$125.00 I need a logo and symbol/artwork for my Business: Name: CREATURE COMFORTS
Pet Sitting Service
Slogan: Loving Pet Care in Your Home
Phone: {removed - can be added after the contest}

I will be using it for my business cards, letterhead and a magnetic car sign. It must be attention grabbing, graphic, legible at a distance and memorable. It also must be readable in black and white (newspaper). I would like to have it completed by the end of September 2003.

Hi!
Good luck with your contest. Don't know if this is a new business venture for you or not, but if it is, before you jump the gun, make sure you check with whatever state you're in to see if the name * Creature Comforts* is available. It is a widely used name. I myself have a pet care service named Creature Comforts and I have reg. it with my state so no one else in Wyoming can open a pet care service by that name. I also know of a couple other * Creature Comforts* that have done the same thing in their states. It's a great name for a pet care service and I'm not trying to discourage you, just better to be safe than sorry. For instance, a freiend of mine opened a pet care service in California, maned it and did not do her homework. A larger service with the same name who had trade marked it, came after her with everything they had. Cost her dearly as she had already had contracts, advertising, yellow page ad etc.
For what it's worth.

enela,

Are there any particular styles you like? We've had a wide variety of pet sitter contests here and many great designs--if you haven't taken a look at other contests, you might want to just to give us a head start :)

If you'd really like an animal character, I design mascots for a living :)
anything at www.mascotartist.com catch your attention?

what types of animals do you care for? The usual dog, cat, bird variety or, as another contest holder did, a little more such as horses?

Also, what type of logos do you prefer: cutsie/cartoony or professional?

Sorry everybody. Rookie posting mistake. Here's the images....

1) The illustration shows this pet in its natural setting, on the bed. At least that's where our cat was most comfortable. It's meant to show that you keep the pets in their homes, that the pets are comfortable, and the loose style shows you like to have fun too. The type face used here gives a whimsical flair to the already fun illustration. The monotone, blue/grey color pallet is meant to communicate a sense of comfort, not only in the pet's stay, but also in the owner's willingness to choose you.
2) Using the same illustration, but this time creating a juxtaposition between the fun graphic and the more clean font. The colors here are fun, bold and exciting. The typeface is intended to create a sense of professionalism, but by using all lower case gives it a human and approachable quality.

Let me know what you think.

My Pet Sit Business "Creature Comforts" logo contest is still on. Because my modem was lightning struck and was down I will most likely extend the deadline. I like sophisticated, flowing designs. I pet sit all in home pets so I like to incompase maybe cat/dog or cat/dog bird etc... Also the font and art should be compact so as not to take up much advertising line space, yet it must be readable.

What do you think of the entries you've currently recieved? Specific critiques really help you get what you want.

I like the sleeker images the best. Although I think the cat on the bed design is nice too. I would like to see cat and dogs, reptiles, birds incorporated as I do not specialize.

Are there any posts so far that you like better than others? Is anyone close? Do we all need to start over?

Thanks.

I like the flow of Coredesigns work and I like DesignTeams design # 2. I would like to see a cat/dog design. The work also has to be compact, bold and re-produceable in a business card, letterhead and newspaper ad.

Hello Enela,
Here's another go.
It's a dog-cat-bird, combined with the nestled initials "CC"
(and a heart to express the "love").
It's compact, sleek, and bold (in reference to the red/black combination).
The colours are easily changed if you'd prefer something different.

Please advise,
-Kimber.

Thanks Ryan.
My "better half" wants one, but I think they're a little large.
I prefer a big dog in a small package: The English Bull Terrier!

(Dobermans listen better though...)

I like the combination of the dog/bird/cat and CC in the heart design. My concern is for the dog portion of the design. If the image is reduced and reproduced we may loose the white outline distinction. Also any ideas on usage in business card with slogan: Loving pet care in you home; my name & phone. I would also like to see it in blue/purple or blue or purple & black.

Ryan I like the bird on creature comforts. Can any other animals be incorporated cavorting around the logo?

Hello again, Enela

I changed the dog portion of the logo to be white the match the rest (no outline to contend with now).
I've also changed the colours to the purple, blue and black you had asked for (although not necessarily in that order).

Here's some quick ideas to show how
the logo may appear on your business cards.

Hi.

I've done two quick mockups of a concept in Greyscale... if you think they might be along the lines of what you'd like, I'd be happy to play around with color combinations. Thanks for your consideration. - liz

Cre8or,

I'm really liking what I'm seeing. I especially think you have something in business card design 002. I think I want to see it the colors used in 005 (blue/black) and blue/dk grey as well. Great work!

Hi,

Since pet owners are more humanistic and warm people, I think you need something cute and warm.
Here is my shot;

<img src='http://mehmetsaygin.com/linkver/cc1.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />

Colors are attractive and eye-catching in a web-site.I can remove shadows for print.
I prefer the one at the bottom/right, blue and green one.

Good luck with your business and new logo.

Best,

Kalvinhobs,

I like your design too. I really have got to make some decisions. I like your color choice as well.

Hello Enela,
Just some info on my design:

It has been designed toprint in 2-colours, which is les expensive than printing ull colour. This design can also easily be reduced to a single colour to make printing costs even less expensive.

This particular sample has been created in PMS 300 (Pantone Matching System -- it's a standard for printers to match spot colours) and Black. The "grey" can either be a percentage of Black or another PMS spot colour*. It can be made into whichever 2-colours you like. Or, as I had mentioned before reduce to a single colour -- and screen tints of that colour.

* Regarding the percentage of black or spot colour. You may choose to opt for BLACK in this "grey" design, simply decause if you decide to print flyers with black text it's still just 2-colours. BLACK and PMS 300. If you were to opt for a spot colour grey, in the same situation on a flyer with black text, it would then become 3-colour PMS 300, PMS GREY, and BLACK.

Just some info to help.
:)

Enela is having trouble posting her message on the forum. Here is her announcement of the winner...

I have a WINNER.&nbsp; Cre8or is the winner of my contest.&nbsp; It's official today 9/24/03.&nbsp; I need new cards printed up so I have to get a move on.&nbsp; I had my daughter (a BFA graduate) which design she likes best.&nbsp; She agreed that cre8or's 4 square was her favorite as well.&nbsp; She did mention that she thought the CC on the bottom right was a little masculine.&nbsp; Cea8or, could it be feminized just a bit without loosing the quality.&nbsp; I also have to get with you on the final information we both need to bring this to print.

To everyone else:&nbsp; Thank you for your fine work.&nbsp; I've enjoyed the give and take.

To Palmer:&nbsp; Have I concluded the contest correctly?&nbsp; I've also recommended your site to my printer and a few people I know with businesses.&nbsp; Thank you.
