This project is for one half page horizontal ad promoting my wedding photography services for a wedding show guide. I will also most likely use this design to create a promo card (5x7 or 6x9 size) later on, so I would be interested in purchasing an editable file from the designer at the conclusion of this project.

This is a color ad, ˝ page horizontal, size required: 7.375” x 4.854”, 300 dpi

This ad should feature my logo, website URL (www.eye4weddings.com), my phone number (253-709-0102), some photos (not too many though) and I was also thinking about adding some bits of creative text (in a font such as Zapfino, with words like “it’s your love story” or “your day, your story”, feel free to suggest others as well).

See this link (http://photos.photographer-smith.com/main.php?g2_view=core.ShowItem&g2_itemId=4835&g2_navId=x2a4b332e) for low res photos to work with; (note there are three pages of photos) final hi res files will be sent to designer at the close of the project.

Click here (http://www.eye4weddings.com/ssplogo.eps) for my logo.

Hi
Here is a start for me

Pod - This has high impact, it just might be what I'm looking for. I was thinking about using just a single photo, as that is what many photographer's do. Thank you for your submission!

pod - I love the design with more photos, might like to see the photos with a smaller border (thin keyline) I think the logo and info should appear larger and that the phone and website url should be a different font, zapfino is hard to read small. Also any other ideas for color of the background other than black?

imot - I do like the color scheme, I’m not too fond of the dots in the background, and also I wish the photos were larger.

Alex - I like overall design, not really sold on the brown color however.

Grafissimo - I like the red color scheme and overall look very much! Your second design does not fit within my requirements for a horizontal layout, but is interesting.

Pod - The revisions look good, I agree with you that black looks the best. I don't think you need to make any more changes at this point.

Fran - I like the idea of images from the same wedding, as it does help to tell a story, but the overall design background is a bit busy for me. I think it might be a good idea to use elsewhere, just not this ad. I'm not sure I really like the ovals as well.

Alex - your two updated versions are interesting, no need to provide any more revisions at this point.

Fran - I really like your second proposal, nice job. No further ideas/changes at this point. I may ultimately change this photo in the final product.

Grafissimo - I really like your two concepts (msgs #7 & 16). They both are bold, colorful and would stand out. Something that I would like to see is the logo and text orientated horizontally. I really like what you did with the text on the second version. (it's your love story...) I would love to see a revision with a different photo (try #0243 cropped horizontally)

ElKootcho - I like the 2nd version more, it has a very commercial look to it, something I would expect to see in print.

Fabian - Thanks for your ideas, however I'm not in love with any of them, I like the first one more, and liked the color scheme, but the overall design elements don't work for me.

NHR - I like your last two versions the best (msgs #24 & 25). I might change the photo, but the overall look I liked. I don't really like font you used for the "it's your love story" text, it looks a little overpowering.

Hi here is my take on it. For me, one of the joys of design is the presentation/ explanation aspect of it so I hope you don't mind the blurb.

The idea behind the concept is that the photo sort of pops out a bit, so that even though your ad is positioned among all the other text and images on the page of a magazine or paper, it would attract a second look. I used an autumn palette to sort of blend in with the palette of the photo and so that it is also in the same theme of the upcoming season. While the photo grabs the initial attention, the leaf at the corner is meant to anchor the attention on your logo so the eye sorts of travels around the whole ad.

Please provide comments for improvement. Thank you.

plum74 - Fabulous design concept, its beautiful! Thanks also for the explanation. My only slight reservation with the leaf is that the ad will appear in the wedding show guide which will be distributed from November - January. Would you still keep the design as is, given that information?

grafissimo - Thank you for your revisions, I like the horizontal format much better.

nhr - Thank you also for your revisions, the text looks much better.

I can also do the "it's your love story" in a shade that ties in with the flowers if interested.

firephotos

Shima - Thanks for your posts, I think I prefer version #1, I would like to see the text a different shade perhaps, it's a little to bold with that color, I think the size of the text is also maybe a bit too large. Also the white to black gradient seems a little overpowring, could we tone down the brightness or change the color it so it doesn’t stand out too much?

Hi Firephotos,

Thank you so much for the lovely comments, I'm happy about your thoughts on the concepts. I didn't reply right away, I wanted to make sure that I was able to address your concern about the leaf in the corner. We can change it to a different object but I think that the color of the leaf and it looking almost generic blends really well into the background that it doesn't upstage your logo and your beautiful photo. I think it also blends well with the concept of a shot of a season, a memory, a shot of a "story"...a beautiful point in time.

I have another concept I am working on that I hope to be able to upload early tomorrow morning.

Hi Firephotos,

For this concept, the ambiance is that of an outdoor garden wedding which is very airy. But the focus is the tagline "It's your lovestory". This is why there is a series of photos that represent not just photos but "events" (like in a film reel) that may be part of a every weddings' story. This also highlights your specialty which is a photo journalism style of wedding photography.

Shima - Thanks for the revisions, that looks much better.

Plum74/Lala - Another great design concept, I like it alot! I think this would also be a great design for a promo card.

Since I have so many great designs to choose from, I am going to close this project as of 12:01 AM PST on 8/25 rather then end of day. I will announce the winner soon after.

The use of the subdued engagement photo and the bold wedding picture visually support the "love story" tag line. I moved away from a fancy cursive font for the tag line so that it wouldn't compete with your logo. Any changes can certainly be made if you'd like.

Thank you Grafissmo and ElKutcho, both great designs.

After looking though all the designs again, I’ve decided to work with Plum74/Lala using the concept in message #42.

Thank you everyone for all your hard work on this project, there were so many great design concepts, it was extremely difficult to choose the winner.
