Just an update that I will be closing this post in 24 hours if there is no other interest expressed. i am still very interested to see any other concepts if anyone is interested. Thanks!

Company Name:
Studio E Photographic

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Just my business name (studio E photographic)

What type of product or service do you offer?
Wedding and Portrait (maternity, children, families, seniors) photography

How long have you been in business?
1 year but I am transitioning to a new business name and identity for which this logo will be for

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I hope the logo will help to solidify my brand, be memorable and professional, and be versatile for use in different marketing materials and formats

What are your long term goals?
To have a successful high end wedding and portrait photography studio and expand my studio space and staff. I hope to be recognized within my community and to have a lot of repeat business due to my high level of service and quality images.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
December 14th, 2006

Audience Profile:
Engaged couples, couples expecting child, families with children, high school seniors. Mostly educated individuals from the middle- to upper-socioeconomic class, more contemporary in style and between the ages of 25 and 45.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Models, actors, more of the same as above

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I would like something clean and simple, I would like the “E” to be the strongest element. I would like some contemporary, fresh and classy. I would hope for a logo that is versatile in being both representative of my elegant wedding style and fun and fresh portrait style. I would like it if I could have one logo with two different colour schemes, one for my wedding materials and one for my portrait materials.

I would like something that I could adjust up or down in size without loss of quality and clarity.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I am not tied to any specific colours, however, I would like to differentiate the wedding and portrait sides of my business by using the same logo but perhaps using a different colour scheme. For example, I would like to use a more classic, subdued colour for use in wedding materials, and a brighter colour for use in my portrait materials. I would also like a black & white version for some print materials.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I would definitely like the strongest element in the logo to be the letter E. I would be thrilled if the E was styled such that I could use it alone (i.e. minus the studio and photographic) on proofs, etc… I would prefer for “studio E” to be the focus and “photographic” to be less prominent. I am open to the “e” being either lower or uppercase, as long as it stands out.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
I would like it to be professional, contemporary, classy and artsy, with a “high end” feel, and to be memorable.

What is your tagline or slogan?
still fleshing this out, but it will center around the word “experience” because my business is all about creating an experience for the client

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
I would like it to convey that studio E is an artistic experience, with top notch customer service and quality, and that is approachable and fun

Where will your new logo be used?
In my advertising and marketing materials, business cards, letterhead , my website, as a watermark on all photo proofs (done in Photoshop CS2), in brochures, etc…
I will be using the logo on my new website for which I have already purchased a template. You can see the design of my new website here (http://www.bludomain6.com/z27/ ) (please note that I this is only the template for the overall design, they are not my images and I will be using a different colour scheme)

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
There are many competitors, but few with logos, I have posted the URLs of the sites and/or blogs of some of my competitors below

www.amphoto.ca (http://www.amphoto.ca) and his blog (http://www.amphoto.ca/blog) (like his logo’s simplicity and versatility, not keen on the colours)

blog only www.gallantphoto.com/blog (http://www.gallantphoto.com/blog) (logo at blog header not partial to the logo font, a little too sterile for my taste)

What sets you apart from your competitors?
My unique style and dedication to providing v.i.p. service and experience to my clients and unique products

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: An Experience

Thanks so much!
Lorraine

Different colours available on request. Feedback welcomed.

Here's an idea: We take the photos. You take an experience.
Or You keep the experience.
Just an idea.

First, thank you for the tag line suggestion, I will think on that. Also, thank you for your logo submission, I really like the fact that Studio E jumps out at you and photographic is deemphasized. I like the use of all caps with photographic and the siomplicity of the font, I would prefer if studio were all in lowercase. I would also prefer if the E were not attached to the word "studio" and were a unique font as I would like to use it alone and really want to emphasize the E. The font used for studio E may be a little too casual and not feminine enough considering my client base. My web design and studio design is very minimalist with simple shapes and lines.

Coincidentally, I stumbled upon a photographer in the US (I am in Canada) who has a business name Studio E Photography and I really liked the feel of his logo, which you can see on his website splash page at http//:www.studio-e-photo.com if interested.

Thanks!

Thank you for the submissions. I apologize for not posting feedback sooner, I haven't had a chance to get online any sooner. Let me give some feedback...

Offbeat, Your Version 1 is my favourite thus far, I'm not certain about the font used for STUDIO & photographic, but I definitely prefer it to the 2nd version in message #6. I like the concept though and love that the E is the focus and that that element could be used one its own.

In Version 3 I appreciate where you were going and Version 4, but I much prefer the feminine quality of your first Version in message #4.

Asparagus Productions, I like the revisions you made to your initial design offering, I like the font you used for the "E", but I am still not partial to the font used for studio. It is a very nice logo, but I don't feel that it conveys the "high end" impression or clean & simple look that I am going for.

My client meeting areas and my album designs I offer are very minimalist in design, as are my images so I am definitely looking for something that is clean, simple and probably no more than 2 colours.

Thanks again for the submissions, I would love to see some more ideas or concepts, anyone?

Wow, you are all so very talented, I am very impressed.

Tini1, Love the font, and although the graphic is nice, I would prefer to not have the graphic and have the "E" be the focal point of the design. If you could modify the "E" in some way to stand out more and lose the graphic this would have great potential for me.

Fran, I REALLY like this but it is a little too masculine feeling, perhaps if the font for studio was something more feminine. Another issue is that it may be much too similar to one of my main competitor's logo which you can view at http://www.amphoto.ca (it is an a & m inside of a blue circle). I love the circle, it might just be too similar to his. I would also want to use a different colour, perhaps pink or green.

Offbeat, I like these choices, I will have to think on it as to which I prefer, I like version 5 or 8 with the serifs I think. I also realized that one of my main competitors uses that shade of blue so I would go with a different colour, say pink or green, but that is a very minor detail.

Medigraph, I like this, very unique, I like that the "e" is the focal point and can stand alone. Two things though, first, it should say "photographic", not "photography" and second, the "e" may look a little too much like the @ symbol, could we adjust this?

Thanks again!

Thanks you for feed back...here is a revision, studio e, as a standalone image :)

Some color options on the last serif version. As you mentioned, there's no reason you can't use multiple versions of the logo with different colors for different applications. Thanks.

Fran, sorry I missed your 2nd version in my last post, while I think your second design is most certainly attractive, however I think I am looking for a more unique "e" as I would very much like to be able to use the "e" as a standalone as well. Your first design concept made the "e" more unique and visually interesting (artistic I guess would be the word)which I really did like if only my competitor's just wasn't so similar.

Medigraph, this is an improvement, aesthetically I think it looks beautiful, I just fear that people who do not know of me will not think it is an "e" but a curly cue or graphic. Truly beautiful to my eyes because I know what it is, just worried about the potential clients who are having their first encounter. Would love to see more from you or hear your thoughts.

Tini1, I think I confused my initial response in that what I would like to be able to stand alone is the "E" only. I love the feel of the font you have chosen and I believe that you are envisioning something that would appeal to my target market, I just wonder if you might have an idea that would make the "E" be able to be used alone. While it could stand alone from this design by using the font I think it would lose the impact that it has in your current design with the accompanying text. I'd love to see if you could do something along those lines because I think you are definitely think you have a style that I am drawn to.

Offbeat, thank you so much for posting the varieties of colours, it really allows me to visualize how it could be used in different ways.

I appreciate everyone's efforts and thank you for your submissions. I can see that the decision will be a difficult one. I am still interested in seeing if there are any other ideas out there. Thank you.

Thanks for the feedback. One more concept from me, going back to the shutter idea, but using a more elegant "E". The duplicate E forms the shutter, and also suggests a relationship which works for portraits or weddings. Again, the logo element could be used on its own or with the rest of the text.

Lorraine

Thanks Offbeat, that is nice, but I have to say that I prefer the simplicity of the single E in your other design.

One of the reasons I wanted to have an "E" that I could use on its own is that I would like to use it creatively in some unique ways, for example, I will offer multiple prepaid sessions at a discount to parents and would call it the "Ekids Club". There is a photographer who has the logo similar to this: [b] (see his website at http://www.thebecker.com ) and he uses this in a lot of materials. For examples his brides get [b]ride t-shirts, I'd love to use the "E" in a similar fashion, so I love the idea of a stand alone "E". However, if I saw a logo and just knew that was "it" then I would be willing to work privately with the designer (and pay for their services of course) to help me come up with creative uses for the logo in materials. I really want to capitalzie on use of the logo so that I can gain a high level of recognizability in my community (be memorable so to speak). This forum is a great avenue not only to get a job done, but to find fabulous designers that you can build a future working relationship with as well. All of the work shown has me excited for the possibilities as the amount of talent is remarkable.

I invite anyone to submit any other ideas and will work on showing a "test audience" of current clients and my employees these designs to get some other perspectives and a test group opinuion so to speak.

Sorry for rambling, just so very impressed with the calibre of work here. Thanks again to all!

First, sorry to take some time to reply, I always try to be prompt.

Fran, yes, this is much more along the lines of what I was thinking, a feminine font, an "E" that can be used on its own and more of a departure from my competition. Very nice.

Tini1, your first revision, version 2, I much prefer to your version 3.

Medigraph, yes, with this "E" there is no question as to what you are looking at. I loved the look of your other "E", but I can't always trust that my clientele will "get" it as quickly as you or I would.

Thanks again to all, I am awaiting feedback on your designs from my mini "test group". Also, to notify anyone else who may be considering submitting a design could you post to let me know as I am open to more suggestions, but if there is no other interest, I will consider choosing early. In fairness to all, f I do, I will post 24 hours notice to all.

Thanks again!

Sorry to not post for a day or so, I had personal commitments that kept me away. Tini1 your last version is nice, but I still prefer your previous versions to this particular one.

Fran, if you read this could I please see your version 3 in message number 27 exacty as is but with "photographic" in a non-script font please? Thank you!

I am going to leave this up for 24 more hours and if no one else expresses any interest in making a submission then i will close early and make my choice. Thanks!

Thank you to everyone who submitted a design, it was a very hard choice to make. However, I have decided that I would like to work with Fran. Fran, your version 3b is fine as is, I think I would just like to change the colour of the final design. I will be in touch within 24 hours with any minor revisions--such as colour--and what file formats I will need.

Thank you,

Lorraine
