Hi Everyone,

We need a logo for a financial services firm that has to do with risk management. The logo has to be elegant, simplistic and has to reflect a certain degree of conservatism since we are in the financial industry.

The logo should consist of the company name: “HedgeCorp” (capital "H" and "C") and possibly also a tagline that says “Risk Manager”, but that’s your judgement.

We would like to have this wrapped up by end of July.

We are looking for a logo that reflects that we are a dynamic but trustful firm so a combination of a classic look and a dynamic dimension is something we would like.

We tend to go for dark blue, light grey and white colour schemes but we are not married to any of those colour schemes.

We don't have a predetermined image or icon in mind so that is up to your imagination. However since the tagline “Risk manager” sums up what we do, “RM” could be part of a logo, but we are not sure. As long as the logo does not display any icons like trees, money, graphs etc. The logo has to be abstract.

If you add an icon to the logo-name, we may want to use it in our software products to display a button i.e. the desktop icon or the like, so the colour scheme should resemble the logo-name.

The qualities we would like the logo to portray:
- Trust
- Dynamic
- Conservative
- Real-time process or markets

We will be using the logo on our website, business cards, newsletters, invoices, etc. We will probably want to work with the winning designer to help us create some of these things a bit later.

Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

www.sungard.com (boring, too conservative)
www.trema.com (not very dynamic)

, but we like….

www.lundbeck.com
www.sas.com
www.saxobank.com

, and from earlier projects on DesignOutpost...

Nice typing and colours by medigraph. Try to use capital letters for H and C like "HedgeCorp". Good idea to integrate H with a +, but it is very difficult to "read".

In general it could be nice if the logo (whatever it might be) was a bit more rounded instead of being squarish. Also try to see the "Adam Gamble" design here at Outpost, nice combination of rounded letters and squarish design:-)

Nice work by medigraph, but in general we think it is too conservative. Try to make more out of the typing and possibly leave out the logo. More aggressive color schemes could also be a possibility to lift the logo to another level and again try to take a look at the Adam Gamble logo posted here on DesignOutpost:-)

Nice, but still at bit too conservative we think. Try to leave "H" and "C" out of the logo and make it more generic.

Still have an icon, just not "HC"?

Or, no icon at all?

still an icon if you think it fits, but without HC

Dear Ratbaggy,

A nice idea, but we would prefer to have hedgecorp written like this: "HedgeCorp". The black one is nice and simple and we would like to see more variants of this...

Dear Senter,

Nice logo we think, but try to make the icon less "static" and more dynamic like i.e. your own "S" icon...

Hi BlueCherry,

Nice logo, but try also to work with only H and C as capital letters like: HedgeCorp... The logo is however much more dynamic now, but try also to get inspired from some of the logos we mention that we like....

Hi Paul,

Well it's just because we think it looks nice that way, but of course we are open towards other ways of writing it:-)

Hi everyone,

This logo is nice a clean, although it does not write HedgeCorp as we initially has thought it:-).... But we think in general we need more "design-directions" from you all in order to decide...i.e. you all use almost same typing and icons tend to be only straight lines. There is no logo that really leaves the rest behind....yet:-)

Hi all,
Currently we still think that there is a need to work with our logo design to make it really nice, but if we should provide you with an top3 list of the current work that has been done it would be:

1) BlueCherry - dynamic and clean logo suggestions
2) Senter - Most innovative
3) Ratbaggy - Clean design, but we would like to see more:-)

We hope that we can wrap up something nice before the 31st.

Kasper

Also nice logo by Taldo! Like the icon, but try to make it smaller and possibly change the typing to i.e. capital letters and bold typing like HEDGECORP to try a few other variants:-)

Very nice logos by Senter and Taldo!

Senter: Try to remove the "TM's" at try to make one with the tag-line "Corporate risk minimizer" too. (maybe "Corporate" i first line and "risk minimizer i second")

Taldo: Try also to see how it works with the other tag-line (see above)

But keep up the good work - the end i near:-)

Also nice logo by Medigraph (message #47). If you add something to the icon in the bottom right corner you can make the icon look like an "R" as in Risk or Risk management:-) Try it out!

I think our decision is to go for your logo Taldo! It looks very nice and the icon with the compass has a certain symbolism when you think about our firm as a risk management advisor. We however think that the icon should be a little smaller so that it "fits" the part with the text. Again it could be fun to try different color schemes again, now that we know which logo it's going to be. i.e. more or less blue or the green/white combination.

Finally we would also mention that Senter and Mediagraph did some very nice work and the decision was not easy.

We don't know how to finish this contest exactly, but now we have at least written our conclusion.

I think we would stille like the dark blue logo, but try to make an exampel where the tag-line is "Limiting corporate risk" or "Corporate risk manager" for comparison
