I'm really excited to set this in motion, as I've watched these forums for months. The ideas are fantastic! My first step is a logo, but I will also be adding a Stationary Package in another month or two.
Thanks for bidding on this project!

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Yanceyville Primary Care, P.A. (less emphasis on the PA, professional association, which is required but not well understood by the public).

What type of product or service do you offer?
Primary healthcare… Family Practice

How long have you been in business?
Taking over an existing practice that has been around for about 9 years. I’ve been working there for 4 yrs. Now I’m purchasing the business.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
I need to create a new image as we are staying in the same location, needs to convey different ownership. Needs to be easily visible and recognizable as we are in a plaza with other businesses.
http://www.yanceyvilleprimarycare.com/plaza_current_1_1.jpg

What are your long term goals?
Maintain current patients, attract new patients to our quality care and nice setting.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
Flexible, will need to order new signs and place ads in early Feb for a late-March take-over.

Please describe your existing audience
Families -- moms/dads/kids—as well as elderly folks; located in a rural county. All English speaking but low-literacy. About 50/50 Caucasian and AfricanAmerican.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
Well-insured patients as we are the ONLy private practice in the county.

What type of logo would you like?
Simple. Professional. Relaxing. Clean.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

Something in the green/blue family and black because the outside of the plaza in which we are located has a “grass green” roof and trim. NOT teal as that would reflect the prior/current owner. I'd like to keep it to just 2 - 3 colors at most for clarity and future printing costs.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

No, I’m open minded. I'd like to keep it simple, either text-based or with a simple image with it, not intricate. First and foremost, this will be on a large sign in a plaza with the road about 100 feet from the road.

What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Professional. Relaxing. Clean.

What is your tagline or slogan?
none.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Clear recognition and linkage of logo to the practice. We need visibility within the plaza that we are located.

Where will your new logo be used?
Signs and phonebook/newpaper ads, primarily. Also on business cards, letter head, once the patient is at the practice/office. Small website too but most of our patients don’t have computer access.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
There aren’t any other practices in the area with web sites. The other primary practice in town doesn’t have a distinct recognizable logo at all. It is a public health clinic and there is a state health department.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We are the only private practice in the county.

State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Top-notch, personalized care.

3 hearts (family) forming a Y.

Thanks for getting started. You did well keeping it simple and text-based. Nice and crisp. I like the font of the first two.

The three hearts of the third design didn't appeal to me. The middle one looks good up close, but from a distance it would probably be lost. The first one was the most appealing in it's simplicity, but any other symbol/icon ideas other than a heart? (My hsuband though it reminded him of the YMCA symbol but he is mistaken.)

I'd like to see how "Primary Care" would look larger than "Yanceyville" but on first impression I did like the current proportions.
Maybe black and green for colors?

Keep the ideas coming...

Thanks for the feedback. The black and green would help the distance legibility. Here's what that looks like.

Here it is reversed, with Primary Care as the focus. Let us know if that's the way you want to go or you would like to see designs both ways. Thanks.

v3 (more professional) "Y" within first aid/medical care symbol

I like this one a lot, as do my family members. Nice work with the name. I didn't see the "Y" initially in the symbol... looked like hands. Could you show the symbol all in one color? And the letters in a green shades with some black for contrast? Concensus in my family here is that they like green/black for the colors more than blue.

v1 open arms to families/family care

Nice concept! Very appealing at first, but after talking about it more, we decided there really aren't traditional families like this in my patient population or in that county. Nice job though!

When designing the logo I was taking into account your horizontal signage. Is that something you want to stick with?

Yes, that is the key place for the logo is on the sign on the front of the building and on the plaza list right next to the road.

I am drawn to the text layout of this. It looks very professional. But the other designer did ask about the signage and that reminded me that I have a more horizontal space than vertical.

Can you throw out another concept(s) with this font but with the icon next to it somehow?

So far, this is my leading choice! Nice work!

v8 Yes, this would easily work with a vertical layout - in fact, it looks better that way. I think it would give you a very professional look and with this design, the icon could stand alone as well as a strong, recognizable image for your practice.

This looks really nice. I will take this one and the stethescope logo to my employees and see what they all think.

I'm pleased to announce that we are going with the stethescope design from OffbeatDesign.
It was a tough decision but my staff and I decided it had the crisp, clear visibility that we need on our signage.

Let's head to the revision forum to tweak the green color a little.

Thanks for the great ideas!

Thanks Kathy! Please let me know what you want to do with the green. If you have a Pantone book, or a specific color you can show me online I will match it as best I can.

Mods, please move to revisions forum.

I'm not familiar with Pantone colors... Is there somewhere online that you could recommend some greens for me to see? (I tried Googling Pantone but didn't find an online chart yet).

I looked over the list. The ones that appealed most to me are (in numerical not preferential order):

3278
340 or 341
348
356

No rush to post the variations-- I'm having a crazy week at work!

Ok, we're mostly leaning towards 341. Could we see the main design in that one in something that will print out better for us to look at?

thanks!
