View Full Version : [ProjectComplete] Due: Jan 17 - Crooster College Career Website Logo - $300
(Admin code added by Palmer - 21K30997V9096314K)
Hi Guys!
Thanks so much for taking a look at our submission!
Logo Design Assessment
To guide the designers in the right direction from the start, please complete the following questionnaire and copy and paste it in the first message of your logo project:
Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Crooster
What type of product or service do you offer?
This company is supposed to appeal to college kids who are interested in obtaining summer internships (financial services related). Students primarily interested in Investment Banking, Sales & Trading, Operations, and IT are going to the be the initial target. The logo should have a hip but business-like feel that college kids can relate to (we want to attract students who may not even have considered to work in the financial industry).
How long have you been in business?
New company – just starting
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
To attract college students who are interested in internships in the finance industry to this company in the hopes of getting an insider’s look into potential jobs.
What are your long term goals?
To create a sustainable brand that repeatedly attracts newly grown up college kids.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
January 3rd
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
College students seeking a competitive internship.
Who would you like to add to your audience?
More of the above.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
The logo should be both playful yet direct and professional.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Yes. We want to encourage everyone to think of any possible images – however, one idea we were playing around with is a rooster mascot (crooster can also be seen as “cool rooster” or “career rooster”). The first “r” in crooster may be of the image of a business-looking rooster’s head. Another idea might be of a trendy looking rooster in a business suit, on the side of the “crooster” text. Again, we want to emphasize that these are just ideas we are toying with and that we are definitely open to ideas that do not contain a rooster.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
The logo should reflect the trendy, competitive and business-minded/“going places” attitude.
What is your tagline or slogan?
None yet.
Where will your new logo be used?
On a website and in print.
Happy Holidays to everyone!
Eugene :)

yeah, he is definitely relaxed enough to be a c-rooster :)

and another one :)
Pracus, it's looking good so far. Can't wait to see the other submissions!
Some comments:
The font in the first submission looks a bit too laid back for what we are trying to convey. I think it should have more of an intense feel. Same with the font in the second submission. Is there something with a more professional feel?
The rooster illustrations look nice. I think we're looking for something a little bit different though -- can we see some where the rooster looks more "cool, professional and in control." Rooster #1 looks a bit slouchy and rooster #2 a bit clueless (even though both are quite cute!)
I hope my feedback makes sense, let me know if I can clear anything up.
As a reminder, we would also love to see ideas that do not have a rooster at all.
Thanks for your work so far! Happy holidays!

the "C" symbol represents financial/"in the black", but also a change in path (referencing those you mentioned who might not have realized initially they'd be working in the financial sector)

do you sentenced the first one to be our studio's character - we'll use him :)
here is something more complex.
and a Happy New Year!
Hi everyone!
Thank you again for all of your hard work. I wanted to give some feedback on all of the submissions so I've made the following image:
http://i133.photobucket.com/albums/q77/ygaysins/CroosterLogos.png
1. Out of all of the submissions this is most similar to what we had in mind. We like the look of the character -- he definitely has a cool look -- we love the sunglasses. He appears to be a bit slouchy though. Can he be drawn to look a bit more confident in himself? Also, is it possible to move the character to the side of the text -- that may make it easier to use on the web. We would also love to see a slightly different font -- something a bit more intense and less cartoony looking. Keep up the great work, pracus, we are loving it so far.
2. This is also a good submission. We like the look of rooster #1 more, though. The font is closer to what we had in mind, though.
3. I think this logo is a little bit too simple to catch the eyes of our audience. Thank you for submitting it though. We would love to see what else you have in mind.
4. Same as #3... it is a bit too simple to catch the eye of our target audience.
5. This is a good attempt at putting the rooster over the R. The look is a bit different from what we had in mind though. The rooster doesn't appear to have that cool, business-like look that we had in mind.
6. This is also a good submission. The rooster is not what we had in mind, though. The tie is a nice touch, but he lacks that cool, business look.
7. This is a good try, but we're afraid it's too hard to read and it's hard to figure out what the character is. We think the logo has a lot of potential though.
8. This is a good attempt of replacing the r with the rooster. The character looks good, but I'm afraid it is too difficult to read. We do like this logo though, so we would love to see more.
Thanks for the great work so far everyone! We are looking forward to seeing more submissions.
I wanted to describe our image of replacing the "r" in Crooster with a rooster's head again: If the "r" is lowercase, the right tip of the "r" looks like a beak and the vertical line looks a bit like a neck.
Also, I want to reiterate, that we would love to see logos without a rooster as well.
Thank you very much for the submissions!
Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

An aggressive, career-oriented look :) yet still shows curiousity - a typical attitude of college students looking for internships.

Hi! Here's one from me. Thanks! :)
Thanks again for the submissions.
Pracus v4
The rooster does look skinnier, but he still has a goofy look. He doesn't have that powerful, in-control look. Maybe he would look a bit better if he were looking towards the front and if his tie and glasses were a bit edgier? The font looks better and more edgy. Also, can the rooster look towards the viewer, not away?
Rongen -- Thanks for entering!
Very interesting submission. We like how the rooster is holding the suitcase. The type should be a different font -- no script, please. Can you please remove the slogan? We'd like to keep the logo text only. Your rooster picture is quite cute, but the head looks a bit clueless -- not the "professional, in your face" look we were thinking of. Also, it would be great if he would look towards the viewer. Another idea: could you make a much bigger rooster, who is holding up a huge suitcase that says "Crooster" on it. The rooster can also look toward the viewer (to the front) and have glasses, sharp beak, etc.
Djaka -- Thanks for entering!
Interesting Web 2.0-ish submission. We're not too crazy about the green colors. Can we see something with reds, oranges and yellows? The rooster is cute, but looks more scared and apprehensive than assertive.
Skyvee -- Thanks for entering!
Very interesting attempt to make the rooster out of the "C" and "r". The rooster doesn't have that professional look though. Unless he has that look, it's probably better to avoid the rooster image in general. Thank you for a great first try, though.
As a reminder: we'd still love to see logos with and without roosters. For all of the roosters we've seen, the most important feedback we can give is that this rooster has to convey the sense that he is about to get to the top of the world. He is pursuing the best internships, meeting the most interesting and most successful people, and is about to make a huge salary. He is confident, and persistent but not cocky (no pun intended).
Thanks again!
Eugene

Rongen - We liked your attempt, we'd love to see any subsequent versions
Pracus - The rooster still doesn't match our vision. If you'd like to give it another try, please follow my comments from the earlier posting.
OffbeatDesign - We are loving version 2! We have a slight fear that the two briefcases may be misinterpreted as luggage. Can you try to change the suitcases a bit to modify that image? We aren't crazy about v3.
BlueCherryGraphics - We are split on v4, but I don't think we'll be going with that.
Titania - I will discuss this with my partner and get back to you with a response.

Eugene, I've followed your comments:
Maybe he would look a bit better if he were looking towards the front and if his tie and glasses were a bit edgier? The font looks better and more edgy. Also, can the rooster look towards the viewer, not away?
And you already have your favourite one so I don't think that changing my c-rooster would beat it :)
Cheers!

I will have something tonight for you.
We're planning on extending the deadline.
OffbeatDesign -- we like the new update -- can you think of any other ideas? In the meanwhile, we'll be considering this submission.
Virgil -- I think this is too cartoony for us. But thanks for the attempt.
freetime -- We like the rooster, but not so much the text. Can we see any variations?
Rongen -- It seems like there is too much rooster and not enough logo. That's not the look we're going for. Thanks, though!
gig -- I don't think this one matches for us. Thanks for the submission.

Here are some font variations.
Senter -- This doesn't seem to match our vision. Try some logos without a rooster?
Skyvee -- This reminds me a bit too much of the Apache logo. I don't think it conveys or image.
Medigraph -- This seems a bit too cartoony. Try something without a rooster?
Skyvee -- You're thinking along the right track. It's a unique and business-looking logo. We're considering this one. Can we see any variations along the same line of thought?
Freetime -- I don't know, it doesn't seem to be doing it for us. Can you try some logos without a rooster?

We have answered the age old question!
http://www.senterbrands.com/designout/Crooster2.gif
Thanks for the new posts!
Jennifer -- I like the new direction, but the image in the logos (v5 and 6) seem to look a bit jaggedy to us. The guy is wearing slightly different clothing than is traditional in finance -- check out http://www.ctshirts.co.uk/department.aspx?DepGrpCode=MEN&DepCode=M3BT&level1=Men&level2=menssuits&level3=English%20Wool%20Three%20Button%20Suits for examples.
Titania -- Thanks for the submission. The logo doesn't seem to much for us though.
Medigraph -- 3, 4 -- That's an interesting take on it. We interpreted it as the guy on the left having read the Crooster guidebooks, and so he's now wearing some "rooster feathers." We're afraid other poeple won't quite get the image from those logos, though.
Skyvee -- We'd still love to see some variations of v3, if possible.
pracus -- If you're still in the contest, we liked your original rooster, but something about it isn't right for us. If you can think of any variations based on earlier comments, we'd love to see it.
Thanks very much for all of your hard work, everyone!

Hi!
Actually, it symbolizes the "steps to success," but it could also be seen as growth ...or maybe even a graph representing the business/financial side. :)

It was very difficult to make a decision because of the strength of all of the submissions. After much thought, we decided to pick Message #37 (skyvee -- Version #3). Congratulations skyvee. In the end, we felt that the submission conveyed a sense of professionalism we were looking for. We also loved the cleverness of the suitcase/letter R combination.
Skyvee, we'd like to work with you on some minor changes related to color.
Thanks again everyone,
