Hello!

We need a masthead logo for a newsletter we publish for authors and publishers called "Book Marketing Update"

Below are the specs for the logo, which we want to select a designer by this Thursday, November 30th and for which we're willing to pay $350.00

Here are the specs:

* Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

Bill & Steve Harrison's (pre-head)
Book Marketing Update (main)
Helping you sell more books (tagline)

* What type of product or service do you offer?

A monthly print newsletter that tells authors and publishers about case histories of successful book promotion campaigns as well as opportunities to get publicity and/or sell large quantities of books.

* How long have you been in business? 21 years

* What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

#1 - a fresh look
#2 - our old logo was stacked like this...

Book Marketing
Update

and we didn't like it. We MUST have the phrase "Book Marketing Update" all on one line (with pre-heads and taglines above and below)

* What are your long term goals?

* When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Thursday, November 30th

* Audience Profile: authors and publishers of non-fiction books

* Who would you like to add to your audience?

* Perception/Tone/Guidelines:

* What type of logo would you like? again, must have the phrase "Book Marketing Update" on one line

We plan to use it as the masthead of the publication as well as for stationary.

* Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

*Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Maybe you could incorporate the image of a book into the design

Much of our use will probably be for a black-and-white version but we also want a color version. In terms of colors, we tend to like darker colors more but we're open to your suggestions.

* Communication Strategy: What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Hard to say, but some ideas include an air of energy, competence, opportunity and possibility

* What is your tagline or slogan?
Either: The newsletter that helps you sell more books
OR
Helping you sell more books

* What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

See Communciation Strategy above

* Where will your new logo be used?

Masthead of the print newsletter
Envelopes
Letterhead
Business cards

* Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

* List competitive URLs if possible -- We don't really have any direct competition for this one

* What sets you apart from your competitors?
Targeted Message:

* State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Helping you sell more books

Hi,

My thanks to the designers who've submitted designs so far. A few pieces of feedback:

1) We consider all three words of "Book Marketing Update" pretty much of equal weight.

2) I tend to like designs with the name in upper and lower case (e.g. Book Marketing Update) as opposed to all upper case (BOOK MARKETING UPDATE)

Thanks

Bill

Hello,

My thanks to every one who submitted designs. It was a close call but ultimately we've decided to go with the design done by graphxguy.

Graphyxguy ... please contact me accordingly because I have a few minor changes I'd like made before I get files from you.

Thanks

Thanks for choosing my design. A mod will move this thread to the Revisions Forum. In the meantime, you can post any revisions you want in this same thread and I will take care of them.

Thanks again and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Stephen...

Could you substitute our tag line "The newsletter that helps you sell more books" or "Helping you sell more books" instead of the swervy line under the name?

Then I guess I just need the files

Not sure if this is against the rules, but if not you can email me directly at Bill@rtir.com

Bill,
Here are four versions of the requested revisions. I left the bracket in on two of them. This upside-down bracket is supposed to represent a profile view of an open book. I just have a concern that the overall "book" feel of the design might be getting lost. However, if you prefer it to be removed in the final version, I will do so. I'm only looking out for your best interest.

Thanks.

Stephen
