(Admin code added by Palmer - K3067004)

Prize: $150

I need a template for a new content driven site I am going to make. The template needs to have a top header, a left menu that is mostly text based, and a small footer menu (and copyright statement).

This site will be focused on the Hedonism resorts in Jamaica - but I cannot use their logo. I'd like a logo that is similar (perhaps using the "RingBearer" font) but you can't just copy it.

The name of the site will be "4 Hedonism"

For style/color examples see:

http://www.hedonism1.com (layout)
http://www.superclubs.com/brand_hedonism/ (style)

The left menu needs to be text based and expandable (meaning I could easily add new menu entries). It needs 4 headings (which can be graphical).

The menu should look like this:

Hedonism II
- Facilities
- Pictures
- Tour
Hedonism III
- Facilities
- Pictures
Travel
- Travel Agents
- Jamaica Info
Community
- Hedonism Pics
- Trip Reports
- Discussion Forums

So the headings can be graphical and the actual links textual.

I really like the caribbean style font you'll find on the SuperClubs site -- I believe there is one called "Buccaneer" that is similar.

I don't want a white background anywhere.

Please post any questions, I'll give a dealine of August 1st.

Just to be clear.

1. I am looking for a tropical color scheme.

2. Not a big fan of embossing.

Hey there! Do you have any pictures in mind for the banner?

Not necessarily.

A picture of a generic beach or palm tree would probably suffice.

Here are some I found on Corbis

Obviously you'd need to get a high resolution one and then edit it so it's a 100 or 120 or whatever pixel high strip.

Wow, this is going to be hard to judge.

First of all the slogan for the site is going to be

"A Guide to the World's Most Notorious Resorts"

I guess I shoulda mentioned that earlier.

Also just to be clear I'd like from the winner, in addition to the completed files w/markup, an unflattened psd file (assuming you're using photoshop, if not something equivalent) and any applicable fonts I'd need to correctly edit it as I may need to make some changes at a later date.

One final thing, and both of you so far are fine in this regard, there needs to be space for a 120x600 skyscraper on the right.

hairyiguana -

Great first post, I'm really impressed and I like the highly graphic style you have.

Couple things:

1. I'd like the actual links on the left menu to be left justified. The headers can be centered. Also while I like the font the capital I's look like J's - might it be possible to do just the I's in a different font? Also you don't need periods, II and III are fine. (if those are periods in there).

2. You don't have a bottom horizontal menu/copyright area -- though really it wouldn't be a big deal to stick one under a horizontal rule in the main content section

marengo-

I really like the fonts you use, really (whats their names?). It seems you put Hedonisme on the left menus though, there is no E at the end.

Also Hedonism is known for it's nude beach and sexual atmosphere, everyone in your header is clothed. Now I don't want anything more than butt cheeks showing on the site but showing people in bathing suits really doesn't reflect the resorts at all. These are places where adults can run around naked and be as open as they like with their sexuality.

Also you have that weird color thing at the far left, whats that about?

Hi aspen.

Thought I'd kick in an entry. You can view the rough draft here (http://clients.snapfire.com/new-5.gif).

Thanks for your consideration,
Liz.

Hi!
Here's my template. There are two versions with two different females.

Here's my work:

aspen

Liz,

I like yours alot. Obviously you don't have all the left menu items on there but I assume thats just because this is an unfinished draft.

Also, for search engine reasons, the site needs to be named (4 Hedonism) not (4Hedonism), and I need to reiterate that in everything about the site so could you add some more space between the 4 and Hedonism (that pretty much goes for everyone).

Brian,

Your's is good, but honestly right now its in last place. It just doesn't have the same sense of refinement that the others do. Its just a bunch of little things really, such as the generic opacity change on the header without any attempt to blend it so you don't get lines where the image ends. Don't feel bad, the big reason I don't like it is cause it looks like something at my own skill level.

Everyone -

This is going to be very hard to choose. Would you all be willing to do a little work after for extra? What I'd want is an additional header for VBulletin that has a 100% width, and a logo that could go on white T Shirts.

Liz

Hi Chris,

Thanks for the feedback, glad you like. Sticking the extra space in the logo is no problem - the logo design is in vector, so it would be suitable for print on tshirts or whatever other medium you had in mind.

Speaking for myself, I'd certainly be happy to convert the header layout to work with the vbb.

regards,
liz.

I think it's possible. Header for VBulletin is something different (has to be designed with 100% expandable or reapetable area). Logo - in vector format.

Will there be any more entries?
As for me, no; but if I can re-work something, just let me know. :)

Thanks alot.

Well the contest is over. Liz is the winner - but it was a hard decision.

Marengo you were in a close second. I really liked the font you used for the header, and the flash was a nice touch. However the "squareness" of your header (both overall and of the pictures inside of it) didn't appeal to me as much as Liz's. I wanted the design to give feelings of an erotic tropical place and while most were tropical I think Liz's is the only one that really felt erotic enough for me. Hot and Steamy tropical nights and all of that.

hairyiguana,

You were in third, I liked yours alot but it really didn't scream "Hedonism" to me. It was definitely a great tropical template though and any travel agency would be lucky to have it. I'm sure you could resell that template to someone else. I also liked your use of color - it provided a fun tropical feeling.

-----

Liz,

I think I can actually handle the logo/vb header myself if I can get a file like I got last time I bought from you. So just make the changes mentioned previously in this thread and then provide me with the template and an unflattened psd version. If you don't have my email address its chris [at] thebeasleys.org

Chris -

I'm thrilled you liked the template!
Give me til tomorrow morning to make those tweaks and convert to HTML; I'll drop you an email with the psd and html then.

Best,
Liz.
