Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
TracTrac

What type of product or service do you offer?
TracTrac offers GPS-based LIVE-tracking. Please see www.tractrac.com for information on the company and the services we offer.

How long have you been in business?
2 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Our primary business area is LIVE-tracking of sport and therefore it is important that the logo conveys action, dynamics and excitement. Furthermore, the fact that the tracking is LIVE is very central to our service. At the same time it is very important that the logo inspires confidence in the company and our ability to deliver a stable and well-functioning technology. Our company and our technology should be regarded as reliable, professional and dependable.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
15th of January

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Our target audience is typically interested in outdoor, endurance sports (cycling, adventure sports, mountain running etc) and we would like to leverage on the tough and sporty image of these sports to appeal to our audience. We want to appeal broadly to people interested in sports or related areas where LIVE-tracking can be used (i.e. we do not want to be seen as a nerdy tech-company)

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Ideally we would want a logo that can be used both separately and in conjunction with the name of the company.

In the powerpoint-file www.tractrac.dk/misc/webpage&logo.ppt you will find some of our ideas about the logo – and the webpage that it should be on.
Page 1 is a model of our current webpage containing our current logo.
Page 2 is a model of how we imagine our webpage will look after redesign.
Page 3 contains some drafts and ideas for the new logo.
The image at the top of page 3 is a draft of how we imagine our text-logo should look (font, colour etc). The two images in the middle is our thought of how imagine that text-logo and graphic logo could be incorporated in each other. The red dot inside the last C of TracTrac symbolises the LIVE-position of a tracked object and the fact that it is inside the C symbolises that it is in focus and at the centre of attention. The image at the bottom is an example of how the logo should be able to stand alone (i.e. not in conjunction with the text.)

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Primarily different shades of blue – and perhaps some red (see above).

The logo should be applicable with just one colour as well. Similarly the logo it should be possible to use just the outline of the logo.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Action, dynamics and excitement.
Reliable, professional and dependable.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Right here. Right now.
..or
Action! LIVE

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
See above.

Where will your new logo be used?
We are currently working on giving our web-page a make-over and in that process we would like a new logo that can be used on the web-page – but in the end it should be suitable for all corporate communication (letter heads, business cards, ads, logowear, posters etc).

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
There are few direct competitors because it is a new business area. Traxu (www.traxu.com) is a direct competitor. Their logo is quite nice because the X and the rings show how Traxu is able to present from the centre of the action.

List competitive URLs if possible
http://www.traxu.com/
www.frwd.fi
www.sportsim.com

Final remarks:
We have presented some ideas we have about the looks of the logo, colours etc, but please feel free to be creative if you have a unique and elegant proposal for our logo that differs from what we had in mind.

I don't think there is an admin code - but I am new on Design Outpost so I am not really sure. (what is the Admin Code used for?)

Dear designers,

Thank you for your input and all the creativity. We are very excited about the creativity and the quality of the designs proposed. We have been evaluating the designs and chosen 3 logo designs which are our favourites and 2 which are strong outsiders, and we expect to select the final design between these five logo proposals.

Below you will find some short comments to each of these 5 designs. Please have a look and see how you might improve your design and do feel free to seek inspiration in the comments we have given even to the designs which are not yours.

In addition to small adaptions we would like to see the possibility of variations of the design. TracTrac has 4 business areas (Sport&Event, Teambuilding, SkiTrac and Trac 24-7 – see description of each business area on www.tractrac.com). We would like you to show how variations of your design can be applied to the different business areas.

Hot favourites
Version 1 from Radojevich
Very nice design. We like the colours (two shades of a conservative blue and a little bit of dynamic red) and the font. We like the associations that the logo gives. Maybe the circles should somehow be linked closer to the text and drawn more towards the center of the C. (and maybe there is a risk that the red dot and circles will give associations of a lit cigarette and smoke rings).

Version 4 from Offbeat Design
Good, but a little too static. We would like a little more life to the design. The font is a little too square.

Version 1.0 from Medigraph
Good, but a little too static. We would somehow like a little more action and movement in the design.

Strong outsiders
Version 2 from Senter
Too much red. We don’t like red in the text. We like the basic idea of the logo and but it is a little too noisy. If it could be made a little cleaner and simpler it might be a winning logo.

Version 1b from Logoholik
We like the colours and the font and the simplicity of the logo. However the triangles seem a little random and don’t seem to interact too well with the text. If this interaction could be improved and the association to our business could be strengthened it would be a great logo.

Feel free to write directly to chris@tractrac.dk if anything in the comments needs to be elaborated.

Dear designers,

Thank you for your proposals. We are now very close to having the design that we want. We are down to 2 favourites:

Radojevic - version 2 and Logoholik - version 4

For these two we have the following comments

Radojevic - version 2
1. The blue should be lighter (almost as light as the light blue in version 3)
2. The red dot should be a little more distinct (a little bit larger and maybe with a little bit of shine).
3. We like your version 2 better than your more recent version because the C in TracTrac is more circular and hence interacts better with the red arcs.
4. We like the font but it could be a tiny bit less dense/compact.

Logoholik - version 4
1. Colours: The text should be the colours used in version 3 (i.e. no red in the text). The arcs should be red.
2. There should be a red dot in middle of the C.

In general:
We could like to be able to use the last C in TracTrac together with the graphical elements (dot/arcs) independently as a logo or icon. Hence it is important that there is a good balance between the last C and the graphical elements (dot and/or arcs etc.).

When the project is finalized we would like the following deliveries

1. The text-logo without subtitles.
2. The text-logo with each of these 5 subtitles: "Right Here. Right Now.", "Sport&Event", " Teambuilding", "SkiTrac" and "Trac 24-7".
3. The final C of TracTrac together with the graphical elements (dot/arcs) as an independent logo

We would like once again to thank all designers for great input. Unfortunately we can only select one and after very careful consideration we have made up our minds.

We prefer the logo from Logoholik.

To Logoholik:
In the end me have settled with version 6, but with the colour scheme of version 6 (i.e. dark blue for the left part of the text, light blue for the right part of the text and no red colours in the design).
We would like you to send us all variations of the logo both with and without the dot in the center of the C in relevant formats (at least .gif, .jpg and .eps).
If you can provide us with your contact information in case we would need some modifications at a later stage, we would be grateful.

Thanks. The light blue has turned out funny in the .eps-files. It's more like turquise ~RGB(0,232,191). Should be RGB(1,154,196).

Can you mail me again?

Could you mail me the hex colour references as well?

Best regards,

hmm, all colors are pantone reffeneced as in my post #51. That particular color is pantone 3135 which reads: cyan 100, yellow 16 and black 9 or 0,155,196 in rgb or hex #009BC4. I dunno where did you get those color numbers. I've rechecked both illustrator 8 .eps, jgp and gif files that i've sent you - eps in illustrator, png and jpg in photoshop. What software are you using to open that eps? No problem for the ai files, may i ask you why do you need them, cause i've sent you original illustrator vector eps files which are almost the same as ai and from same application.
Cheers,
Bojan

Hi Bojan,

I am opening them in Paint Shop Pro vers 7.02.

Have a look at the attachment. That's the colour the eps-logo has when I open it in Paint Shop (and resave in jpg).

Cheers

eps files are vector print ready cmyk. They are not intendent to be opened in applications dealing with rgb/screen color mode only. That color shift is happening when you try to open cmyk files in rgb only application. I am still confused why are you opening eps file in bitmap editing application such as paintshop pro - i've already sent you jpg's for that purpose. Let me know what do you try to accomplish so i could possibly help you further.
