Thank you for participating in this process:
We are looking for a design for our home page and an interior page template.
Company Details:
1a) Name of Company: NineSigma
1b) Company Tag Line or slogan: Accelerating the Innovation Cycle
1c & d) Do you have a company logo? Yes (see the banner on http://myninesigma.com for the latest logo and colors)
1e) What is the nature of your business? Briefly describe your products or services:
NineSigma is an Open Innovation company. This means that we help our customers, primarily Fortune 500 companies, find innovative technology and solutions to complex technical problems. This is done by having our team of experienced scientists work with the client to first define the problem (or need) in the form of an RFP (request for proposal). (visit http://www.ninesigma.com/mx/newsletter.html to see RFP examples) The RFP is then distributed to a global network of scientists, universities, small businesses, engineers, inventors, etc. Anyone with a viable solution or technology is welcome to respond.
If you have access to the March 2006 issue of Harvard Business Review (http://hbswk.hbs.edu/archive/5258.html), you can read about our work with P&G. Otherwise, take a look at the Wired article on Crowdsourcing - though we are only mentioned, you will get a good idea of the general concept. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/14.06/crowds.html (Design Outpost is a good crowdsourcing example, as well)
1f) Who is your target market? Who are you hoping to reach with your site?
NineSigma currently does business with 70 of the Fortune 100 but we need all other researchers and technology decision makers’ at large businesses to understand what we do. We’d like to accomplish the following goals:
a. Build instant credibility with potential customers (Innovation Seekers) or research partners (Solution Providers)
b. Make it clear that we are speaking to both groups (Innovation Seekers and Solution Providers) on the home page
c. Create a compelling, relevant browsing experience that is compatible with the look and feel of the corporate logo and communicates who we are and what we do
d. Since we need to speak clearly to both groups (Innovation Seekers and Solution Providers), the layout needs to support this dual role (for example, a possible approach could be a vertical tab like this: http://www.exozet.com)
1g) We need the website to quickly establish our credibility with a first time visitor:
a. The name, NineSigma, is not descriptive of who we are so we need a location for a 4-5 sentence statement on the home page that defines the company.
b. Include the logos of some of the large, well-know companies we do business with (use dummy logos for the layout)
c. We’d like to include a small picture and testimonial from one or two of our customers.
d. Provide a way for both Innovation Seekers and Solution Providers to get to their portion of the website quickly.
e. Perhaps you could put together a graphic or illustration that underscores our role in the research/scientific community that also illustrates our access to global resources.
Website Details
2a) Do you have an existing website? If so, what is the URL?
www.ninesigma.com (The site is built using Plone)
2b) IMPORTANT: Please list at least 3 URLs (web addresses) of high quality sites that you like the look of (these do not have to be sites who’s business is similar to yours. It aids us in determining what your design style is.) Please consider layout, colors, navigation, graphics, and typography.
a) http://apple.com
b) http://motorola.com
c) http://bcg.com
d) http://springwise.com (minus the ad at the top)
e) http://claritysystems.com/
2c) What colors or color schemes would you like?
Complimentary to the logo
2d) List the Navigation links for your Site:
-Company Profile
-About Us
-Innovation Seekers
-Solution Providers
-MyNineSigma
-News / Articles
2e) What type of look are you trying to achieve? (e.g. clean, high-tech, conservative, warm, flashy, etc.)
Innovative, forward-thinking, colloborative spirit
2f) Provide the addresses of competitors' sites, if possible:
Other companies working in the Open Innovation space include: Innocentive.com and Yet2.com (dislike design)
2g) Do you have any images for use in the design of your site? If not, do you have images, can you offer suggestions of what you type of imagery you feel would be most suitable for your website:
Imagery that represents innovation, global reach, and our collaborative approach to solving complex technical problems.
Deadlines and Deliverables
3a) What is the deadline for the design of your project?
12/8/06
3b) What is required breakdown of the files you require our designers to supply you with on finalization of your project?
PSD at a minimum but HTML is preferred
Are there any other comments/specific ideas we should keep in mind while designing your project?
Please post some rough or loose concepts quickly and we will help you home in on what we are looking for.
Thanks again and we look forward to working with you!
