Hello all!
I need a logo designed for my new blog. The name of the blog is "In The Loop Diary", and you can see what we currently have by going to:
http://www.intheloopdiary.com/blog
(The winning logo will replace the current text logo.)
The colors are already chosen, so we won't have to mess with trying to figure that out. The actual Hex codes are (537898, B4B276, 999999).
Simplicity is the key, because as you can see the site itself is not all that complex.
Last but not least, the final logo should be delivered in either Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop formats so that I can make minor adjustments myself. If you can't work with either of these programs, please do not enter the contest.
Thanks and good luck to everyone who enters!

Hi there. I am unable to find the RGB values of your HEX colors, do you know them? I was able to find the grey color, but not the other two. Thanks.

Hi Ryan,
Sorry I was trapped at work man, anyway, I don't think you will like these ones because I thought you were talking about a sound loop site... Never mind, I didn't use the colours cause I wanted you to see the design first...
Tell me what you think...

Dang you guys work fast! Ok, here's some feedback:
Ed: Good first effort. Of the logos you created I think the second one is my favorite, because I dont like the font of "Diary" in the first one or the way that the P is integrated into the loop of the third one (it's more difficult to read). Also, you don't need to include .com into the logo, only the words "In The Loop" and "Diary".
Finally, I think the loops that circle the words may be a little strong, and take away from the words themselves.
jmberra22: The first logo is a totally different style that I hadn't even considered. I like it, but I want to get my partner's opinion since it's not what we originally had in mind. Logo #2 is more like what we envisioned, but I'm not crazy about the font. As for #3, the square doesn't seem to speak the notion of being "in the loop", and so you might want to avoid that version altogether.
As for your first post about the RGB values, here they are:
537898: R-83, G-120, B-152
B4B276: R-180, G-178, B-118
ondarox: This is my favorite so far! I like the font and the target/arrow image a lot. I also like the way that you set "diary" apart from the "in the loop" text. Please keep this logo active, but try to come up with a few more variations than just the arrow/target image. Don't get me wrong, I like this one very much. I'd just like to see what else you can think up.
Corey: Good try, but it's a little too cartooney for my taste. Think more along the lines of simple and professional.
Again, great work everyone. I can already see that I'm going to have my work cut out for me choosing a winner.
Hypnosis: Yeah, these are a little too hip for our site, I think. I do like what you've done with the last one, however, by placing it in a box. You might want to hold onto this design element should you decide to enter another design.

Hi! Is the logo going to be for web use only? Or print as well?

ElKootcho: First off, the logo will be used for the web almost exclusively. If I decide to use it in print I can always bump up the DPI with Photoshop myself. For now 72 dpi should be fine.
As for your logo, I like the "In the Loop" part with the arrows, but I'm not crazy about the font in the word "Diary'. Try to go with something a little less curly. In fact, you may want to stick with san serif fonts exclusively.
Also, I'd like to see a color combination where the grey areas on the arrow are green, and the word "In" and "The" are grey. Feel free to try a few other color variations while you're at it.
Thanks,
Ryan

For half decent printnig quality you require at least 150dpi. By increasing the dots per inch yourself in photoshop (if the logo is not vector based) you will loose major quality as the logo will just pixelate as opposed to scaling correctly as it would in a vector logo.
Just letting you know in the remote chance of you wanting to get this logo tatooed on your right bicep

Hi Ryan, thanks for the feedback. As far as logo #3, I was trying to use a concept of books = diary--but that's cool if it doesn't appeal to you. I will await comments from your partner in regards to the first logo. My thoughts were that having some sort of icon that can be used in different ways--the text can go underneath, on the left or on the right. I will work more with that particular concept and the concept of #2. Swooshes are overused and I didn't want to show it in the conventional way, that is why I showed you a couple of ideas using the swoosh.
I do agree with you that ondarox's logo is very nice!
Thanks, Jackie

Jackie, it's not that the "books" didn't appeal to me, it's just that I didn't know that that's what you were going for. Looking at it now I can see how it looks like three books with bookends on either side, but the problem is that if I didn't get it, there's a good chance that large portion of my readers won't either.
I also agree with you that swooshes are overdone. When I said that #2 is more like what we envisioned, I was referring to the horizontal layout as opposed to the swoosh. I still like the more vertical/squared look of #1 of the three you presented, so work with that theme and see what else you can come up with. I'm still not totally sold on the swooshes circling the circle.
ondarox: Don't worry, I don't plan to tattoo anything. :D In fact, there's a 98% chance that this logo won't ever leave the web.

Sorry for the feedback delay. Here you go...
ElKootcho: Thanks for all the variations. We'll consider them all in our decisions.
Just G: Nice, clean design. I noticed that you have it listed as #1, so if you plan on entering more designs please let me know. Remember, this contest ends Friday at 11:59 PM (CST).
j-design: The colors really don't match the ones that I had listed in my original post, and the design overall lacks the basic simplicity that we were going for. You might want to go back to the drawing board on this one.
Taldo: The lettering itself is very nice, but the dollar signs are a bit overdone. If you're willing, I'd like to see you try another design for the background.
Martin: The loops work with our loop theme, but having three of them smushed together like that is a little busy. Good effort, though.
Julie: The design itself is ok, but the font isn't really working. Like I said in earlier posts, I think a san-serif font is more in line with the image of our site.
ondarox: Great work again! Of the three I like the first one best, but I'm still not sure if I like it better than the very first one you posted. It's going to be a very tough decision.
Thanks everyone, again, for your entries. Remember, this contest ends Friday the 25th at 11:59 PM (CST) so if you plan to enter anymore designs please let me know.

And the winner is...

Congrats!
We had a tough time deciding between the first and second logos that you created, but I think we're leaning more towards the first one. Please send the original Adobe Illustrator file to me at Ryan@CreateBestSellers.com
Thanks again to all who entered. Again, I was incredibly impressed!
