This logo must be simple, modern, professional to the max, and not contain the usual coffee symbols done to death by others. This company is a supplier of coffee product to a number of wholesale distributors, pitching itself at the high end of image and quality - so the logo should be synonymous with this. Furthermore, it must be able to stand out amongst verbage on the back of coffee bags.

The name of the company is: GS Roasting

The name of our company is: GS Roasting This is not glamourous, but is part of a larger GS Group. So, the successful designer here will get the heads up to create a cross section of similar logos for other sister companies. In essence, this logo must be scalable.
For this initial job, the money offered is $150.

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
GS Roasting
What type of product or service do you offer?
Roasted coffee product
How long have you been in business?
We are a start up company, commencing in late December 2006
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Whilst we supply products branded with the logos of our wholesale distributors, we aim to position ourselves visibly on all packaging (so the logo must have cut through) and the logo must be perceived as quality in an instant, and have simplicity without all the common coffee related symbols. Our image is that of premium, in every little detail, so the logo must reflect that.
What are your long term goals?
Our goals include top end positioning in the espresso coffee market - internationally. The roasting company is but one of an array of products and services offered by the GS Group.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Is as soon as possible allowed. We kick off in late December, but this will be a soft opening. We will go public in January 2007, so I would like something to review prior to that month.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audienceThis is difficult in that at some time or other, all levels of the marketplace will be exposed to us. Primarilty we will deal with the wholesale market, but several objectives will see us also become known at the green bean brokerage level, the retail level, and the end consumer of coffees.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
As above
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?Clean, simple, easily recognisable, speaking of quality, timeless, without any coffee symbols done to death by others, and powerful combination of colours, emotive, lasting.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)No. Will consider anything. However, we are looking for something outside of the square.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No. Again, willing to consider anything outside of ordinary.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Quality second to none. Professionalism second to none.
What is your tagline or slogan?
We do not have one since our wholesale customers have them. We subscribe to the theory less is more and want word of mouth to generate its own tagline.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
That our coffees are second to none in quality and taste and enjoyment
Where will your new logo be used?
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
I do not believe that any roasting company reflects a truly professional image. Nearly all prefer the rustic, grungy or bohemian look. Imargin Mercedes, Bentley, Rolls Royce and you will get a sesnse of type of logo desired
List competitive URLs if possible
Too many to mention. A Google search will result in thousands of URLs.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
The combination of the whole GS Group is geared to deliver high end outcomes to the international coffee industry. GS is involved in consultancy to all levels of the market down to retail. The roasting company is simply a manifestation of the quality work that we speak of. Our focus is on building up relationships with potential wholesalers - who we then train up to exploit gaps in the marketplace. Our focus is on the human side of the business - customer relationships - with a tangible , and truly, high end product. Our philosophy is that all inputs must be of the highest quality, irrespective of price, so that we can deliver the most high end product , via our wholesale merchants, to the end market so that it can taste the difference and spread word of mouth. So far, all other companies focus on lowering costs of inputs, so that they can save on reduced overheads - a very short term gain. We grow people's businesses based on knowing what grows sales.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Open for discussion. Some of the above would clue you in. I invite suggestions.

I do not want swirly fonts - the image I have in mind for any logo is of the a similar level and style as: Mercedes Benz, Georg Jensen, Bentley etc.

Abstract elegant coffee bean. With a hidden coffee cup. Something different. Takes a keen eye to see.
