(Admin code added by Palmer - 343950D)

All,

I am looking for a new templete for my recently launched services business as follows:

Style
I am happy with my current logo which I will post up shortly, however I would like this to be integrated into the site with a little flash movement.

Sizes
The site should support multiple screen resolutions and sizes.

Design
I am looking for an easy to negotiate, clean and technological feel to the site. I do not have any images so would be looking for these to be included.

Text
I am interested in the look and feel of the site only at present, I would prefer to add the copy to the site at a later stage myself

Pages& Buttons
I would like to include a number of options, so that I can add to at a later stage in the future:
for example:

Services
Products
Partners
Contact Us
About Us
News and Events
Home

Colours
I like the colours of red, black and grey (as seen on my logo) however please do not feel restricted to these.

Timescales
I am looking to launch the site by mid August so I will reuire the template complete by July 31st to enable me to upload the copy.

I look forward to seeing your ideas. I should be around regulalry to provide feedback.

Thanks

Daniel.

Oh COOL B) , yet another TEMPLATE Contest :D . I just can't wait to start the template
My Questions:
I am looking for a new templete for my recently launched services business
1.Your Business is about what ?

2.Could you show "us" some websites you like the style/layout/... ?

3. Any Recommendations about the layout/structure ?

4.Could you tell us some of the "content" we should include in the template ? ( what I mean by content is for exemple: a login box, a "welcome" note, a "client login box", a "news" area, etc... )

From...
....Brian the Template Addict.

All,

The business provides services (installation, maintenance, project management and consultancy) to the telecoms industry primarily, however I will be introducing products into the portofilio later this year. I would like to have a partner log-in facility in order to gain access to hidden areas etc.

I am open to all designs, I do like www.elephantsg.net, everything is clear and concise yet still looks proffesional and creative?

Other than that I would be looking for the usual really:

1. Welcome
2. About Us
3. Products
4. Services
5. News
6. Contact Us

I hope the above provides a useful overview.

Thanks

Daniel

There's a limit to how big a file a member can upload to conserve server space. Please send them to me and I will attach them. Palmer [at] DesignOutpost.com

Thanks :)

hello, Daniel,

could you please upload *.fla of your logo (if you have). For best integration I have to re-size it , but for some reasons import your *.swf in FlashMX doesn't work. Or if you can not give a source there is any possibility to change the size? If not again: can I apply another animation may be?

Nice logo , btw. :)

Thanks,
Nat.

Hi Marengo

Here is a direct link to a zip file containing the PSD vector file for the Comsource logo

My server is slow sometimes (http://webfellaz.com/comsource/logo.zip)

hihihi, all these troubles for deleting the white space :D
Me it's as easy as clicking the "Magic Wand" tool from fireworks 4.0 ( I just can't adapt myself to the MX or other newer versions ) :lol2:
If someone in the designteam use fireworks, try the magic wand tool..
just a tip to share ;)

All,

RadicalSEED has kindly dug out the original flash files which can be found at: Flahs Files (http://h24-77-199-227.ok.shawcable.net/resources)

I hope this helps!

Please could you all download these ASAP as he is keen to remove them from his server after all have downloaded them!

Marengo,

Like the design as a whole, but.............

1. Seems a litle too much white
2. Would prefer a dark grey
3. How would the menus work? Do they respond when rolled over and clicked etc?
4. Would like more graphics and photos
5. Don't particularly like the grey line dividing the page into sections.
6. The logo isnt big enough really, I would like it to jump out me more, although this will probably be helped with the flash.
7. Prefer the first pic, but could I have a different one on each sub-section?

I look forward to seeing your revisions, but excellent first effort!

Thanks

Daniel

Marengo,

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The design is great, I do have a couple of questions/feedback though:

1. How willl this design suit different screen resolutions? Will it auto check to fit window?
2. I am not quite sure about the grey at the top?................I'll have a think and feedback some ideas later

Thanks for the info, I'll take some time out to review these articles tonight.

I couldn't have asked for a better start to the contest!........................come on the rest of you!

You have certainly put a stake a ground! I look froward to seeing the others trying to better it.

Thanks

Daniel.

marengo
07-24-2003, 10:34 AM
yes, sure it will works with all resolutions. I am also a big fan of the flexible layouts. As you see i've made "flex" zones for future coding. It's only screenshot now . I also don't really like grey line: i have another solution , but: yeah, i'd be great if you'll think abt that. :)

Thanks.
edit: later i'll show how rollovers will work (i have 2 versions).

dbirchmore
07-24-2003, 11:00 AM
Marengo,

I look forward to seeing those rollovers later.

I have just tried to view the demo with my laptop which has a large and straneg resolution of 1400 x 1050 and it doesnt look anywhere near as good. The whole site seems to be moved left and the rest of the template stretched to the right?

Is there a way to check on screen resolution on load and load different page (this might require more work on my front after choosing template)? Which would then be configured to screen resolution nicely?

Thanks

Daniel.

marengo
07-24-2003, 11:15 AM
It's a screenshot only. It's not a table with 100% width etc... If you want i'll code it before ending of this contest: that's not a problem. You can be sure i can do that (Demo here (http://users.skynet.be/fa085740/contest/demo_copy4.htm) ).

Normally, all designers make:
1. or flexible template , which works with 800*600 (without horizontal scroll-bar) and .... 1280*1024
2. or template with a table of the fixed size. (example? hmm: voilą: site of Nina (http://www.eyesondesign.net/) ) Not flexible.
Client who decides.
Of course we can make it with frames etc...
Huh, I talk too much?

Thanks for reading :)

Koolbrian,

I like the idea of the unique feel.

I am guessing that the design you posted was for the menu at the top of the screen.

My only concern is that it over-powers the logo to a certain extent (but that could be retified through creating a flash design that shrinks the design to fit?) and that it is very white, and as such isn't that clear?

I would welcome an initial design in full though.

Thanks

I like the design as a whole but feel that the swoosh is a little over powering? I would also like to see the menu larger and a little more porminent. Would the design include any flash? I do like the announcements!

Koolbrian
Sorry this template just isn't what I am looking for. It looks too dark and too modern, I would even say slightly difficult to read? The logo looks like a rework rather than the original and the shape of the actual page seems strange?

Platinum
Love the layout, very clean and clear, althogth I am not a big fan of the keyboard image. I would like to see more people images? Would there be any flash on this design?

Great work guys, I look forward to seeing your further thoughts and designs shortly.

Glad you like it :) Can you give me a little more indication of what work your company does? I can probably choose a more appropriate image then ;) As for the flash - I'll definatly include the flash logo in the top left, not sure about any other flash though, it's a possibilty though... will post back soon

All,

Feedback as follows:

Marengo
Sorry didnt mean to neglect you, its just that I felt that the template was coming along superbly and I didn't really have any commenst to offer. I do like the rollovers they look good, how would these deal with a sub-menu? I would also like to see a client log-in or partner log-in section?

Platinum
I run a services organisation, installing, supplying and maintaining a wide range of telecomunications equiptment accross the UK, Ireland and in the not to distant future Europe. The bulk of my work comes from resellers of my services, so it is difficult as I do also sell my own services and products (can be tricky not upsetting people sometimes) which is why I wanted a traditional services look rather than a salesey one. My big theme is partnership and my companies flexibility in meeting customer requirment. Do let me know if you want to know any more?

Koolbrian
Like this template design, much more my company than the last one. I am not keen on the chap in the pictire though and would like to see the area on the left utilised further?

I look forward to seeing your responses. If this is going to take a while should I extend the contest slightly?

Please let me have your feedback as to timescales.

Hey Dan,

Here is your revised template. I'l like to have the red loop animated as if a light source is travelling around it, having it glow somewhat. Unobstrusive and light on the file size. Any comments or disagreements welcome. :)

As for Client/Partner login i think it'd be reasonable separate it from menu and place the links on the top page. So, you can make 2 sub-pages for that. See attachement.
As for submenu: or it's possible to make DHTM menu ( but i'm not sure it will be good looking with this my design) OR ( my proposition is ): incorporate it in the page.
Also if you'll have so big site I think it's absolutely necessary to make site map (as
HERE (http://www.intel.com/intel/nav/sitemaps.htm)
