Hello all. I need this logo quick, fast and in a hurry. I appreciate any help given. Please note the unusual spelling of our company name.

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Alchemiae

What type of product or service do you offer?
hand poured candles, natural aromatherapy bath and body products and custom scents

How long have you been in business?
2 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I want to target a more upscale market

What are your long term goals?
To open a physical store.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
August 8th, 2006

Please describe your existing audience
Very upscale consumer who also loves shopping for natural products. My audience is the type that shops at Whole Foods supermarket.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
I'd additionally like to target a more natural, 'hippie' type of audience who don't mind paying well for products that are earth friendly.

What type of logo would you like?
I'd like something clean, charming, whimsical and unexpected. My logo should bring to mind the whole spirit of alchemy, which is bringing two elements together to make an third, beautiful product. A logo that in some way was indicative of my Creole (New Orleans) heritage might be appropriate. Something wild and funky would be more appropriate than something modern and stilted.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
no particular colors

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No, but I definitely do NOT want an image of a flame or a candle in the logo.

What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
I want it to look upsale, but natural.

What is your tagline or slogan?
The Scent Studio

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That we are a company devoted to the environment, to eclectic living and to the upscale.

Where will your new logo be used?
On the product itself and on stationery.

Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Pacifica Candles (http://www.pacificacandles.com)~love the tropical feel of this logo and design
Kenneth Turner (http://www.romanzagifts.com/KENNETH_TURNER.html)~whimsical and pretty
Voluspa (http://www.romanzagifts.com/Voluspa.htm)~very obviously top of the line scents.

List competitive URLs if possible
See above

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Alchemiae scents are hand-mixed. Our candles are hand poured. All of our bath and body products are made from scratch. Our process is never automated, so quality control is supreme. We use only the best in scents and in other products.

Targeted Message:
Eclectic elegance.

Here we go... :)

Thanks Skyvee,
I like the way the 'a' and the 'e' suggest flames without being flames, but I'd like to see something with a little more 'pop' and impact. Also I should have made it clear that I'd like the tagline (the scent studio) included in the logo.

Skyvee,
Thanks! I'm not feeling V1-B, but I really, really like V2. Could I perhaps see it in some other color combinations?

Medigraph,
Thanks! I like the font a lot; I think it says exactly what I want. I'm not too sure on the logo. It's so round and smooth that it doesn't exactly 'fit' with the angular letters in the font. I think something a little more bold with that font might be better.

Medigraph,
I really like the flame-y 'A' graphic, but I'm also very attracted to the Greek key as Alchemiae is a Greek word. Both are very good. Thank you.

BlueCherry,
I'm like the simplicity of the font, but I'm not digging the glow. It reminds me less of candles than of sunset. Maybe something in a completely different direction? Thank you.

edited to add:
Medigraph, is there any way you can make the logo into a fleur-de-lis in the Greek key style?

Other designers~I would like to see the incorporation of a fleur-de-lis into the logo. It need not be in a Greek Key Style, but an artistic representation of a fleur-de-lis would be better than a literal representation. Again this is definitely not required and if it doesn't fit into the nature of your design don't do it. It's just something I'd like to see. ;)

This is a fleur-de-lis:

Thanks for the submissions.

NHR, I really like the font and the flame image in Version 1. I'm not too fond of the triangle behind the flame though; I just don't like the shape. It seems a little too hard. The font on Version 2 is fine, but I really don't like the graphic.

Medigraph, thanks for the update. That's perfect. You're definitely on the short list.

Wow, you all are making it really hard for me to make a decision here. First I'd like to say thank you so much for your hard work. As for the most recent submissions:

Djaka~I like the concept of version 1, but I think it might be a little hard to read. I'm still considering it though and would like to show it to some other people here to get their reactions. I much prefer version 1 over version 2.

nhr~version 1.1 has some people here singing 'hosanna hosanna.' We really love how you've made the fleur-de-lis flamelike, and at the same time kept the integrity of the shape. Very nice.

Eziey, thank you for all the beautiful color revisions.

Tini1, I'm not really liking the size of the fleur-de-lis in proportion to the size of the font. It just seems a little too big and overwhelming.

Djaka, that's much more on target. I can really see that there is a fleur-de-lis inside of the A. That's very nice.

I am really going to have a hard time choosing. I've never seen such an array of really fine designs before.

Here’s an organic fleur-de-lis for your consideration :)

Josh, thanks for your submission. I think it's a little difficult to read and doesn't have enough of a unique quality.

Fabian, I really like the way you used something organic in the logo. You were listening! Thank you.

Now I have to throw all these logos onto a table and decide which one will work best. I've had some great submissions.

I'd like to first thank everyone for the hard work and the really first class designs submitted. I am amazed at the talent on this site.

We have decided that Eziey's Version 1a-e is the most reflective of Alchemiae's identity. Thank you all again for your time and effort.

Admin, you may move this to the revisions forum if you please. :)
