Hello, i am Alexis Bellido, i run a Web Agency from Lima, Peru and we have customers worldwide.

I am looking for a new logo in order to relaunch our web site and company identity.

Prize amount is US$ 60. Deadline is Monday 18 August at midnight.

Here some information to get the idea.

Our web agency is called "ventanazul" , i got this word joining these 2 spanish words:

"ventana" = "window"
"azul" = "blue"

so the literal translation should be something like "blue windows".

The meaning?, well, i work online with my customers and company crew, i work at my office and have a big window to my side and i see the blue sky through the windows and i imagine that crossing the sky, maybe in another continent, one of my customers is doing businesses and working with one of our web solutions or maybe one of the guys in our team is working on programming or designing for one of our web projects.

That is what i have in my mind when i think about the name "ventanazul".

The concepts i want to express are: solid company, future, technology, human factor is important, honesty, strong brand, quality, global, nature.

What do we offer to our customers?: We offer the whole process for a web solution: starting with research about their company, knowing their products and clients, their vision, analyzing their needs, creating the web strategy, information arquitecture and content development, web design, web applications development (PHP, ASP, JSP, etc), electronic commerce strategy and implementation, reliable web hosting in our own dedicated servers, search engine optimization and marketing online.

We are a bilingual company (spanish and english) and currently have customers in countries like: Peru, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, USA, etc, the logo should be "global", by this i mean "international" and easy to understand by people all over the world.

You can see our current web site at http://www.ventanazul.com ,sorry is spanish language for now, we are going to create a whole new web site (bilingual), totally different to the current one and the first step is getting the right logo, recreating the whole company visual identity.

At our site you can see the current logo but ideas must not be based on that, i want to see fresh and more professional ideas.

I need to have a logo with a symbol i could use alone and the word VENTANAZUL (it's only one "a" in the middle). You can use "ventanazul" or "ventanazul.com" as you think is better for your design. The text must be easy to read (sans serif family and corporate look is preferred).

The logo must be easy to remember and people must be able to draw it easily by hand if needed.

I really like dark blue as main color. You can put a little of orange, gray or any other color you think is appropiate but the blue factor is important because it transmits some of our concepts and remember: ventanazul means "blue window".

It must work in B&W version too and for using it on stationery, t-shirts, and of course web (if you could provide stationary ideas would be great)

Some company logos i really like:

http://www.aiwa.com
http://www.macromedia.com/macromedia/story
http://www.mci.com
http://www.rackspace.com
http://www.att.com
http://www.verizon.com

It must be possible to put the logo over a photo like in:

http://www.ventanazul.net/proyectos/va4/bo...os/interna1.jpg (http://www.ventanazul.net/proyectos/va4/bocetos/interna1.jpg)

so it must work with dark backgrounds too.

Look at the nav bar of that screenshot, it would be nice if the symbol of the logo could be used as bullet for each of the links on the navigation bar.

My ideas for the new web site are about using sea and sky landscapes photos and the logo top left on the page or maybe inside the photo like the example above.

I have already selected what will be the photo for our home page (we will be changing home page photo once a month but this one will be the first one and other photos will be similar in concept):

http://www.ventanazul.net/proyectos/va4/fo...otos/fotos1.jpg (http://www.ventanazul.net/proyectos/va4/fotos/fotos1.jpg) (it's the second one from top to bottom, the 2 windows to the sea), you could get some inspiration from that image.

Very important: Keep in mind to stay away of any ideas that could be related to Microsoft Windows logo.

The logo must be symbol to the left of the text or symbol over the text.

Here a very interesting article about getting a powerlogo containing some concepts i would like to have in my logo:

http://www.designnewz.com/designnewz-2-200...ogosandWhy.html (http://www.designnewz.com/designnewz-2-20030729GreatLogosandWhy.html)

I need the logo in Adobe Illustrator to be able to play with it.

The winner designer should explain the "why" of the logo because we plan on putting a web page on our site telling the story of the logo with credits to the creator.

Well, thank you very much for reading all this and i hope that together we can get a nice logo.

Regards!

Hi guys, thank you very much for your designs, as everybody in this forum already knows sometimes is very difficult to put in words what you want for a logo, also as everybody says: i will know that's the logo i want when i see it.

Here my comments:

fmavituna

I don't get the shape to the left, also i think the "V" inside the shape it's too obvious, look how AIWA makes the word in its logo, you may know it's "aiwa" but it's not written so clearly.

Try different ideas and also try to pick another font. I'd prefer to maintain blue for the name (green or light blue are not working for me).

Finally, the text: Agencia Web, eCommerce, Hosting (Agencia Web = Web Agency) is not so needed. I'd prefer to focus on the word "ventanazul" and a symbol that people can "connect" to the whole idea of what we do.

coxy

I like the symbol idea, maybe trying some variations to compare?.

The font is not working for me and the idea of "V" in another color, at least in this design, i don't like too much, keep in mind that the emphasis must not be in one letter but in the whole logo and concept.

Including a slogan is ok if you want, it's not needed but if you can make it work then it's ok.

Thanks and keep the great work!

I like the font, maybe changing colors and not so much weight?, so i can compare different combinations?.

The symbol is interesting, could you try some variations please?.

Any other ideas perhaps?.

This logo Represents your company, Ventanazul, producing work and sending it "out of the window". The arrows represent work being completed and delivered.

Hi again, you really work on sunday! :) nice to know i'm not the only one.

Keegan Your design is clean, simple and looks ok but i don't think it reflects our company and what we do (this logo makes me think about an arquictecture company). But i like the style, maybe changing something with the concept of the symbol and trying another kind of font. Also would be interesting to maintain symbol to the left or over the text.

Namdesign I really like the idea and the symbol is easy to understand, i think this is what is nearer to what we are looking for but there are some things that could be changed:

1. Let's try using diferent blues.

2. Different fonts, the current one does not look to "serious", i don't want some super serious font but something in between would be alright.

3. Maybe little variations on the arrows and the "windows" to see more options.

But the concept is one i like, let's see what our other friends can show us and what changes you can do on your design.

Great work everybody! B)

alexisb

Oh, and one more thing, we have decide we will be using our logo on the top left part of our web site, we won't be using it over the photographs, too many colors on the photos that we want to use and we want the logo to be noticed and not remain "hidden" inside the photos.

Most of our web site and stationery will be using white background.

Hi alexisb,
Please accept these ideas as my initial concepts for your logo.

Designs 001 & 002
I was aiming for a literal "Blue Window" idea.
In 001, the blue window replaces the "A" as a stylized icon-replacement letter.
In 002, I moved the window to the front of the business name, and Stylized the "A"
again, but with a more recognizable letterform. The new "A" is supposed to mirror
the "V".

Designs 003 & 004
A bit of a different angle: The squares represent "windows".
In 003, the last window is "open" allowing for progression and movement,
In 004, the grey "windows" are closed, while the blue "window" -- or VentanAzul,
is open to allow for movement, freedom and progress.

The colours are easily changed.
You comments are appreciated.

Thank you,
-Kimber

Hi Kimber, i think that 001 is an interesting concept.

Could we try that the "a" could be a little more similar to a letter but still having that "windowish" look?.

I like the window's shadow idea.

I'd also like to see this design using alternate fonts and maybe darker blue (i use hex #003366 blue).

Maybe playing with all lower case or all upper case could give some interesting combinations too.

Let's try and see what we get.

Thank you for participating.

Hello,

Not sure if his is the direction you want to be heading, the reason for this concept is what I would love to see outside my office window, deep blue sea with the sun beating down on the waves.

Let me have your thoughts

Hi everybody, my comments:

Keegan i like this better than the other one but still i find something that is not convincing me, maybe the concept of what we do is not being sent to clearly. Let's try some different ideas?, maybe playing with some other kind of symbols and not only playing with the letters.

2square I like yours, the symbol is simple but transmits an idea, maybe playing with other color combinations.

I am not to sure with the fonts, could we try other fonts?, maybe all lower case or all upper case?.

Could we see with symbol on the left and on the top variations?.

thanks to everybody and please keep the good work!.

Hi my friends, here my comments:

Dynagirl

I like #2 better than your first idea, let's try chanching that font and maybe a smaller symbol, i like the symbol but compared with the letter is too big, could we try maybe differente colors and transforming a little the shape of the symbol but keeping it simple?.

2square Your #2 is going in the right direction, i really like the font and the way you have played with colors in the word. Could you try putting the "sea" in the symbol with a darker blue?, i think we have too much orange on the design.

I'd also would like to see some variation, minimal variation, on the symbol, maybe the sun part, i don't know, the sun shape is ok but kinda reminds me to a "beach" brand.

Regards!

Michael

Hi guys, i've seen many new ideas and here are my comments:

Dynagirl , Jdesign, Hypnosis sorry but your designs are not going exactly in the direction we have in mind, maybe you could show me some different concepts?.

We have decided that "ventanazul" written all lowercases is the way to go.

2square

We like what we see in your #4b proposal, i guess that what you see outside the window are some trees, i don't know what the line on the sky means. Could we take those two elements out of the design to simplify a little the symbol?.

I really like how you are showing the window, i also like the text and also how you separate by color "ventan" and "azul", keep all lowercases.

Let's see how it looks without the trees and the line on the sky and let's try playing a little with the colors but this is a better direction than the first ones.

Ondarox

Your first concepts are too "microsoft windows" i think.

I really like your second one, the "wooohoooo!" one ;) . I like the perspective of the windows and i would suggest this:

play a little with the "ray of light", maybe stylizing it in some way, also if we could try it going out instead of coming in (our ideas and solutions flow from us through the windows to our customers all over the world).

also let's try passing the ray throught one of the squares and not between the 4 of them.

i am not too sure about the color over the middle "a", i understand that is because the sun is "over" the letter but i am not too sure about "breaking" the letter in two colors.

Another thing would be changing and trying different fonts (sans serif family), remember to keep the word "ventanazul" all lowercase, it's working fine that way.

the symbol and the letters maybe could be integrated in some other ways (symbol left, symbol smaller, symbol on middle top, etc)

finally let's play with the colors, the ray is too much orange for me.

Until now 2square and Ondarox are the designs that fit better with what i have in mind but let's continue working around those ideas and trying new ones.

You all rule!, really good ideas around here!.

This is getting harder to choose, very good ideas :) .

Let's go with comments:

Juneau Sorry, i don't like the idea, let's try with something more to the concept of a windows from where ideas and solutions are sent to our customers, don't focus on the letter "V" or "A". Thanks for helping us on this :)

2square my friend, the symbol on #5a is really really great, i would use that but combined with the letters from #5b, putting "web solutions" over "azu" is also very good idea. I don't know what else to say, nice work, if you can think of new variations would be ok.

I like the design of the biz card too, let's try with the new logo concept.

Namdesign This new one, specially #2, is working great for what we want to express: "solutions from us". I know you all can't copy between the designs but the font used by 2square is the one i like the most from all the design, if you could try with some font going in that direction would be great.

Let's try to put some more contrast between the "blues" of the window and the arrows. I like the shadow.

Finally i don't think that the word "azul" which means "blue" should be in color orange ;) , maybe changing the order of colors or any other variation, or maybe all the same, i don't know.

Thanks to all of you for working on this.

Until now Namdesign , 2square and Ondarox are the ones on top of our preferences, very difficult to choose one, i'll wait to see my last suggestions used and what our other friends can show.

Hey 2square , you're great! , thanks for sharing the font and i look forward to see the revised logo.

One more suggestion for your logo ideas, could we try the symbol #5a, using the "sun" from #5c (orange sun with white "border") and the text from #5b. Thanks!.

[B]Namdesign[/], one more suggestions, could you play a little more with the arrows shapes?, i think current ones are to long, too curve, i don't know, try playing with them.

Hi 2square , both are looking good to me, good one the wave over the letters.

Could we try one more variation?, let's try putting the sun from #5c to see how it fits with these last 2 designs?.

Let's try with an orange sun and with an only blue sky (separate with its white border), let's try it with the last 2 text variations, i think it could go better with the "all blue" ventanazul text if sun is orange (i would not like too much orange on the completed composition).

Thanks!

What about the other competitors?, i would like to see their changes :)

Good luck!

Hi dynagirl, interesting concept, a few comments:

1. I don't feel very good with yellow in the composition.

2. Let's find another font, this one seems all uppercase and too techie i think.

3. The symbol is going in a nice direction but i think we can make something better, also it's important how to integrate it with the text, the current position of the symbol over text and the sizes are not working for me yet.

Thank you very much for participating!.

Hi again my friends, here my comments:

dynagirl: Hi, sorry but the designs still don't look right for me.

2square: Yep, i saw the changes and prefer the symbol without the sun. From the variations of #5 i prefer #5e.

I like your #6 idea too, but i think that the symbol, if used without the letters, could be let too "alone".

One thing i really like are the colors on #6, could we play some variations using colors from #6 on the design #5e?, i like that blue and light brown.

Let's try this: text in #6 (including colors from #6 and the "wave" on the letters from #5e) and symbol from #5e (using blue from #6 and some variation of that same blue).

Tomorrow monday at night we may be making the announcement of the winning logo.
