Sites I Like:
digg (http://www.digg.com) (Simple, clean, easy to navigate and content is presented "right there".)
BP (http://www.bp.com) (Clean, color use consistant with logo.)
Zoho (http://www.zoho.com) (Simple, clean, easy to navigate.)
Design Outpost (http://www.designoutpost.com) (Easy on the eyes, visually appealing.)
MSDN (http://msdn.microsoft.com) (Navigation is segregated from content, right-column boxes of information.)
Sites I Dislike:
Yahoo (http://www.yahoo.com) (Too busy.)
Yet2 (http://www.yet2.com/app/about/home ) (Too busy, odd color scheme.)
3b. Complimentary to the logo, discretion is left to the designer.

5b. The intended look should be clean and high-tech. But we are not limited to those types.

Suggestions: Any sort of image that invokes field testing (guy with clipboard perhaps), field work, safety. An image of a respectable gas station may be nice, especially in the internal page, but I'm not sure how well that will work.
Design and Deliverables
1c. February 17.
2c. A main page and an interior page. The interior page will also be used for navigation with the online reporting system. The reports will be existing, dynamic content (that is already styled for printing, other than logo, there are no images or color).
It is requested that if images (and rollovers) are used for navigation, that stock/default PSD be included (of standard and rolloever if used) for future use/maintenance.
For navigation, there is currently a two-tier system in place. I would prefer if only top-tier items appear on top-tier pages, and a given tier's sub-items appear on the tier page. If that doesn't make sense, visit the current webpage and select "Testing Information". There are a number of tests offered, but they are only visible when the Testing Information page is visited.
For any stock imagery used, it would be appreciated if a full-size version could be included in the event the layout needs to widened/extended. This is not required, but appreciated.
Other
The currently layout is devoid of any sort of "wow" factor. I ask that the designers feel free to experiment with any ideas they have. Let's try to bring this design into the 21st century!
Navigation elements can be either vertical or horizontal, but a text-based version must be included in the footer.
