Hi all

Thanks for submitting your suggestions for a logo for our recently established company!

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Our name "Rainmaking"

What type of product or service do you offer?
The company works as a kind of holding company as its mission is to own and develop start up companies. These start up companies are not related to any specific line of business - but a common demoninator is that they are all based on blue ocean strategies.

How long have you been in business?
New company – just starting (but we carry 4 start up companies into Rainmaking from the beginning)

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

What are your long term goals?
To create 3-4 new companies every year

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
January 12th

Audience Profile:
Future employees and providors of funding for the start ups (banks, business angels etc.)

Who would you like to add to your audience?
None at the moment.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
The logo should be business-like but not dull.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
No.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
The logo should reflect the blue ocean approach we have to out businesses.

What is your tagline or slogan?
We have thought of "creating companies" - but if anyone is able to come up with a better suggestion you are more than welcome (also to incorporate it in the logo).

Where will your new logo be used?
On a website and in print.

Thanks in advance from Denmark.

Best regards
Morten Kristensen

Dear all

It's my first time using DO and I'm left stunned about the quality of response so far

I will surely be adding many new logo requests shortly :)

But back to business...

Senter:
I look forward to seeing your work

Offbeat:
I prefer your versions 7 and 8. They are quite appealing. However they just do not feel exactly right. If you could work on something in that direction, however, it would be interesting.

Blue Cherry & Medigraph:
Your submissions are good, but not quite what I had in mind.
A general note is that I would like to see some submissions which dare to go beyond the blue/black colors. I know I asked for a rather discrete logo - but other colors would be nice. And maybe the focus could be turned away from the rain/drops towards the intended meaning of the word

I look forward to seeing your work.

The very best regards
Morten

If you could expand on this further, it would help.

I think of 'rainmaking' as the ability to raise large amounts of capital, etc. - which is applicable to the rain image (downpour of funds, etc.), but may not be your 'intended meaning'.

If you could explain more specifically what message you are trying to get across, as well as the "blue ocean" concept, it would be helpful.

Thanks for the feedback. Could you clarify what you like about the logos and what part doesn't feel right? That would help me refine. Is it color? Lettershape? Layout? Any direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hi guys,

Again I am very, very pleased with the fast progress of the work - and here are my comments:

Djaka:
I like the colors and general style in message #18 - but the Indian is not my style. But I would very much like to see more from your hand.

Blue Cherry (and others):
Your are right - I should explain more in detail what the intentions are. Here goes:

The "Rainmaking" word is to illustrate the fact that we believe to be able to create above average profits for our partners - that is that the companies in which we are involved will be highly profitable. So profitability rather than raising capital is the focal point. But then again the difference is not that big.

Blue Ocean is a strategic mindset where you focus on ideas and solutions which are so new and different than those of your competitors that you eliminate all competition by doing things completely different compared to industry standards.

Senter:
The suggestion from you in message #21 is pretty good. If you could prepare a few other versions in that direction, I would be very happy. Maybe less drops but the same expression.

Offbeat:
Thanks for your many versions. I still prefer no. 7 due to its simplicity. However, it is not that the logo needs to be simple - but no. 7 is pretty good. I hope my comments for Blue Cherry can help you as well.

Josh:
Your suggestions are my favorites at this moment. Both of them are very, very good! Could you maybe tweak them a bit with slightly more slim letters and is there a way to make the drops seem less blood-like?

In general:
The suggestions so far have made me understand that the tagline "creating companies" probably will have to be included in the logo.

I will be submitting a contest for a website for one the companies we own, which is establishing a new branch in a new country. You are all more than welcome to have a look at that as well :)

The very best regards
Morten

I was trying to capture the very professional corporate look, while making sure not to look like a aquarium or plumber logo.

The "dots" are abstract forms of rain. I will prepare something with a little less for you.

Hi all

I'm very sorry that I have been away for such a long time. I would have liked to spend much more time on this one - but it simply hasn't been possible lately.

Due to this, I have chosen to go with Senter. So, Senter, I would very much like for us to spend a little time fine tuning your latest design.

Could you give me just a few variations including the number of dots, the colours chosen and the shadow underneath the letters.

Thanks in advance :)

Best regards
Morten
