We are so excited about our new start up business. The Playground for kids will be a fun place for families to celebrate special events with inflatables and a large play structure. The current look we have in our vinyl sign is "The" made very small and angled into the "P" In the word Playground (hidden a little). We then wanted "for kids" in lower case below "Playground". We would like a stick girl in a polka dot dress on the right side and a boy on the left with a striped polo shirt and shorts almost like they were "cheering". We want the letters in Playground to be very full (inflated) but easily read. We would also like bright primary colors in "for kids" and Playground in royal blue. I'm so excited to see what you come up with. We also have color wonder t shirts that the kids can color on so that is also why we need the "fat" lettering. I tried to be specific..but don't let it hold you back, we are definitely wanting your expertise and creativity.

Logo Design Assessment

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To guide the designers in the right direction from the start, please complete the following questionnaire and copy and paste it in the first message of your logo project:

Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo? The Playground for kids

What type of product or service do you offer? We are a birthday party facility for kids, and offsite rentals of inflateables.

How long have you been in business? Opening this October

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? A fun kid friendly logo that screams FUN!!

What are your long term goals? Open more throughout the Midwest

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? July 25th

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience Parents and grandparents of children ages 2-12, daycares, schools and sports teams

Who would you like to add to your audience?

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? Very colorful, fun and kid friendly

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) Primary colors, our wall background is white so we want Playground in blue

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? Yes, a stick boy and girl cheering or jumping

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? We are a fun exciting place to come and play

What is your tagline or slogan? for kids

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? The Playground for kids is a clean, fun place to bring kids for all their special days and we provide clean up!

Where will your new logo be used? printing business cards, t-shirts, sign, invitations and letter head.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Pump It Up is similar to our business, however they are all inflateables and we have a lot more. I can't even remember what their logo looks like so I'd say it isn't that recognized, we even had our own kids party there.

List competitive URLs if possible

What sets you apart from your competitors? We have a large crawl structure as well as inflateables and we rent inflateables as well.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Where kids come to play!

Thanks Titania for being the first to throw something at me!
We really want the "The" more hidden off to the side of Playground, it has to be on there but small and angled, in black maybe or red. We only want primary colors in the "for kids" and I'm not crazy about the look of the kids, but they do look excited.

We want the word "Playground" to look more inflated since we will have inflateables, but still easy to read. Thanks

Jennifer, Very cute, but I don't really think the kangaroo is what we had in mind. I'm really set on a stick boy and girl (red haired girl and blonde boy) on the side or sides. I also need the black and white version to be outlined letters only for "Playground" so the kids can color in the letters on our t- shirts. I like the lettering of PLAYGROUND but can you round out the edges a little more so they look more inflated? Thanks Barb

Yusef, Very nice, I love the red headed girl but I want the boys hair to be spiked. I'd also like the lettering of "playground" to look more round and inflated. The black and white version of the logo needs to be more of a "thick" outlined so they kids can color them in on color wonder t-shirts. And I'd like to see the pink switch to red, primary colors are easier to see on our white background. Thanks Barb

Jennifer, can we try the changes I listed and maybe change to a boy and girl jumping over instead of the kangaroo? Just a though, because I really do like how that looks. Thanks,Barb

Jennifer, This is realy cool, can you make your kids look more like Yusuf's? I really like the red haired girl he presented ALOT, with the freckles. Can you put his girl with your design? We are definitely getting close I can feel it and see it! Thanks, Barb

Hi,

No; I'm sorry. Our designs are independent and elements cannot be interchanged.

However, I will be happy to try a different approach with the girl to see if the design is more to your liking.

Here are the revisions. Please note that the purpose of the B&W version on this canvas is to show how the logo will look on faxes etc, but if you'd like to use a B&W version for other purposes, it may be prepared by the designers.

Titania, We really need Playground more inflated looking and yellow is to hard to see in signage, I'm really picky about how the kids look and these aren't doing it for me, the whole thing isn't sreaming excitement for me yet. Shoot me another one. Thanks, Barb

Yusuf, can you work on the boy and put a striped shirt on him? To me it looks like someone said "put your hand up or i'll..." I do love the little girl...ALOT! Too many years of retail also says that red heads shouldn't wear red, can you put her in a green polka dot dress? Can you also work on inflating the letters a bit more? Thanks, Barb

Yusuf, love the girl in that color of green, if you can improve on the looks of the boy and inflate the letters you are getting closer to what I have in mind. Thanks,

Jennifer, I'd like to move the girl to the left side and I scanned a hand drawn picture of a boy jumping that I would like to get to you but don't know how to attach it, any help? Thanks, Barb

This is another implementation of inflated text, as the text on v3.0 cannot be inflated more and still keeping the effect on text. Elements on v3.0 and v4.0 can be interchanged.

When you click on "Reply to Topic" (not Quick Reply), there should be an option that says, "Manage Attachments" and you can upload from there.

Jennifer, are you laughing at my drawing? It's pretty ugly but hopefully it serves it's purpose. You have to move to the right to even see it, I didn't do a great scan job either.
Thanks, Barb

Hi,

No, it's cute. :)

If we do the boy in that style though, we're going to have to change the girl to match (arms/face) - is that what you want?

Jennifer, I like more the fact that he is jumping, or running. I also like the half circle at his neck, and the separation of his shirt and shorts. Just throw some more boy examples at me, the only thing I would change about the girl is to give her a half moon at her neckline and fingers (3 of them, oval hands with 2 lines for fingers?). Thanks, Barb

Jennifer, I already love it, but I want to try a couple of changes. Can you thinly out line the Playground letters in black? We just put our coming soon sign up and you can't see yellow from far away, but I still want it in the sign. Put a ball cap on the boy and put the girl in some funky capris or rolled up jeans? I think I want her to look a little older, but keep her the same just change her outfit, just like playing paper dolls ha..ha... I'd also like a face lift on the boy and spiked blonde hair. If we can do these changes I think we have a WINNER!
Great job, Barb

Jennifer, sorry I guess it's hard to see spiked hair through a ball cap, how about a visor on the boy? Then he can have spiked blonde hair too!! Thanks, Barb

Jennifer, This is exactly what I want! You have talent. One question when I look at the black and white version the boys face isn't changed to look like the girls and the inner circle of the P is not defined enough. That's all and it will be PERFECT!!Yeah

Hi,

Thanks for the compliment. :)

I forgot to change the b/w; that's why it doesn't match.

I will get the files packaged up and make the changes to the b/w in the package.
