actually, you're worth more...some of the work I've seen here is so incredible). I don't make any money off this ministry, so it has to come out of my pocket, but if that's what I should do then let me know and I'll try to do that. I'm not sure what I should do, but getting this logo done would be so helpful. I need a hip, tech, ministry logo that I could use on shirts, websites, and all that jazz.

Ok, I promise I won't whine anymore...I had to make one last plea (and have already gotten some help from hypnosis which I appreciate very much!). Thanks!

Thank you for your kind words man and sorry I didn't have the time to reply. And you are not the only one new here and for my part you don't have to put a single cent here... Look, I've tried to work out a few versions of what I sent you earlier and I must say I cannot really make it as modern as that so I will have to go on another idea an may have something for you soon, but anyway you can see the evolution to a more symbolic style (using flat colours and thick outlines). Man don't get so depressed :( I'll see what I can do... :)
PS: Originally the colour was blue (Pantone 287cv to be more precise) I've tested the it on different screens and OS (Mac, PC, Linux...) and I still don't understand how it came out purple on you screen... anyway, hope to here from you soon man, take care...

Now you're talking! I like those even better than the first set! Let me apologize for saying it was purple...I'm slightly colorblind, and after looking at them again I realized that they were a dark blue. This new set is looking good! You got the symbol feel that I was talking about.

I like the top left logo, the middle logo (the oval with the two tones and the "make life easier" written under it) and the shield & banner logo. The middle oval logo is my favorite, but I like the rays that are in the top left logo, so I'm torn! There's something I like about the shield logo, but I'm not sure about the overall size of it...the shield might be a bit too large (although I don't see how you could make it smaller and not spoil the look).

If you don't mind, I need to think about this some...this stuff is good and I really appreciate your work! I don't know which direction to tell you to go because I like several of the things you've done! I do think I I'd like a lighter color (not sure what color...maybe a lighter blue or a soft green or something?) though. I'd still like to get a modern feel to it, but that may not be possible given the name and purpose of the ministry. I'd like to give you some better feedback, which I will do later this evening after I've been able to think about it a bit.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Man this is some good stuff! I appreciate your time so much. YOU ROCK!

Ok, after thinking about it some (sorry I didn't get back with you last night, but I have a stomach virus! Yuck!) I think I'd like to narrow down the one's you've done to the three I mentioned.

Maybe a lighter color? Also, I like the way you did the wording on the middle oval logo as opposed to the top left logo (although as I mentioned before I did like the logo itself on the top).

Would a combination of the top left and middle logo look good? I like the two-tone you did in the middle one...but maybe you could have some lighter colored rays in the top half of the two-tone? I like the shield to, but I'm not sure if I want that feel to it. I'm still trying to decide if that's the look I want.

What other feedback could I give that would help you? You're all over it, but it's still missing just a little something (sorry!). Maybe the suggestions I listed above will make it all come together.

As I mentioned earlier, I love what you've done. I'm not sure if you meant in your last post that you were still working on something else? I couldn't tell for sure...either way, you rule!

That doesn't mean I wouldn't like to see some others strut their stuff in here too! If you have an idea, I'd still love to see it!

He is good, isn't he Brian? Hypnosis, I've been playing around with these logos in adobe to see how they'd look on a website, and I'm really starting to like the 3 logos I mentioned...the top left and the bottom two in the middle column. The bottom middle logo is really growing on me. I think the only thing I don't like about these is the color...could we try something lighter? I hate to even ask since you're doing it for free and doing such a good job, but since this ministry is all about hope I'd like to get a "happier" color than the darker blue.

Does anyone else think they'll be submitting something? No rush if you are but haven't gotten around to it, but I'm just trying to figure out if I should wait a while longer before selecting something? Again, I'm new to this, so maybe I'm rushing things...I don't want to do that, but I also don't want to leave Hypnosis hanging forever. I'd love to see some other ideas, although either way I'll be a happy camper since I do like what has already been submitted. You guys let me know - thanks to all of you!

Hi jconner,
Sorry i could't answer till now, im busy at work these days :( I did say i was wotrking on another logo but it just dosen't work and since you seem happy with the earlier ones i just made the amends you requested and they look ok to me. I didn't tell you about the logo style, there may be a problem with the gradients if you print T-shirts or fabric but for everything else, i mean paper use & website its ok. Im sorry about that so i worked out flat colours versions for you... however i think it still can be done but it requests a specific print technique. Anyway, here are your logos man... :D

MAN THESE ARE AWESOME! The changes are just what it needed! I love the flat colors that you did for the shirts too...those look really good! I also love that you got the rays in there just like I asked - you are AWESOME! Until you submitted these, I was leaning more towards the bottom middle logo, but now that I see these with your changes I'm sold on the one you used. Absolutely great!

Question for you - I can't decide right now on which color to go with. I definitely don't want the light green, so it's down to the green and light blue. Now tell me if this is asking too much - I have no idea what it takes to do what I'm about to ask for, so just shut me down if it's too much. Would it be possible to get the green and light blue color logos? (and the 2 flat ones for fabric stuff to go with them) If it's not any more work on your part, I'd love to have the multiple colors, since I'm not sure which one I want to go with and want to play around with it in some web design stuff. If it means more work for you, then forget about it...I'll just mess around with the copy on the site and then pick one. But if it's just as easy for you, would that be possible? If not just tell me...I don't know what goes into creating the files.

Also, how would you provide the file to me? What sort of image would it be?

I cannot tell you how appreciative I am for the work you've done. Is there something I could do for you? You have really done some great work here and it's going to help the ministry out a great deal. It will give us some branding, and allow me to get a site going with a logo that ROCKS! You are the best! I'm so pumped about this! I will certainly keep you in my prayers (something very important to me) and if you need anything at all feel free to contact me. Not sure what I could do (I'm a database administrator/web developer who's good with ASP, VB, ASP.NET, VB.NET, and SQL Server stuff - although I suck with graphics and logos!) but if you need anything professional or personal let me know and I'll do what I can!

I plan to have some pay contests on here for some clients who will be starting sites/ministries/businesses in the future and definitely want you to participate! You deserve some money for all this good work! That's the least I can do!

Oups :o , sorry I forgot to tell you about the file format Jeremy, I use Adobe Illustrator (Vector based software) but I can send you the file in an "eps" format if that's easier (actually, easier to open on other softwares), the pantone colours I used(in case it does not show on the software you use) were:

- for the light blue > Pantone 299CV

- and for the green > Pantone 370CV

Hope to hear from you soon man...

MAN! That one is THE BEST YET!!! OMG! I showed it to some of my partners, and they loved it to! YOU ROCK! The combined color scheme is GREAT!!! YES!!! Perfect job...absolutely perfect.

On the file format thing, I have no idea...could you give me both? I'd like the Adobe file although I only have Adobe Imagestyler (discontinued product)...but my friend who does site design (actually got you guys to do a few logos for him) has Illustrator so I'd like to have that version - but could you also give me the EPS so I could open it in Corel? Will that open in Corel? I guess I need both...I need to be able to get it into various formats for web stuff...what do you think? You'll have to help me out with this. What should I do?

You've outdone yourself, and I'm glad I got to be your first win!
