I need a flash movie that will be used as part of our home page.
There is an attached design document "BBFlashDescription.pdf" that details the functionality of the movie (fairly simple stuff).
All of the images are provided along with a photoshop file "BlueBeanHomeFlash.psd" that has all of the various image layers that will be required. (www.bluebeanrfid.com/common/BlueBeanHomeFlash.psd (http://www.bluebeanrfid.com/common/BlueBeanHomeFlash.psd) - too large to attach)
The design is done so I just need someone to wire the images together.
Thereis one additional requirement that is not included in the design document
- Create the JavaScript code for the BB home page for Flash detection which if not detected would show an alternate image with linked buttons for each of the different vertical markets (other websites).

I am working on something for you. Quick question, which fonts did you use for the headline on the opening state and the vertical market headlines?
Also for the listing of vertical markets in the pdf example you have RFID Logistics but in the files you included there is no such button, instead there is a RFID Healthcare, would you like the one replaced with the other?

The font for "The RFID Solutions Company" is Helvetica-Narrow
--------------------
Vertical Markets Logos
"A BlueBean Company" - 10.5pt Helvetica Neue Roman (Helvetica 55 Roman)
"RFIDHealthcare.com" - 30pt Foundry Form Serif Medium
"RFID SOLUTIONS FOR HEALTH CARE" - 11.75pt Helvetica Neue Bold (Helvetica 75 Bold)
---------------------
I have a link for the "ai" file for the vertical logos and I have attached a screen image with the proper vertical markets in the proper sequence

hi, i just wanted to check:
what kind of functionality you were looking for in the alternate content (to be shown if flash is not detected)? a single image with links, or a javascript powered navigation which would be nearly identical to the flash one?
thanks,
-carlos

Is there a place where I get download those fonts?
Or can you convert them to outlines in the .ai file?
Thank you!

fonts.com & http://www.foundrytypes.co.uk/
Specifically what ".ai" file are you referring to? I would be happy to convert to outlines.

The vertical logo's ai file, so I can use the text in the white box that fades in.
Thank-you.

You are on the right track. Please make sure you reread the design pdf becasue that is exactly what we want. When do you think you will be ready with the next revision?
carlos(esparza)
01-25-2007, 11:07 AM
yes, i'm working from the pdf guide, figuring out the "auto animation" part (for when the user is does not have their mouse over the navigation). i expect to have it uploaded by tomorrow morning.

I have attached a Word Document that shows the layout of the text for the first screen of the flash. Also there should not be any background for the text on this first screen.

hi, here is an update:
http://carlos.errorproductions.com/outpost/bluebeansTimelineii.swf
i've addressed the weird logic in the animation, as i saw it, and other issues you'd mentioned.
the exceptions being "going back to the animation after inactivity" and "the line connecting the active text and the current navigation item."
the former works when you're not hovering over the navigation, and the latter i'm simply trying to figure out an elegant way of achieving (in terms of the code).

I like what I see - the buisness is yours! We still need to get the final touches in place.
1. The Bean on the initial screen needs to fade in after the user has had a chance to read the text (7-8seconds).
2. The logos on the right need to be faded until selected
3. Correct the previous issues you mentioned
4. All of the Image Text needs to start with the name of the vertical – example for food:
RFIDFood.com
RFIDFood.com is dedicated to assisting companies design and implement Radio Frequency Identification technology solutions for food-related industries. Whether it is monitoring the temperature of perishable products or the tracking of inventory, BlueBean has the knowledge and capability to provide our clients a competitive advantage.
Is it possible to have this done by this Friday????
carlos(esparza)
01-30-2007, 08:16 AM
Thank you!
with the bean fading in, what would be your preference for a preloader? (with all the images, i am concerned with having one, as even reducing quality to acceptable limits yields an 150kb file).
as per the "faded navigation," they all start at 75% opacity presently, and then go to 100 when hovered over or activated in the animation, would you like me to go lower than 75?
i expect i can have the next update by tomorrow night, and while i'll shoot as best i can for friday, my day job might inhibit that a bit. saturday for sure.

Saturday would work.
Try 50% for the vertical images when they do not have the focus. It is difficult to tell at 75%.
Is there a way to make the preview I am looking at to be 100% in size and not scale to the size of the browser's window? If it is easier you an upload it to designoutpost. I have fixed the viewing problem on my end.
Not sure what you mean by - with the bean fading in, what would be your preference for a preloader? (with all the images, i am concerned with having one, as even reducing quality to acceptable limits yields an 150kb file)... Do you need a smaller resized BlueBean?
carlos(esparza)
01-30-2007, 11:57 AM
i haven't made any changes yet, but here is the previous one "to scale:"
http://carlos.errorproductions.com/outpost/bluebeansTimelineii.swf
right now i have the blue bean functioning as a preloader. (if you empty the cache in your browser you will see it load again, and see what i mean (you can empty the cache most likely by looking the "tools" section of your web browser's menu)).
if you want the bean to fade in after the text, then this can't happen, so i'll just make a generic preloading image.

Please increase the size of the font in the Vertical Text Box to one of two points larger for better readability.
I have attached a new image for the RFIDPharma.com site. Please use this image.

hello again, as promised, an update on wednesday:
there are some obvious logic problems with the lines when rolling over the navigation, but if you watch the animation through, you'll see how i'm imagining them. let me know what you think.
the "inactivity" function is working now as well, so if your mouse stops moving for a 3 seconds while it's over any of the buttons, the animation will continue.

From a timing standpoint I would like the "highlight" box on the right to appear (relocate) first then the line will be drawn from the "highlight" box to the Vertical Image Text box which would start to appear during the drawing of the line. This all would happen in nearly the same timeframe you have now just in a slightly different order.
Order;
"Highlight Box"
Line
"Vertical Image Text Box"
Make sense?
carlos(esparza)
02-03-2007, 05:51 PM
i'm pretty sure that timing makes sense to me: like this:
<object codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="852" height="317"><br />

I will send you hopefully a final punch list tomorrow. I do have one question. Why do I need to click on the flash before it will handle the rollovers?
IndyKid

2. The top line on the highlight box looks offset too high. It looks like it is a couple if pixels too high
3. Add another 3 sec delay to the initial screen. Show the bean at the end of the delay and hold for another 2 sec.
4. Increase the font size of the vertical image text by 1 pt.
5. The color for the RFIDPharma looks different between the vertical image tect box and the vertical logo on the right.

Hi, i'm not sure why you have to click anywhere for the rollovers to work, that's not the case in the firefox browser.
i hit all the topics you listed in your last email, how does it look now?

I am running IE7 for my web browser so I am not sure why I need to click the flash in order to get the roll overs to work.
Add 2 more seconds to the initial text screen and delay the appearance of the bean until about two seconds before the initial screen ends.
This looks great. Let's get these two items fixed and we should be there.
I am sending a html page view of this flash to my marketing person to review. Could you tell me the name of the flash filed so I can update the html page I send to her.
carlos(esparza)
02-07-2007, 09:45 PM
hmmm, i've still not used IE7 at all . . . perhaps i should make a point of it soon.
in anycase, i fixed those two timing issues, and the file link is:

This is the list from the Marketing Dept.
1. On the verbiage that first appears, increase the font size.
2. Extend the time that this first verbiage stays on the screen but BEFORE the bean appears another 2 seconds
3. The blue bean that appears needs to be moved down so that it is not so close to the text.
4. Right before the flash changes to RFIDSupplyChain.com, have the bean move and shrink so that it lands on the bean in front of the RFIDSupplyChain.com logo.
5. Reverse the directions of the line between the logos and the verbiage (should go from the logo to the verbiage).
(Sorry I know it used to be the other direction)
6. RFIDSupplyChain.com's verbiage starts with 'RFIDSupply.com' when it should be 'RFIDSupplyChain.com'.
7. Use the attached Vertical Button Logo for RFID Mining
8. RFIDFood.com's verbiage does not reverse fade in like the others.
9. See this link for the problem with IE7 - http://www.metah.ch/blog/?p=141

I need to hear from you today if you are still interested in getting paid for this project. You have done a lot of work on this project but I am past my deadline and I have not heard anything from you for days.
I will need to go elseware by the end of buisness today if I do not hear from you.
I have six more of these flash intros to do in the next 2-3 months.

I think we are far enough along to release the funds. We still need to resolve the white space issue. I will be working with the website developer tomorrow afternoon to wrap us the BlueBean website.
Please release the funds to Carlos.
