Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Tiki Lawn and Landscape

What type of product or service do you offer?
Lawn care service, mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizer application, weed control, landscape design and install.

How long have you been in business?
Startup company.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Immediate memory upon first impression. Make my phone ring!

What are your long term goals?
Increase in customer base and loyalty.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 19, 2006

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Upper middle class consumer in suburban Dallas.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Any consumer in the North Dallas demographic.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Retro Mod. Think 1950's TV Advertisement. Hip, cool, groovy, out-of-site, boss, etc. Please see attached graphic for inspiration. This is not mine and I have no rights to it, but it will give the designer some direction. If a similar duplicate of this could be designed, we could have a quick winner.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Earth tones, as in example, are desired. Not opposed to seeing a different angle, though.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I need a Tiki God to personify the logo. Again, I don't have rights to this one, but you can get the idea of what I am looking for.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Backyards, clean cut grass, fruity drinks, Polynesian environments, living the weekends on Island Time!

What is your tagline or slogan?
"Premium Quality. Superior Service. Guaranteed." (Again, look at the example. This tag could fit nicely at the bottom where it says Hula Lessons)

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Make your backyard feel like Maui by using a professional company that guarantees their work and products.

Where will your new logo be used?
Door Hangers (New job to follow after logo is finished), Biz Cards, Newspaper, Web

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Check the archives. Most of them have pictures of grass or trees or leaves.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We offer value added services for one low price. We guaranteee our work.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Cool.

PS> Sorry for the short deadline...if need be, I can extend, but I really need to get this project up and running ASAP. Also, the trick to this one is easy. Really look at the sample in my first post. Try to duplicate the layout as much as possible, just change the text and tagline. I can't stress enough how much I want this logo to look like the example. A couple of changes to make it our own and this one is done. Should be a really quick turnaround. Thanks a bunch...

Hi, Paul!

As far as you don't have rights to it I can only inspire by the image you've attached. So I had to draw my own Tiki somehow similar to yours. I hope you'd like it :)

Thanks for the early feedback. I appreciate the speed of your work!

Medigraph: Nice Tiki God, but not real fond of the font. A little too boxy and it doesn't look "Polynesian" enough.

Pracus: Wow! I think you caught my idea almost perfectly! First, can you change the "and" in the logo to "&". Also, for the tagline, do you have a font that looks like the bamboo lettering in the example. Something that has a bit of an island feel?

Execelent start!

Pracus:

One more thing, feel free to play with the font that says "Lawn & Landscape". Look at the example...it is really easy to read, and your draft that font is a bit difficult to read (just a little).

Don't get me wrong, it is really good! Just curious if you have other fonts to show. Maybe the bamboo font, if available?

Thx

Sorry Folks,

I just got some bad news from my printer. The rush production turnaround time has been lengthened, so I must move forward ASAP. This is necessary so I can submit my post for design of door hangers, so I can get them to print by Wednesday.

So the new deadline is 5pm Eastern Time USA today. I apologize, but I have to get my product to print in 2 days! Please make any new submittals or adjustments immediately. Thanks again.

I'll be able to send the revisions in about 6 hours because I'm out of the office and I can't work on it now.

Can you wait? :)

Thank you Paula for the last minute entry. Wow, nice piece. Has that great 50's Drive In Movie look to it, which is very cool. Let's focus on the first submission:

Can you change the "and" to an "&" so I can see how that would look? Also, can you change the tagline font to something more along the lines of a "Trader Vic's" bamboo stick kind of feel? I think that would help the viewer feel like they have a Mai Tai in their hand!

Thanks again

Thanks for the feedback :)
Here are a couple of font variations for the tagline.
Let me know if I don't have the right 'Trader Vic's" font.

More revisions for Paula:

Working on the first draft again...Can you change the font on "Tiki" to the font used on the second draft? I like the more pointy look in the second one better.

On the tagline, I don't care for the black and white. It looks like it is just floating down there. Can you make the tagline with bamboo font, change the color to the dark green, and seperate the 2 phrases with a small groovy star like the big ones on the main logo? Or maybe seperate the two phrases with a small icon of a tiki torch?

The tiki man, is staring right at me. Can you move his eyes to be looking to the side like example #2?

OK, Working off of mesage#16:

Give me pointy font on the word "Tiki" like in your second draft.

Move his eyes like in second draft.

Bamboo looks good, although resolution is poor on my end to see much detail. Can that font be colored to tie in with the whole logo, instead of being black?

Really cool stuff! Thanks!
