Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Maniac MarCom
What type of product or service do you offer?
Marketing writing, business writing, technical writing, and SEO web copy
How long have you been in business?
2 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I’ve never done a logo before, I’ve mostly worked as an independent contractor with no corporate presence. I want a logo to put on my website (if you are also a web designer, I may need additional help with that project) and business cards to convey a corporate image.
What are your long term goals?
Maniac MarCom will probably always be a small company – Me and perhaps a couple of other contractors – but I would like it to have an established corporate presence and look good on business cards and on the web so I can convey the sense of having an established, successful, little company.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
9/30/2006
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
My clients are small companies that produce high-tech items such as software, hardware, and medical equipment. They hire me to write content for user guides, newsletters, marketing brochures, and their websites.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
I would like more small companies and perhaps medium and large companies looking to contact out parts of their work.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I would like the logo to be fun, cute, girly, and clever.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Maniac MarCom is a girly name, so I was thinking of pinks and purples, maybe some green – I am open to any colors, however.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No - I think just the text “Maniac MarCom” would be sufficient, but if an image related to the company comes to mind, feel free to include it.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Clever, sensible, cute, neat, organized.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Do not include this in the logo - “Obsessive-compulsive marketing communications”
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
I want them to know that we provide professional services to corporate clients and we’re a fun company to work with.
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, letterhead
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
http://www.divinewrite.com/seocopy.htm - I like this logo. It’s basic, cute professional.
http://www.toprankresults.com/web-design.htm - I hate this logo. It’s ugly and manly!
http://www.proedit.com/marketing.asp - Here’s an example of one with an image that I like okay, but I don’t like the colors – I think it looks a bit “too”
cold/professional for what I’m going for
http://www.allyourwritingneeds.com/ - This one is awful! It’s unreadable!

What sets you apart from your competitors?
I can extremely well-written pieces around quickly. I have seen the writing of my competitors – I am not impressed! I bring more quality and insight to my work. You won’t have to ask me to do something the right way over and over again.
