Company / Logo Name: Intranet Leadership Forum
Deadline:
Award: $200

Company Background:

Intranet teams often work in isolation, trying to manage the demands and needs across all business areas. They get few opportunities to connect with their counterparts in other organistaions, and by definition cannot see other intranets.

Intranet teams are therefore hungry for information and support that will help them to be more effective, and to deliver even better intranet sites. They are particularly interested in collaborating with other intranet teams, to gain new ideas and approaches.

To meet these needs, the "Intranet Leadership Forum" will be a membership-based community, for intranet managers and teams to share knowledge between organisations on new ideas and best practice.

This members-only group will provide regular face-to-face meetings, along with a secure collaboration site and internal benchmarking programme.

The Forum is aimed at intranet teams in large corporations and mid-to-large government agencies, and is expected to cover both Australia and New Zealand in the near future.

Te Intranet Leadership Forum will be run by Step Two Designs (www.steptwo.com.au), a vendor-neutral consultancy recognised as a global thought-leader on intranet strategy and design.

What we hope to accomplish with branding:

The logo (and supporting elements) need to be immediately recognisable, and must reinforce the image of professionalism for the Forum. They must help to further build interest and confidence in the purpose and value of the Forum.

Where logo will be used:

* Intranet Leadership Forum website
* marketing materials (PDF and printed)

Logo Requirements / Design Concept:

Our primary corporate colour is Pantone Orange (021 CVU), and this should be used as a *highlight* element in the design. We don't have any specific preference for the other colours used in the design.

Fonts and designs should be suitable for use at a range of sizes and resolutions, including on websites.

We require both:

* a logo
* logotype for "Intranet Leadership Forum"

The logo and logotype must present the following image:

* professional
* confidence
* assistance
* communication
* collaboration

Tagline or Slogan:

None.

Competitive Positioning:

There are no other similar groups within the Australasian region, although there are a few other groups overseas, including the Intranet Benchmarking Forum (ibforum.co.uk) and the CM Forum (www.cmforum.dk).

Hi nhr, I'm afraid we're not keen on the boomerang (too touristy!) We also need the logo and type to speak much more of "professionalism", "confidence", "quality" and "value" (we are targeting large corporate clients).

Thanks, James

Hi graphxguy, the circle of dots is interesting. What is the thinking behind this?

The font, though, is too "sci-fi", noting that we're targeting a corporate audience. Perhaps you could play with some variations on both the logo and the type?

Thanks, James

Hi Medigraph, 'fraid we just not keen on the "leaping figure" as a logo. It just doesn't speak of either the service or its characteristics...

Thanks, James

Hi DraganB, your "version 1" logo is interesting, if a bit too "in your face". Can you play with some variations on this, perhaps making the whole design a bit less solid?

What's the thinking behind the "version 2" logo? (Doesn't mean much to us.)

Thanks, James

The idea was a leader who controlled and balanced everything above him/her. I will try to improve the 1st one, though.

Thanks, DraganB

Sorry for taking so long to respond. I haven't been getting email notices about threads I'm subscribed to.

Anyway, it represents a round table discussion, a forum. Is it just the "Intranet" font you don't like, or should I redo them all?

Thanks.

I will be out of town until September 5, so if the contest doesn't last that long, congrats to the winner! :)

Thanks.

Cheers,

Hi everyone,

We have refined our thinking about the Intranet Leadership Forum further,

The Intranet Leadership Forum is a professional community for intranet managers and teams. Supplementing the traditional role of one-off conferences, members have all-year access to an environment where they can directly connect with other organisations tackling the same projects and issues.
The Forum is facilitated by Step Two Designs, and supported by an international Board of Advisors. It is a unique model that provides intranet teams with the best thinking and real-world solutions.
Face-to-face meetings are tailored to current needs, along with a members-only extranet and email list. Most importantly, a full-time Forum Manager is only a phone call away, to help connect organisations and facilitate discussions.
Ask your question, have it answered.

A key part of the message for us is “people connecting” so we are keen for any designs that can convey this message.

Cheers,

James

We liked the idea of overlapping objects, however is it possible to create some more unity in the design by linking the items in some way?

Hi all,

Thanks for the designs so far, we have a much firmer idea of what we are after now and are keen to get this finalised.

Comments have been included on some designs and we look forward to your submissions!

The connecting people idea is great, however the pieces are clearly identifiable as puzzle pieces, can we try for something more abstract?

Re: the ufo circles

Hmm, I keep coming back to this one. As potentially I see the circles around the outside as people. Can we see it with the outside in orange and the inside slightly more dominant?

Hi all,

We have refined our ideas and would appreciate your input.

We are keen to get the right kind of design that demonstrates;
PEOPLE
CONNECTED
SHARING

We have done a very amateurish design that loosely shows people working together. We do NOT want the people to look how they do in our design. They look like bowling pins, we want more character. We also are aware of the similarities with some software logos and want to get away from that.

I really hope that makes sense and inspires this to some conclusion.

Please ask if you have any questions about what we mean.

The connections between the circles is great. I would also like to see a similar idea with people if possible?

Hi Senter,

We like both of the people designs. I am interested if anyone has a more "defined" person version. I mean some more detail in the actual person.

Hi,
Is there any other options for mono version on the one with people lined up (the option without the hair).
I hope that makes sense!

Catherine... I have recieved your request via Private Message. Designers are not allowed to communicate through Private Messages until a designer is chosen. I would be glad to help you out if in this case I was the designer chosen for this project.

Hi Senter,

Sorry I apologise for going about it the wrong way and will ask the questions here.

We would like to select the design above however, we would prefer a mono version that reflects the design elements and a grey scale version.

Can you please let me know what you think.

Regards,
Catherine
