(Admin code added by Palmer - 3938838)

This contest is for $400 and is for a template for a faux finishing (painting) contractor.

I would like to see this wrapped up by late August.

The existing site resides at www.faux-atlanta.com (http://www.faux-atlanta.com) and contains all the content that should be in the new website.

I need a very cool looking website. I’ve seen templates that you guys (and ladies) have done and they are awesome. That’s what I want.

This is what I'd like to see delivered for the $400:

1. The site (and page) templates;
2. The optimized HTML pages ready for content entry;
3. All the picture samples that are on the current website (modified however they’re going to be);
4. A template for any future pictures that get added to the website;
5. A Flash intro screen (will be loaded in a popup).

Please be as creative as you feel. I want something unique and super cool.

You can download the entire library of images including the original Adobe Illustrator logo from http://www.faux-atlanta.com/library.zip. It's 11.6MB so it may take a minute or 2 to download.

I’ll monitor this topic to give feedback and answer any questions you may have.

Please feel free to drop me a line if you have any questions.

Good luck! :tup:

Severner,

We're looking for something a little more cutting edge than that. The painter (who's sitting right next to me) says that the header seems disconnected and that he doesn't like the way the text content of the page is setup/laid out.

He does like the idea of the before and after mouseover and if that's the route you take he can get better before and after photos for you.

We're looking forward to v.2.

Thanks.

I might have something. I am trying to get a major website redesign done/live for a repeat ent. client of mine, so that has priority...but I will see what I can do.

No promises.

What goal or function does the idea of having a flash intro play within the aspect of what your company does?

I am just curious, because I don't really understand what having one will do to provide a greater user experience...I think it would take away from any design or functionality...

Just my $0.02 and suggestion.

:)

It was the cool factor. If the design works, I'll scrap the Flash intro idea.

To quote the painter though, "I like the way this one is going, but I don't really care for the colors." :(

Very good. Other than the colors we're quite pleased.

My entry :)
Template (http://brianstudio.com/Designoutpost/wood/template.jpg)
Nav bar has mouse overs effects normaly, you can view it at:
NavBar (http://brianstudio.com/Designoutpost/wood/navbar.htm)
The header normally has some animations in it.

The template is clean, yet unique and the content is well structured.
Colors were chosen to fit "wood","painting","cealing" environment. Template can be optimized if used ( fast loading... ). I had a problem with the logo: I could view it ( strange format: .ai i think :D I dont know the program associated to it ), so I took the logo ( star ) from XTeriormovie template [ tell me if i should remove/change it ]

Feedbacks are welcomed!

If you haven't Illustrator you can just import *.ai file in Photoshop (menu file--->import)

Here you may see *some* of the functionality of the design:

Faux - Atlanta (http://www.placidminds.com/wood/tester.html)

If you mouseover the first nav button at the top you will see how that will look. Click around, see what works...what doesn't.

Samples and textures are from Faux Atlanta's site. Collage for header? Yes, i've used antique wall painting' illustrations

I would like to participate in this contest but I'm not memeber and I can't join.
I sent an email a month ago, so there should be some answer on it but it isn't.
Can anybody tell me why ? Am I doing something wrong, or you just accept someone you like or you know and for other there is no place here to contest?
I've got more than good portfolio as I'm graphic design expert and I'm sure that's not reason.
I'm not sure but as I don't know reason, seem to me that's not fair from you guys.

Lawton,

This is a light and simple design and open enough to be flexable.

Any feedback appreciated,

Hi,

As far as I know, Design Outpost gets hundreds of applications a month, and sometimes it takes a while to sort through all of them. Rest assured, Palmer will eventually get to it. :)

Don't you think it would be a better idea to contact the owner of the site instead of disrupting the contest with your complaint?

At the time I received your application, your site was down and then it got buried in the mess known as my inbox. I found your application and went to your site, I think you need to make the url's to the sites you've designed clickable. It would be much easier for someone considering to hire you to see your previous work. I'm assuming you made them unclickable for the almighty Google but in reality, it will drive away clients.

ps-Check your email ;)

Sorry it's been a while.

First I'd like to say that you guys have done a great job. All of these designs are incredible. You have all outdone yourselves. That said the painter has narrowed the field.

xteriormotive - we like what you've got.

The painter would like to see the following:

Although I like what you've done the the FauxAtlanta title font in the header, he wanted to see the script font that's on the current logo. He has a million printed items that have that font on them.
He would like to see "gallery" renamed to "portfolio". Apparently some of his clients didn't know what a gallery was.
He would like to be able to change the popup picture in the bottom left of the main image to the final version of that job. He can have the picture for you next week.
I know it hasn't been done yet, but he has some before and after photos that he would like to have swap on hover over.

Again, everyone, thank you all very much for your designs and hard work. Keep an eye out. I love this place and plan to have plenty more for you soon.

Thanks.

So is this contest closed or still open?

I would prefer to make those kind of changes upon completion of the contest if my design was chosen.

Secondly could you find out what the font is and possibly email me the .ttf so I can adjust the header logo accordingly?

That would be a tremendous help.

Thanks again,
Sean
