Hi Everyone,
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
The logo should contain InfoProductU.com or Info Product University without a tagline.
What type of product or service do you offer?
The site is a paid membership site that teaches new to novice Internet marketers how to setup and run websites publishing ebooks, videos and other info products.
How long have you been in business?
I've been in business five years but this site is one year old.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Convey a sense of professionalism without being a distraction. We're about what's in it for the customer as opposed to "Hey, look at us"
What are your long term goals?
To grow the membership to 1000 paid subscribers.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Thursday, the 13th, although if we spot something we really like, we could decide sooner. Due to a unexpected change in our server's software setup, we need to replace the header now and will have to go with a placeholder until a logo, then header can be built.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience:
Our target market ranges from newbie internet marketers to novices wanting to create info products to sell online.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
We've got 100 paid subscribers from our in-house lists. A software change has been preventing us from creating an affiliate program and doing joint ventures. That software problem is finally solved.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Preferably something that can be displayed in a 100 to 125 pixel header graphic without being hard to read because that's our primary use of the logo.
A humorous take on a college logo might work or a traditional logo might be ok. We want to convey professionalism without being too corporate. Most of our clients are trying to escape 9 to 5.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
For colors, it needs to fit in with the current site's blue template. Other than that, I'm open to your ideas. For biz opp sites, blue, red or green have worked well for us.
I prefer bolder shades to pastels.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I used the collegiate theme when creating the current logo/header graphic (http://www.InfoProductU.com). That may work again here but we're open to new ideas.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
You'll make money, you'll have freedom, you'll have fun. That's the benefit we've gained from being in the info product business. More money, freedom to travel, ability to set our own schedule, etc.
What is your tagline or slogan?
"Get the Help You Need to Grow and Expand Your Online Info Product Business" but that will be in our header, not on the logo and it will probably change when we write the sales letter for our site. That's why we don't want it in the logo.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
This is a site where two experienced marketers will show you how to do what we do, create info products that sell. Not only will we give them information, but they'll be able to interact with other students as well as the two of us.
Where will your new logo be used?
On Infoproductu.com in a 750 x 100-125 pixel header graphic that will be posting as a project as soon as this logo is completed.
I will also be using it in video title boards. If you scroll down the page on the website, you'll see one of those videos entitled "How to Sign-Up for InfoProductU.
Although I may do a postcard campaign for the site at some point, I don't plan on using this logo much in print.
Competitive Positioning List:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
http://www.netbreakthroughs.com/ - Looks too corporate.
http://www.masterlistbuilderu.com/ - Joel's logo (the @ on the right) isn't a prominent part of his header graphic but it does convey what his business is all about, building email addresses.
http://www.milcers.com/ - Just use a header rather than a logo. Like the look but takes up too much of the page.
http://www.jamesmaduk.com/ - No logo, just photo and name. Brands himself with his packaging. Don't think this looks good.
http://www.copywritinguniversity.com/ - Again, not a logo. The header is typical of Internet marketing sites catering to internet marketers. We want to move beyond this.
http://www.marketingtips.com/ - Like the overall look and feel of this site but the "k" in the logo makes it hard to read.
http://www.masterlistbuilderu.com/ -
What sets you apart from your competitors?
We're allowing people to interact with us more than most and we're more entertaining. I'm more tech-oriented, producing how-to videos and audios. My partner Pat O'Bryan is a product creation whiz and an excellent writer.
We don't always agree on how to acheive certain goals so users get more than one perspective.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
I've got to confess that I'm brain-dead right now. It's just after midnight and after posting a project description, I was asked to complete this more thorough questionaire. I see how this will be helpful but, unfortunately, there's nothing left in the tank right now and I haven't written the sales letter for the site right now. Hopefully you'll find enough info here and on the website to give you some ideas.
Our site has just moved to a new content management system where our old header graphic won't fit. We'll need this logo before we can post the header graphic project so we'd like to get this done as soon as possible.
Thanks,
Bill
