The company name is 'Ideas That Work, Inc.'

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Either the name or ITW

What type of product or service do you offer?
We are a startup company that specializes is product manufacturing, distribution and marketting. The products are mostly technology based. Items such as cell phone power adapters, USB adapters and travel kits, all the way to LCD TV's and custom mounts and wiring, the audio systems and car audio components and accessories.

We have a line of products that will be made available to the public at sources such as online, and retailers like Best Buy, etc.

Our goal as a company, as well as our method, is to find products that need improvement, or products that could be redesigned and better purposed. We also find companies that have new products, but are looking for distribution points as well. We also create new products that are not out there yet.

We actually have titles like CBI - Chief of Bright Ideas

Our goal as well is to give the public products that just work, not cheap ones that may work for some time, but ones that replace other products you may have because they are not as good or the best in quality. We are not going to sell or offer such a large amount of products to flood the market. We want to have and be the best solution for whatever it is we offer.

How long have you been in business?
We've been in R&D for about 1.5 years

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We need logo's for branding purposes, as most do.

What are your long term goals?
We have other divisions as well. We have yet to do our website, and will need services one day as well...likely sooner than later. We'll have brands like: Accessories That Work, Cellular That Works, Mobile That works, etc.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
We need this done as if it was yesterday. I expect to make a decision by EOB Monday, January 1st, as long as we get something we like, of course.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Our audience is the consumer, the manufacturer, and major corporate retailers, and the web audience. We expect to have stickers and silk screening of the logo's onto products and end-cap bubble packs as well.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
We need a logo that people will remember and identify with. A good branding logo that is noticeable and remembered.

The logo must be useable for web, letterhead in color an b/w, as well as small stickers and silk screening to be applied to products themselves. Some of the stickers are 1/2" x 1/4" oval...so pretty small in some cases.

We'd love to have our whole name as part of the logo, but for the smaller logo needs, the ITW and/or logo graphics themselves should stand out.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Not sure - really. We have no preconceived ideas about colors.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
YES - the lighbulb and gear(s) This keeps the IDEAS theme alive with the bright ideas thought and the gears are the WORKS part.

We are VERY open to other ideas as well ans welcome them openly.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Well..I hope I summed it up already - but we are a professional products development and solutions development focused company. Our products will attract the hip and current crowd, as well as the corporate entities as well. We want the logo to be fun, like our titles are.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Consumer Solutions Done Right!

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
This is a great product - what a great idea - I can't believe nobody came up with this sooner.

Where will your new logo be used?
On product (silkscreen and stickers), web site, stationary, computer print in color and b/w

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
Almost every cell phone accessory company can be a competitor, same with audio accessories, etc. We consider ourselves a consulting company as well...we have already gone to our competitors, in many ways, to offer bettering of their products as well.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We are truly consumer satisfaction based. We poll consumers to find out what they want, and we try to give it to them.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

The best products and solutions from manufacturer to consumer.

Jennifer - re: v1

Looks good for first round. The thought bubbles don't really get me thinking about 'thought bubbles' though, because the caption they link to are the gears...make sense?
hmmmm.....

All -

Don't forget to keep in mind that the logo needs to be used in small stickers/silkscreens as well.

Perhaps a graphic with company initials, then the words - the graphics of the logo needs to stand on their own as well.

Version 2 - one word - BRILLIANT!!

Need to fine tune a bit though...

Can you take the ITW and stack them centered vertically on the lightbulb screw threads?

Thanks!!

Again - right on the mark !!

The only thing we need to figure out now - is how to put the whole company name is as well. We need to use this letterhead. I love the logo just as it is...it stands alone VERY well an an brand icon. I'm not sure if the name will look best on the bottom, right side...maybe even stepped down on the right side???

Thanks again!!

One more thing - would it be TOO much if the ITW and the gear were a different color? I was thinking maybe a candy-like blue? Like a cobalt blue?

The silk screening would be harder, as the blue and yellow would likely bleed, but for EVERYTHING else...it might look cool..also, space the I up a pixel or two for a little more separation.

No for version 6 - it looks like 'Workinc' and I think it takes away form the gear...

Senter

All of the letters are evenly spaced. As far as adding another color the blue will not contrast well with the yellow. I would keep it as a 2 color. I designed it as such. If you add another color it will look off.

WAIT - perhaps space a littel more and make the I T and W 1-2 point sizes larger???

OK - two adjustments to version 8 and 9:

1 - ver 8: Step the Ideas That Work and loose the inc. Center the words top to bottom of course.

2 - ver 9: Space the 3 words so that Ideas is on the right, That is centered on top and Work is on the right.

BTW - everyone - I have chosen and awarded the project to Senter. All of your ideas were great...Thanks!!!

Bart - I see this as two logo's really - one for the products and one for letterhead, packaging, etc. So I will need to have versions of this with the Ideas That Work on the outside and versions without.

I think we're just fine tuning now.

Thanks!!!

Rick

EDIT - P.S. still need to see the stepped version though.. ;-)

Is this what you were wanting for the second idea on top. It does not read well at all so I just "Sentered" the text for you!

Thanks for selecting my design.

Thanks djaka - but it doesn't fit the mold of the requirement for small printing on an electronic device.
