This one is about the right colors

Content:
http://www.timbuktees.com/
http://www.houstonscreenprint.com/

search ebay for gas map or gas attendant and look at the designs and fonts on the old promo items

3b) What colors or color schemes would you like? Colors and design should be very 1940's / 1950's. Think 40's & 50's gas stations. Remember the old station that had the big trianular awning in the front then a huge sign wall coming out of the top of the building? Or the big porcelain sign hanging from the ornate post with a pair of lights shining down or up on it to iluminate it? My logo is green. Would like to stay greens, greys ... Highlights of yellow , orange or red ok. Don't go too boxy.

4b) List the Navigation links for your Site:

Navigation must be kept simple since the design concept is not specific to our product. Icons and or text is good!

T-Shirts or Tees
Signs
Portfolio or something like Neato!
Specials
About Us or The rest of the story (Whaddaya Know?)
Contact or Ding! Ding!

Other:
The idea would be to have a site that although we are selling screen printing (primarily t-shirts) we play on our name GarageWear. When I had the logo drawn I told the artist to think 50's gas station porcelain signs. We started our business in the garage hence the name. We have an additional domain that will be another project later Route6Tee6.com. It will be for our pre-printed line of shirts that focus on automobilia designs. I really like the idea of a service station attendant or the likes on the design.

My domain is www.garagewear.net. You can see my logo there. Attached are some old maps that have the basic idea of what I would want. A "Gas" sign on the left with smaller signs as the navigation buttons and an "Attendant" in the lower right hand corner. I think I like the Pure sign post the best. Maybe a sign somewhere that says "Always Open" or "Open 24 Hours" In the middle would be the display area that changes with click of the navigation buttons. We are even trying to find an old gas station to move the shop into.Think old Texaco, Coca-Cola, Alka-Seltzer men ... or to really get the point that I am saying Gomer and Goober from the Mayberry Fillin Station. By the way we are in Alabama so no redneck jokes. We are normal folks here!

Thanks,
Bill

Is there any interest in this or have I just paid upfront for nothing?

Hey Bill,

This looks like a humdinger of a project, got a really cool
idea in mind.

Is this for a PSD only, or do you require it coded?

Cheers
Fabian

I can code it but I don't have photoshop just Corel photopaint 12. I don't know what versions of psd it will open. If you can send me a sample psd file I can test and see if it will open. I would like the final split into tiles if possible.

Hi, I am interested in submitting a design... have you decided what the final deliverables will be?

Doesn't Photoshop have a function to split it into tiles and output to HTML? If so I want that and the PSD. Otherwise I will take what I can get and go from there.

Start designing!

Hi Bill,
I have an idea, however, i'm lacking on imagery to match the style that you are looking for. I've been looking through istockphoto.com but i had no luck. Is it possible to provide us images that we can use?

Here is a link to Andy Nortnik.

http://www.andynortnik.com/

I was considering having him do the design but thought I would be getting more options here.

Look at the minnmaps.jpg file. The "map" in the center has an "attendant" I like. The shell file also has a good attendant in the lower right. The Minnisota map on the right has a good sign post.

Aliska - The colors could work and the background and shape around the content are possibilities however the post is wrong and the arrow signs don't work for me. I was thinking a more shapely sign and the navigation "signs" hanging off of one side of the sign. My logo just looks like it was stuck on as an after thought. It doesn't have to be a straight on view. If you notice on some of the maps there is depth to the signs.

Here is an idea of the sign I. I was trying to make it look like it was rotated a little and looking up at it. I'm not the artist so don't just cut and paste it. Add these ideas. Also this attendant is the right idea. It may need redrawn as it is raster and fuzzy. Let me know.

Fabian is on the right track with the sign and the 3D look. I don't like the gold color. The colors in Aliskas work are more in the area of what I am thinking. I know my logo has bright white but to be in keeping with more of the retro colors a dirty white is ok.

Navigation signs can be smaller and make them look to be hanging on the right side of the pole. I may want to make them look like they are swinging when you mouse over but we have to get placement first.

Make the navigation signs with these lables and maybe some icons or different bullets or stars on them that have the retro look . They don't even all have to be the same fonts. Kind of like when you see a shop that has added signs over time. The size may match but you can tell they were different sign painters or the paint wasnt identical. Not sloppy just not the same.

Thanks for the hard work! We are getting there.

Hi Bill,

Firstly thank you for the feedback. The garage attendant shown is a copyrighted design which I cannot use. If you would like to purchase images for us to use I will gladly put them to use in a revised design.

Thanks
Fabian

I understand the attendent is copyrighted. If it is redrawn to something similar then it should not be an issue as all I am asking for is a person that looks like an attendent.

Is anyone interested in doing this task? If so is it a separate task and what will it cost?

Please note that not all template designers are illustrators and even if they are, it goes beyond what is required of a designer in a template project. This maybe also a reason why your project has few entries.

If it is an absolute requirement that an attendant is part of the design then a separate project would need to take place in the miscellaneous forum

I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have.
