Hello all,

Turning to Design Outpost for a simple project we need done really, really fast.

It's the art for a CD we'll distribute to 200 of our closest friends at the upcoming UIE Web App Summit (http://webappsummit.com) in Monterey, CA in 2 weeks.

The disk is a standard CD (60mm radius with a 40mm printable area). The process is CMYK and we can do bleeds.

(Sorry for the short turn around, but we're having a small designer crisis, with our house designers suddenly being unavailable.)

You should base the art on this logo (originally created by DO Artist, Eziey):

http://uie.com/stuff/DO/CD_Art/WAS_logo.jpg

(The logo art, in EPS and JPG, is here (http://uie.com/stuff/DO/CD_Art/WAS_Logo.zip).)

We'd like it if it came close to matching the covers for our printed materials, a sample of which you can find here (http://uie.com/stuff/DO/CD_Art/WAS_Day2_Foundations_cover.pdf).

A CD we produced for a previous event is here (http://uie.com/stuff/DO/CD_Art/UI11-CD.pdf). (The art for this came from the very talented DO moderator Alex Kogan.)

The text on the CD needs to read:

UIE Web App Summit Proceedings CD

* Full-Day Seminars
* Web Application Foundations
* The Latest Perspectives in Web Applications

The winner will have an opportunity to help with a few other last minute projects, at a time and material rate.

The deadline is a HARD-AND-FAST winner at noon on Friday, January 12, Eastern Time. (-05.00 GMT) We'll need the final art to send to the manufacturer right after that.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi everyone,

Nice work.

The final files are an eps and a pdf to send off to the manufacturer. (The PDF is for proof purposes.)

Djaka, if we gave an award for being fastest, you'd definitely win it! :) Of the two, I like your second design the best. I like how you incorporated our logo and the way the small print bends around the CD edge. Very clever. One quick mod: could you try eliminating the asterisks? Either leave them out entirely or put in "real" bullets.

(In case you need it, I've put the original art for our logo here as an AI file (http://uie.com/stuff/DO/CD_Art/UIE_Logo.ai). It has the wrong size and colors, but the right everything else. If you need other file types, just let me know.)

Logoholik, we're leaning towards your first version. I don't have any suggestions because it's pretty much what we're looking for.

I want to show this around to folks, but will entertain other design ideas. I'm thinking, because you guys were so fast, we'll probably end up closing this out early. (Isn't that nice, for a change? Usually, we end up with extensions.)

I'll be keeping an eye on the forum to see what else comes in.

After careful consideration, we've decided go to with Logoholik's design (Msg #10).

Thanks for a fast contest. (Fastest I've ever had!)

LH, I'll send you a private message about the art and followup stuff.

Thanks everyone!

Files received.

Everything is perfect.

Release the funds!

(Sorta like "Release the dogs!", but nicer.)
