Respected Professional Designers,
Admittedly, for a couple of months I have been absolutely admiring the incredible creativity of the designers this forum boasts. I found myself shaking my head or just saying out loud "awesome" at the many examples of your fine work. Now the time has come for me to step from the lurker ranks to become your client and proclaim: "My company needs an "identity makeover!" I am truly excited about what this group's creative juices will stir up. Now here's the project details...
Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Discovery Inspections, LLC
What type of product or service do you offer?
Property inspections that include presales, warranty and new construction inspections for both commercial and residential applications
How long have you been in business?
10 years
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
Ten years ago I had a logo created. It can be found at www.DiscoveryInspections.com. It's very difficult to transfer to an embroidered shirt. It's also a bit cartoonish (maybe because I'm 10 years older now!). A professional, eye-catching presence that depicts what we service we provide. It should be one that is memorable. We want our logo to present itself as a sharp, high-impact, visual image that is identifiable with a professional company.
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
March 5th
Audience Profile:
Real estate professionals (agents, brokers, attorneys, lenders), investors, buyers and sellers
Please describe your existing audience
New home buyers, empty nesters, repeat customers (industry statistics suggest Americans change real estate every 5 to 7 years), real estate agents, military personnel
Who would you like to add to your audience?
Investors who may not quite understand the value of a third party inspection
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
I don't want so much detail in the logo that it can't be embroidered easily on a uniform. I want clients to look at it and think how much thought, creativity, and detail was taken to just pick a company logo...this should translate to the care I'll receive on an inspection.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
I'm open to anything except neons. I don't much like brown.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
It is very important for the logo to illustrate what we do since our name doesn't necessarily convey what kind of inspections. One thought I had was an inspector figure lifting the roof off a house to look inside...or possibly lifting/tilting the entire structure to examine the foundation. There seem to be a lot of designs that have magnifying glasses. The concept is good, but it may be overplayed.
Communication Strategy:
Image is so important to us. It begins with our inspectors' uniforms, posture, and dialogue. Like UPS, we wash our vehicles prior to dispatch. This logo design is a critical component of who we are. The winning design must reflect our attention to detail. I am not asking to create a complex design. The Nike swoosh is so simple, yet so effective. Unfortunately, we don't have the financial depth to back a similar marketing campaign. The service we provide to our customers will be refected in the logo itself (that's our job). Simply give us a design that can help us create a professional identity so our customers (both current and prospective) are apt to solicit our services.
What is your tagline or slogan?
Because You Deserve to Know
Where will your new logo be used?
Website, printed materials, vehicles, and embroidered uniforms
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
www.housemaster.com Fair
www.amerispec.com Fair
www.pillartopost.com Good except colors
What sets you apart from your competitors?
7 day a week scheduling, online uploading of computerized reports, inspectors able to deliver information in an informative, yet non-alarming manner
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Detailed, certified property inspection company that provides consistent world-class service.
Thank you and good luck to all of you! I'll commit to providing routine feedback on your proposals.
