We need a logo for a new networking group we are setting up.
the SES or "Scurvy Elephants' Society".
We have an idea of what we want...
- An elephant head with elephant 'flippin' the bird'/'showing the middle finger' with its trunk instead of finger.
- Cheeky and friendly rather than aggressive.
- Can be cartoony.
- Maybe within a roundel but very open to other ideas.
- Icon must translate well to merchandise, particularly a small lapel pin badge.
Think that's all I can tell you for now. Questions welcome. Good Luck!

Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Scurvy Elephants Society or SES - but the text could be also be detachable (if that makes sense)
What type of product or service do you offer?
We are a members club/networking group offering social get-togethers for likeminded people that could benefit our businesses.
How long have you been in business?
We are just forming.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Get people curious, make them smile, and if they think they are a Scurvy Elephant, make them want to join the club.
What are your long term goals?
Haven't even thought that far ahead! To be the biggest 'alternative' networking group maybe.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? 19th April is fine
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
er... the world! We haven't started yet.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Well... a 'scurvy elephant' is a 'disturbing element'. Rebels, philanthropists, mavericks, eccentrics, entrepreneurs - people who don't necessarily do things by the book, who don't fit in, who believe rules are there to be broken maybe, who can't be pigeonholed, who see the world differently from the 'herd.' Who take the road less travelled. Who constantly surprise and delight - characters. Richard Branson, Ghandi, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, Yoko Ono.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Not really. Although elephants tend to be grey and navy blue has been proven to be the best colour for sales, so that might be worth thinking about.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
- An elephant head with elephant 'flippin' the bird'/'showing the middle finger' with its trunk instead of finger.
- Maybe within a roundel - which might contain the text - but very open to other ideas.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Playful, characterful, unusual.
What is your tagline or slogan?
We don't have one yet.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Playful, characterful, unusual, dare to be yourself.
Where will your new logo be used?
Certificates, pin badges, mugs, ties, mousemats, website, stationery.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Closest thing to competitors are ecademy.com and Ryze.com but they are for ALL business people so their logos are suitably dull!
List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.ryze.com
http://www.ecademy.com
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We are scurvy elephants!
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Here's three:
Lighthearted approach to serious business.
Live and let live.
Vive la difference!
Additional Note:
The term scurvy elephant was coined by Wayne Dyer.
Arriving home from school one day, he asked his step-mum, "What's a scurvy elephant?". She told him she'd never heard of one and asked where he'd heard it. "From my teacher; he said I was a scurvy elephant." Bewildered, his mother called the teacher and asked what he had meant. The teacher responded, "As usual Wayne got it wrong. I didn't say he was a scurvy elephant; I said he was a disturbing element!"
It sounds negative - but it’s good to question, to think for yourself and draw conclusions on life "independent of the good opinion of others." Dyer defines a scurvy elephant as "a person of unusual character who is characterized by the 'tribe' as out of step with 'normal' people."
This society is being set up to celebrate and connect scurvy elephants everywhere.
