Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Monach Software

What type of product or service do you offer?
Custom software development (not targeted to one particular industry or niche).

How long have you been in business?
2 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Clean & professional look.

What are your long term goals?
To stay in business...

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
18th December

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Small/Medium based local (Perth, Australia) businesses

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Non-local businesses

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Clean & professional.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
The existing logo is black & red - I like the colours as they contrast but aren't garish. However, I will move away from these if there's an alternative I like. I don't really want a technocolour design, ie lots of flowery colours - I would prefer two, maybe three, colours.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
There are none that need to be in the logo - however, I like the idea of having a logo with an image that I can use seperately from the text.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Professional

What is your tagline or slogan?

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Creating Useable Software Solutions. It's not that imaginative but most of our customers just want a system that works well for their business.

Where will your new logo be used?
Website, business cards, letterhead, etc.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
N/A

List competitive URLs if possible
N/A

What sets you apart from your competitors?
As mentioned above, the ability to sit down with our customers and guide them through the process, arm in arm, to produce a product that they're happy with.

I like the designs from senterbrands.com (clean & crisp) and rajasandhu.com (a bit more adventorous but still very professional looking).

Thanks for your time - I'm looking forward to seeing your work!

It's Monach :)

Years ago I was a contractor in Scotland and my consulting company was named Monach Consultants. The Monach Isles (http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=57.525783~-7.638065&style=r&lvl=9&tilt=-90&dir=0&alt=-1000) are a small group of islands off the west coast of Scotland. So the naming of the company was more historical than significant (ie, I don't really want islands in the logo just because the company name is derived from a group of islands).

Also, for the logo the m doesn't need to be capitalized - eg 'monach software' is fine.

Celtic knotwork since the name has a Scottish origin.

Hello from a fellow Perthy :)

Thanks guys for your initial efforts.

1. Senter - they're clean but a bit too basic.
2. Freetime - I like the idea. Splitting the monach from software in the text and changing the font size looks good. I like the fact that the icon could be used on it's own (nice having 'software' in there at the bottom). However, I would be concerned that it wouldn't scale down well onto a business card ('software' would be hard to read at the bottom). Also I feel that the font of 'Monach Softare' & the style of the big M is a bit too 'War Of The Worlds' or gives it more of a Games software company type of feel (if that makes sense :) ).
3. Fabian - don't like the butterfly at all. For me, either the icon should be abstract or it should be directly related to the name of the company.

So my Monach butterfly did'nt work for you,i'll see what
else I can come up with :)

i) freetime - your v2 and v3 are interesting - I'll pass them round and get some more feedback,
ii) Fabian - it's a change in the right direction, but maybe a bit too subtle.
iii) Medigraph - on the right track, but cubes seem to be everywhere,
iv) Senter - it's very formal, and certainly fits into the 'clean & professional' category, but the graphic is a wee bit nondescript - it couldn't really be used on it's own.

Thanks for everyone's input - if you have any more ideas I'd love to see them.

Sorry for the lack of communication - I've been unwell over the last week.

i) Pracus (#18) - I would find it difficult using the icon on it's own, but otherwise nice and clean.
ii) Ratbaggy (#19) - it certainly fulfills all my criteria, but I'm not sure of it personally. However, I'll pass it round for comment.
iii) Logoholik (#20) - again, fulfills the requirement and I'll pass it round.
iv) Senter (#21) - funnily enough I quite like the dot design but I think it's been done quite a lot recently.
v) Logoholik (#22) - sorry, don't like this; too jaggy for me.
vi) Logoholik (#23) - this is better ; but the M logo is a wee bit plain.
vii) Medigraph (#24) - I like this; I'll pass it round for comment.
viii) Logoholik (#25) - This one is quite striking. I'm not sure about the use of the logo on it's own, but I certainly pass it round for comment.
ix) Unorthodox (#26) - I like the look of this, but one of our clients has a logo that looks quite similar. I'll have to check out how similar it will actually be...
x) TwistedMedia (#27) - Not too keen on the 'flower' kind of design.

Lots of new ideas - thanks. I'll get more feedback from the rest of the team today.

Thanks everyone for your time & effort - we've been impressed with the results.

After careful consideration we've decided to go with one of freetime's designs - thanks to all the other designers for their input.

Thank you very much for choosing my design. Please let me know which version you like and we can get this moved to the revisions folder to finalize everything. Thanks again!

RobJ123
01-04-2007, 04:04 PM
freetime - was it just the four versions that you posted? I could have sworn that you posted a version that had a box around it and was labelled 'Business Card'. But that was before the holidays and it could have just been my imagination!

freetime
01-04-2007, 04:35 PM
Yes, I did, but it was removed. I didn't know, but according to the guidelines, I'm not supposed to post something like that until the client asks to see it on a business card. One of the versions that had "Software" small on it was what I had posted that way.

freetime
01-04-2007, 06:06 PM
It was either Message 8 or Message 29

RobJ123
01-08-2007, 02:36 PM
The reason I asked is because I like both of your designs. Version 4 (and 5 which was removed) got a lot of votes and so we would probably want to go with it, but I still have a concern over how small the font is. As a fall back I would be happy to go with your other design. Is it possible to put the missing version into the revisions folder so that I can look at it and make a few adjustments? Then if it doesn't work out can we just revert to your other design? Thanks.

Here are two looks. I placed one on a business card.

RobJ123
01-10-2007, 02:19 AM
The one on the left looks good. Just a couple of things
i) I would want to be able to shrink it to at least half the size on the business card and still be able to read the 'SOFTWARE' in the icon,

ii) The 'M' in the icon - could you make the 'v' part not go as far down (it's almost touching the SOFTWARE at the bottom - could we try it at maybe halfway down?) - hope that makes sense.

Thanks

Here are those revisions. If you send me a private message with your email, I can send a pdf that'll show the business card size more accurately. Thanks!

I'm happy with this version - could you send me the artwork please?
