Design Outpost Creative Brief Worksheet
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo? Grand Scheme Enrichment Center
What type of product or service do you offer? Life Coaching, Life Journaling, Creative Writing… a myriad of other classes, workshops and seminars which will help people appreciate life. Also will have poetry readings, movie nights and will display local artist’s work, I’m all about the community.
How long have you been in business? It’s a new business, but I’ve been teaching some of these classes for about 5 years out of my home.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? Professional yet fun, perhaps a little funky.
What are your long term goals? To be a successful entrepreneur
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? ASAP, January 11, 2007
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience. Senior Citizens and children
Who would you like to add to your audience? Various people of the community.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? The town is relatively small and has a lot of history. I’m envisioning something more old fashioned looking.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) Gold and Purple and I’m not sure why, would be open to others as well though
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business? Professional, trustworthy, honesty, yet fun, it’s a newer profession in this area.
What is your tagline or slogan? At present it’s Life Skills, Life Goals, Life Dreams, but again, am open to others
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience? Life is what we make it.
Where will your new logo be used? Street level signage (7’x3’), marketing materials, web site, etc.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? Competitors are continuing ed classes, after school programs that typically do not have logos
List competitive URLs if possible
What sets you apart from your competitors? This is something new to this area
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: Life

Hello~ I like the fun graphics but I feel the text might be a little too stringent. I'd be interested in seeing something more old fashioned looking. The building I'm in was built in 1912, its a home that was rezoned into commercial. I know I said I was thinking gold and purple but I'd also like to see some other ideas, perhaps in teals and browns, although I'm very open to ideas other than my own!
Thank you for the wonderful designs and your time in working on them!

v1 I used a tree and fresh green to symbolize life. Also included the roots to symbolize your "nourishment" helps them bloom :)

v2 A sprout to symbolize growth and the sun to symbolize care/nurturing, but also "all encompassing" (='grand scheme')

Medigrah, Ooh, I like it it browns and teals too! It's so tough to decide! Great work!

Offbeat, I'm not loving V1. Not sure why though...
I like the layout of V2, the 'Grand Scheme' font doesnt fit me though. If the purple background was teal how would it look? I like the leaves and how that part looks.

Jennifer, I like the tree idea in V1 although the roots look a little off to me as does the 'Grand Scheme' font. In V2 I like the sun but not that particular sprout so much. Can a tree and the sun idea be combined?

Medigraph, like V5 better than the font in V6.
Jennifer, I like V4 although there's a business in thown already using something similar. Like the font in V3, the tree still isnt grabbing me and the sun in this one is peachy as opposed to yellowish (perhaps thats just the colors on my screen though) : )
Offbeat, Like V4 a lot better in teal. not loving V5 graphics but like the text.
This is really great you guys (guys is a Michigan figure of speech, sorry) I'm really enjoying this process!

Wow, this sure was a fun process for me, unfortunately I have to choose one designer out of the multitude of wonderful designs I was given. Thank you so much for everyone's hard work and creative process involved. Out of all of the designs there is one designer that I feel is closest to my style and what I need to accomplish with my new business in my community, Jennifer Johnson of Blue Cherry Graphics. Again, thank you so much for this fabulous opportunity to see your creative processes at work!

Hello Jennifer,
I'd like to combine a couple of your ideas together if that's okay. Is there anyway to communicate outside of this forum? I have a change that may require I pay you more, you'd have to let me know.

Yes, once the project is awarded, we can communicate privately. You can send me a private message or email me using the link below:

Using the tree in V1 without the roots but perhaps with the ground lines on each side of the tree, the 'sun' in V2, and the font of either V5 (or perhaps something other than whats been shown). I'd like the design to have the graphic above the text with the truck coming out of the words with Grand Scheme on one line and Enrichment Center beneath it in a more basic font. This format would work best for my street signage I think (it's 7 feet wide 3 feet high.) In my mock up of your design that I was playing with I tried giving the yellow sun an orange outline for contrast as if the sun was setting or rising. I also tried the same sun with a sprout (It was a more upright sprout with visible leaf lines) I'l like to send you my mock ups of your design if thats possible.

V7
See what you think about these 2. The box around the images represents a 7:3 ratio. I think the text to the side would be best; it maximizes the name readability and makes the most use of the space you have. If you still want the icon above the name, however, we can do that too; just wanted you to look at this first.

Hi there Jennifer! Lovely work, as usual. I like the graphic in V7 #2. I like the darker leaves in the sprout and the yellow of the sunwith the orangish border. The text of V8. The graphic beside instead of above is great. This I can envision on my 7x3 sign. You rock.

Love the setting sun in V11. Can you try that in V12 with the setting sun. I'm not sure how it will look with the tree outside the line fo the sun though. What do you think?
BlueCherryGraphics
01-17-2007, 05:59 AM
With that tree, I don't think it looks right to have part of the leaves outside the boundaries of the sun...see what you think.
BlueCherryGraphics
01-17-2007, 06:00 AM
v14 maybe something like this?
JaneE62
01-17-2007, 07:20 AM
I'm with ya, I dont care for the small sun off to the side. I like the symbolism you came up with having the sun. How would it look if the sun in V12 was moved up some so it didnt contact the ground line?
JaneE62
01-17-2007, 07:22 AM
I rather like this tree, but are there any other tree options you can come up with?
