Do you have an images that we would be able to use in our designs? Don't worry if not, but it would be a help. Thanks :)

We don't really have an image library to pull from, especially for "editorial" or creative shots for the design of the site. You can pull any product images from the site itself (www.sailtechmarine.com).

The products can be used on powerboats and sailboats - we chose the logo we did because we wanted to underscore the power and the technology and the colors because we want to evoke the ocean theme.

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

First – to everyone – we really like the designs so far and are really excited to offer some in depth feedback!

One thing to note, the client wanted me to remind everyone that it is www.sailtechmarine.com and the Company name is Sailtech without capitalizing the T.

Elena – We like message #12 design over your first one. Some feedback.

1. We’d like to see more color – the sea green and maybe a “pop” color.

2. Can we have a more stylized left nav differentiator, maybe something like the wave of the logo?

3. The Navigation

a. It needs to be slimmer – although we like the imagery incorporated it takes up too much space above the fold. We’d also like to evoke more of the products of the site – so do you think you could merge an image like this with some sort of chart/GPS imagery? Or maybe not use the boat and just use a graphic you might see on a marine GPS with the gridlines or the depth meter images? I saw some good stuff by doing a search for marine electronics in Google and then hitting images – likewise using marine charts and getting image results.

b. You can remove the RMA and Account Registration from the top right navigation and we’d like order status moved up on the line with Login etc.

c. Where you previously placed the registration, RMA and Order status links, we’d like to see the main navigation of Home, About Us, Contact Us and Resources

d. In the deep blue bar where you have the search box, we would like a space for a Shop By Manufacturer drop down and a Shop By Category drop down.

e. Where you have the account login module, we’d like to see a grouping of 4 of the manufacturer logos, as a featured brand section and the login “module” can be removed altogether. I’d also like to see several of the manufacturer logos at the base of the page or integrated in some other manner that works with the design aesthetic. Basically, I’m open to your ideas. 

f. We only need one paragraph of content in the Welcome section and we’d like place holder text in all of the product listings on the homepage.

Clink – of your two posts, the client likes design 14 more, but my partner and I are concerned with the brashness of the yellow as a contrast and I’m not sure about the angle disparity between the logo and the left navigation.

The navigation itself will also need some changes –

1. We’d like all the navigation options to the right of the logo rather than over it.

2. We’d like Login, View Cart, Checkout and My Account as smaller text navigation in the top right.

3. We like you to insert Shop by Manufacturer and Shop by Category drop down options and maintain links to Contact Us, and Help Desk and add Contact Us in your main navigation bar.

4. I’d also like the see the large image shrunken slightly to pull those product images up a bit and could you potentially incorporate some gridlines or GPS like imagery? We’d also like to evoke more of the products of the site – so do you think you could merge an image like this with some sort of chart/GPS imagery? Or maybe not use the boat and just use a graphic you might see on a marine GPS with the gridlines or the depth meter images? I saw some good stuff by doing a search for marine electronics in Google and then hitting images – likewise using marine charts and getting image results.

5. The client really likes your incorporation of the wave and the yellow to sort of symbolize the current of electricity – my only issue is that the color firmly draws the eye to one place on the page, it clashes to me a bit and the rest of the design gets a bit lost. I don’t know if we need to shift the color a bit or just bring it into the design more (since the Buy Now and Add to Wishlist buttons are the darker yellow). You can also remove the Services section of the Left Nav and, since we’ll be incorporating the Shop by Categories and Shop my Manufacturers to the top nav, we can get rid of the A-Z section as well.

We would like to incorporate some of the manufacturer logos into the design – I’m open to your ideas on that!

I would also like to see links incorporated at the base of the page for About Us, Contact Us, Login, Viewcart etc. – basically mimicking the upper right text navigation.

Sev – we love the colors and the general layout of your idea.

1. We’d like all the navigation options to the right of the logo rather than over it.

2. We’d like Login, View Cart, Checkout and My Account as smaller text navigation in the top right – maybe in that poppy orange you have within the shopping cart?

3. We like you to insert Shop by Manufacturer and Shop by Category drop down options and maintain links to Contact Us, and Help Desk and add Contact Us in your main navigation bar.

4. I’d love the image where you have “stock photo” right now to incorporate both marine images and chart or grid like GPS imagery. We’d like to evoke more of the products of the site – so do you think you could merge an image like this with some sort of chart/GPS imagery? Or maybe not use the boat and just use a graphic you might see on a marine GPS with the gridlines or the depth meter images? I saw some good stuff by doing a search for marine electronics in Google and then hitting images – likewise using marine charts and getting image results.

5. We need the manufacturer logos incorporated somehow – not all of them, but some of them. Maybe like what you did for S&R? I’m open to ideas on this one.

6. On the Left Nav, we won’t need A to Z or Services sections.

I hope this helps - please feel free to ask any questions! :D

Thanks,
Blair

Hello
Idea from me.

e2solutions
03-02-2007, 08:12 AM
Sev, we like the two column concept more than the three column - in this case we don't need the feedback or the newsletter.

We need to add the phone number into the mix and we'd like to do that in the banner/graphic part. We'd like image to be a big higher opacity (lighter in color) and we'd like the phone number in there.

Can we see a version with a yellow color on buttons? It needs to look nice - we don't want it to clash, but the client likes the link between electricity and yellow. We're not ruling out the orange we'd like to see the option though.

In the shopping cart - no orange/yellow font.

Can you add a "spark" or small "star" at end of logo - not in orange or yellow but the client is interested in that slight change.

We need to add the company address underneath bottom footer - it is going to show up on every page.

We really like the look of the brand logos in the footer rather than in the left column or in the third column in the upper right. We would be interested in seeing how some of them might look in a "featured manufacturer" or "featured brand" section that could replace the paragraph of content immediately under the banner.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Aliska,

We like this - the graphic of the boat and the grid is just what I was envisioning.

We would like a couple of changes to the graphic/banner - can you move the sailboat over closer to the phone number, bring more of the grid over to emphazize it a bit more and then compress the whole thing a bit? We'd just like it to take a bit less space above the fold.

On the products, can we do list view rather than grid and we need text placeholders for sales description.

We'd like the "Buy" button colored like the current "Manufacturers" heading on the left nav, we'd like "Add to Wish List" in the blue tones that you currently use for the "Buy button and we'd like blue tones for the manufacturer heading on the left nav rather than the orange.

Can you mimic the logo "swish" instead of using arrows in the left nav?

We need the address at bottom beneath the footer.

It turns out we only need the shop by manufacturer drop down and it
needs to be in the main nav because it has to be available on other pages (you can remove help desk if you need to) It also doesn't need a "go" button.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
Blair

Hello Blair
As for category view and a product item view you mean category subpage and product subpage?

e2solutions
03-07-2007, 07:32 AM
Hi Aliska,

Yes - basically, how the page will look when you click on an item in the left column (category) and how the page would look if you click on an individual product.

Thank you!

Hi Aliska,

On the "category" page and item page we'll need left nav justification and can we see a grid view with space for a short sales description.

On the item page, we need "add to wishlist", "buy now", "save for later" added as options. We'd also like to see additional visual definition of related products - color? layout?

We need breadcrumbs for all pages and we'd like the image to be to the left rather than on the right. Can you bring the price out more? We'd also like to see a list price, your price strikethrough indication or other idea.

We'd like to see customer reviews at the item level as well.

Thanks!
