Ok, I need a logo for alamohost.com and alamohost.net. (We're located in San Antonio.) Of course, the Alamo needs to be featured, but other than that, the direction is open. The Alamo could be depicted graphically or photographically. Fonts should be clear and easy to read, and the name should be Alamo Host (two words) without either domain extension. The logo will be used only for the web site, not print, so the file format is open. I will just want to be able to resize it effectively.

I would like to end this contest on Sunday, August 10th and announceme the winner on Monday the 11th. After deciding on the logo, I will have a contest for the web design.

Thanks to everyone who decides to give this one a shot. I have to say that I'm not looking forward to being critical of anyone's creative work!

What's you opinion of something like this?

Or this?

Hi JulieT,

Thanks for those samples. They aren't quite logo-ish enough for me -- I'm looking for something that conveys professionalism and substance. BTW, I'm not a fan of the wanted poster type of font.

Hello KMan,
Please accept this design as my idea for your logo.
Your comments are appreciated.

A very simplified design. Maybe too simplified??

Hi Kimber,

I like the strength of the outline, although the shape isn't accurate. (http://www.thealamo.org/) I don't want to incorporate flags, either. Oh, and I only want the name Alamo Host without the domain extensions.

Thanks!

Hi RadicalSeed,

I think those look a little too much like cameras at first glance, sorry. Any other ideas?

Here's a second try. Do you have any specific color in mind?

These are based on my first entry, without the offending font :)

Sorry for the delay in responding, everyone.

JulieT: These just don't do it for me; they don't feel too exciting.

ElKootcho: I like the stone effect, but not the font or font color. But the overall look isn't quite punchy enough.

J-Design: At the moment, this is the closest to what I'm looking for. I think I might prefer to use a photo of the Alamo instead of the orange block. Could you do that, capitalize "Alamo", and make the orange a little deeper?

Dynagirl: This feels a little too heavy, but the treatment of the star sure does catch the eye.

As a general note, I think I'm leaning towards incorporating a photographic image of the Alamo. Do any of you know if there are any images around that could be used for this purpose, or would i have to license one?

Thanks to everyone!

Added more detail to the graphic representation of the alamo. If anyone has a pic of the alamo that wont be under any restrictions id love to know about it.

I also made the orange darker and changed the type...

Hi Everyone,

I think I'm going to end this early, at noon tomorrow. (Wednesday) At the moment, I would be happy with J-Design's original design with a couple of tweaks. I've tried inserting a photographic image myself and like the results. So, barring any great last minute ideas, I plan to work with J-Design to do a final photo version.

If you have any ideas you still want to put forward, please do. Otherwise, thanks for your participation -- you guys and gals are great!

I'd already begun work on this, so I went ahead and finished it up:

Dynagirl, thanks for that last one -- it's really nice. I think I'm still going to go with a slightly modified version of J-Design's first effort, though.

Thanks to everyone -- you've been great, and I'll be back for more!
