Hello everyone and thanks for reading this post, here are the details on this project.
This is a website for a music artist called Nude Revolution. You can listen to his music on his MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/nuderevolution. We only need a home page and 1 interior page template with HTML and associated CSS.
We don’t have a logo, we would like something designed into the web design that could act as a logo.
I’ve attached a picture, please use this in the design. I know it is isn't great, I will try to post others if I can get them.
Nude Revolution already has over 20,000 friends on MySpace, we will be using the site as a way to promote him and expand his audience and the interaction he can have with his fans. His fan base is largely women.
Here are some sites we like and why:
http://www.foofighters.com/ - Excellent design here. Very unique look, unique design elements. Great work. We don’t have tour dates yet, so that wouldn’t work. However the important sections for us to feature on the homepage would be the News/Blog entries, his photo album, and his online store.
http://www.rascalflatts.com – Great job creating unique content sections that are easy to differentiate. Easy to read but still has great design elements to it.
www.deathcabforcutie.com – We like the menu on top with the music player on the upper-left hand side and the Sign-up for a newsletter on the upper-right hand side. The colors are nice, however we would want something a little darker. The design is simple but has a lot of unique elements (like the stars and the shading, etc.).
www.toddcareymusic.com/base.html – I think this does a good job of selling this artist. I like the large photos – however I think they are a bit too large and take up too much of the page. The black and white design with splashes of color seems too simple.
http://www.michaelbuble.com – Once you click “Enter Site”, you can see how they also use the picture of the artist well. Again, it looks clean but almost too simple, not very intriguing to the eye. It doesn’t make you say WOW. I like in the upper-left hand corner the Join Mailing List box and on the upper-right hand corner the music player.
COLORS:
We want to make the site sexy since he appeals largely to women. I think some darker colors, maybe some blues, maroons, olives, browns. I’d like to try a black background with some sort of texture to it so it isn't just flat or perhaps a gradient to give it some depth.
SITE NAV:
Bio
Music
Photos
Blog/News
Video
Store
Message Boards
Contact
THE LOOK WE WANT IS:
Clean, Interesting Design Elements that tie the site together, Warm, classy, Accessible, Intriguing and interesting
This Project is due July 18, 2006
I need both pages to be HTML coded with accompanying CSS. I need all images to be broken down and give to me in a zipped images folder. I need the PSD versions with separated layers zipped and sent to me.
Some more comments:
Home Page elements: As I mentioned above, the content we would like to be featured somewhere on the homepage includes:
• Blog/News entires (example http://www.rascalflatts.com)
• Content block promoting his online store (example http://www.foofighters.com at bottom of page)
• Content block highlighting his photo gallery (example http://www.foofighters.com at bottom of page)
• Content block that will feature the latest Message Board entries (example http://www.rascalflatts.com/index2.php lower-left hand corner)
• mailing list sign-up box (example http://www.deathcabforcutie.com)
• music player in the header area (example http://www.deathcabforcutie.com)
MySpace Icon/Graphic – This will appear on every page and will link to his MySpace page.
Thanks so much in advance for entering. I can't wait to see the great stuff everyone will come up with.

Fabian,
Thank you for creating a design for this project. Unfortunately, this is the only picture I have. I know it is small. I will see if I can get anything else. Thanks again and I look forward to your submission.

Designers - thank you for your submissions. We appreciate all the great stuff we received. I am going to give these notes for all designers to go from.
Here are our notes:
- The basic outlines are looking good, although we need to focus the page down to center more on the News/Blog section since that will be updated most often. I think the best example of the layout we love is at www.dashboardconfessional.com website. This layout with the main body being the News/Blog and the items on the sides (like the player, Newsletter sign-up box, Featured Album box, Video box works well for us). Let’s try to just simplify it, mimic the www.dashboardconfessional.com site.
- We would like the Newsletter signup in the upper right and the music player in the upper left.
- We have concluded the colors may be a little too dark. We would like to go with something a little lighter with colors like grays, tans, beige, light blues. Please take a look at these sites - www.dashboardconfessional.com and www.deathcabforcutie.com
- We should eliminate any “Store” sections since we are currently only launching with 1 CD to sell, so an Album box should work just fine.
- We would like the headshot picture to take up the left side of the page (like on this site www.dashboardconfessional.com). If we could invert the headshot image so he is facing the other way, this would look good. Attached are hi-res images of the headshot and album cover.
- The logo should be front and center on the top of the page and it needs to be bigger and standout on all the designs. Good logo designs from all designers!
- Perhaps we can try inserting a guitar down the center (and behind the words) or on the right side of the page. We need to make sure that people understand that this is a music site.
Thank you again for your efforts and we will most likely be choosing a designer based on this next round of designs we see.

Awesome job on the last design! We definitely would like to use this design for our website. Of course, we have a few modifications we would like you to make before wrapping up:
• We would like the Nude Revolution logo to be front and center and at the top of the page. We also need it to stand out more somehow (perhaps with some kind of flash). I think this will also help moving the menu a little further down from the top of the page.
• The buttons on the menu need to stand out more. Perhaps put a background behind them or something like they do on the www.dashboardconfessional.com site to make it very obvious that is the menu.
• Please elongate the headshot picture to cover more of the left side.
• In the album sale section, it should only say “But Now!” and not “Play Track.”
• Could you make the buttons on the player a little bigger and separate them a bit.
• Could you add more fake entries to the Blog/News section so we can see what it would look like when the page gets longer.
• Can you show us the design against a couple backgrounds so we can see what it would look like actually in a browser window.
• Could you increase the size of the “Headlines” of each entry on the Blog/News section. Maybe bold them as well.
• Can you try using the “Georgia” font for the “Headlines” of each entry in the Blog/News section.
• Could you create a little larger left and right margins in the Blog/News section?
Thanks and we look forward to your modifications!
Best,
Nude Revolution

Thanks!
Below is a link to a mock-up of the design in a browser, currently it's just images, once coded it will load faster and cleaner than it does now.
Did you want to uses frames like dashboardconfessional or do you want a normal scrolling page?
Also music players are normally Flash based on these sort of sites,im not famliar with how to coded a player.I can image map the buttons, but that's were my knowledge ends.

Hi Fabian,
Almost there !! A few more notes:
Can you have the words for the logo appear side by side. Can we make the logo stand out more, maybe add a little flash to make it jump out.
Page Background color, the swirls are ok but could we make it a darker color, like a shade of blue or grey to make it match the color tones of the rest of the page?
Can we make the menu in this order:
Bio, Music, Videos, Photos, Blog/News, Message Boards, Contact
Let’s lose the bubble effect on the right-hand side boxes.
In the right column – could you make the blue gradient extend further down the page.
In the player in the upper-right-hand corner, could you make the font for the song title pop-out more, maybe have it be a darker color like a shade of blue.
Could you center the design on the page. On the left and right border edge, could you add a drop-shadow to make the content area pop-off the background?
Could you make the menu jump out a little, it seems to get lost up there. I am not sure how to do this, but I am sure you can come up with something great.
Thanks for everything, keep up the good work we are almost done.
Best,
Mike

Hello Mike, sorry for the delay it has been a busy week
First off, I Have given the logo some shadowing to give it more
depth. At this time, I do not have access to Flash.
Added some dark framing to the content area to give it some lift, also added
a drop shadow to the menu areas.
Thank you for your patience

Changes:
1) Change the font of "Nude Revolution" to CASTELLAR and capitalize each letter
2) Decrease the size of the picture on the left and also show the whole picture- not just the face. Also, change the hue back to the pic's original color.
3) Put player on top left of page above pic.
4)Eliminate the borders on the left and right sides.
5) Instead of "Buy Now" at the pic on the right, put "Store".
6) Let's have a "Buy Now" sleeve on the bottom left of the pic on the left side of the page. Check out www.dashboardconfessional.com to see what we are talking about.

Fabian,
A few more changes and we are almost done.
1) We have decided that the player would be best back on the right side.
2) We would like a news ticker (a la Times Square) streaming above the "Nude Revolution" logo. Nothing too big, it will be streaming quotes.
3) We need a button on the menu for "Street Team"
Thanks for your patience, the design is looking great.

Hi Fabian.
Ok, we are finished. You can now cut it up into HTML/CSS. I am not sure how you wanted to handle the menu? One option would be to do it as text, the other would be to do each button as a rollover image. The rollover image might look a little cleaner. Let me know your thoughts.
Also, the right-hand column has the player in it, we do not want the player to re-load everytime a new page loads and therefore start over sp we may want to set up possibly an i-frame for that right column or something? Let me know your thoughts on how that should work.
Finally, if you could send over the PSD with clearly marked layers so that we know what we are looking at. One thing I see already that we will need to grab from there is the section headers for each page.
We had stated in our original specs that we wanted an internal page designed as well. I think think that for now, lets just cut this up into html/css, if we see a need for a few more small design elements here and there or your advice on layout, perhaps we can just ask you for these small things instead of having you design a whole other interior page. Sound good?
Please let me know you got this and everything sounds good.
Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike
How do you feel about this suggestion? What I wanted to do is use CSS text link for the menu, system as this would be faster
loading than image links and if later down the track you wanted to change the link names it would be a simple process of just change the text.
Could you let me know how you would like me to do your music player, do you want me to create a simple box were you can place and
remove the flash music player that is made from an outside source (as im not familiar how to make one)? Alternatively, do you want me
create an image map for the buttons that will require a programmer to link these to your music source?
To be honest im in unchartered waters with this one.
Also over on the left side we have the buy now CD, would you like this to be changeable to what ever it CD you would like to promote?

Fabian,
Yes lets make the meny buttons text links because then we can change them easily. For the music player, just cut it up like you said with the individual buttons and what not. I will have our programmer figure out what to do to it from there.
Yes, the CD on the left will need to be changed out at some point, if you could make that a seperate layer on the PSD perhaps so that I can go in later and just edit that layer.
Thanks,
Mike
