Hello Designers,

I am the owner of LS2 Port Works - a business that caters to the owners of high-end General Motors products such as the Chevrolet Corvette, Cadillac CTS-V, Pontiac GTO, etc.

I have a website that is in it's infancy, but is still effective. I will eventually revamp all of it, but am first testing the waters with commissioning a logo.

I would like you to visit my website and see what I do...

http://www.ls2portworks.com

This may help you find the right logo for me. I need to select a designer no later than 23 March. I need to go final on the logo shortly thereafter.

Project Summary:

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
LS2 Port Works

What type of product or service do you offer?
I provide modification of factory engine components that increases the power of the engine.

How long have you been in business?
Since 2006

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
To obtain a striking, but simplistic logo, that is easy to spot in the crowd even at reduced size (like forum sponsor icons!). I already have solid work and reputation. I need the logo to give it a professional appearance.

What are your long term goals?
To continue to offer affordable performance alternatives that incorporate a measure of stealth. I am always taking on new projects and new platforms.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? March 23rd.

Audience Profile:

Please describe your existing audience.
My customers own high end performance cars and trucks from General Motors. They wish to obtain parts that are discreet and provide a proven horsepower gain.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
All potential customers who seek more power from factory stock appearing parts!

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:

What type of logo would you like?
Something simple that will translate well to a printed decal

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Blue, Black, White
OR
Orange, Red, and Black

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
I'm open to ideas. I know I am not looking for a gear as part of the logo. I'm also not fond of the checkered flag as it is a very over used icon.

Communication Strategy:

What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Precision
Discreet Power
A thinly disguised "edge"
Reliable
... that sort of thing.

What is your tagline or slogan?
Proven Measurable Affordable
Horsepower Solutions

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
With my products you can have more power than stock but retain the stock look as well as retain your factory warranty.

Where will your new logo be used?
On my website and other internet forums such as...

www.LS2PortWorks.com
www.LS1GTO.com
www.corvetteforum.com
www.LS1tech.com

Competitive Positioning:

Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?
I am at the top of my market. My only competitors do not specialize in what I do. It is a secondary offering at best for any of them.

List competitive URLs if possible
Similar business logos are present on the forums linked above, but none are direct competitors.

What sets you apart from your competitors?
Commitment, customer service, competitive and affordable price, and proven performance verified by many independent tests.

Targeted Message:

State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
Proven Measurable Affordable

I hope these comments can get us off to a great start!

Best regards,

Cory Harris

Thanks for going first, OffbeatDesign. I like the simple and clean offering. I would like to see it with "LS" the same color and the "2" with the other color. No real preference as to which color is where.

This is a good start, I can't wait to see what you all have to offer.

Thanks. Here it is both ways. Also added a gradient to give it some variation.

I'm definitely liking version 3. The color seems to blend better going light to dark that way. Thanks for the new options!

I'm still anxious to seem some additional clean sheet designs. Come on designers! :)

Designers,

This is the last week... I need a designer by Friday, 23 March and final revisions shortly thereafter. I would like to see some additional concepts before I make my selection. Please post up some choices. Looking at other threads, I see some great ideas and some very nice work from several designers. I look forward to seeing similar work on my logo.

Thanks again to OffbeatDesign for going first and being the designer to beat!

Hello Cory,
Here's my first attempt :)

Thank you, Virgil.

Virgil,

Thanks for the submission V01. Can you show me this with the "lower tail" of the "S" blended smoothly into the bottom of the "L"? Please make that change to all three you've shown. The gradient on the lower one is interesting. Please make it fade as it is across the "LS" as one unit.

Thanks!

Cory

Djaka,

Thank you for the submissions. Of those #2 has my interest. Can I see it with some bolder colors? I like the orange of the LS2. But the red is a little too sedate for the motorsports angle. The "mauve" tone likewise will not work. Maybe a palate like that which exists in flame would be best- Red, Orange, and a yellowish orange would work.

I also would like to see it with the "wings" that are attached to the "L" and the "2" separated from the letters by some black. Just a little more definition.

A very good submission!

Titania,

Thanks for coming through with your #1 submission. I like the elements. Can I see it slightly differently? I would like to see the "tail" of the "L" blend smoothly into the "tail" of the "S". Probably make them slightly shorter as well. Then I would very much like to see the "2" inflated just as it is, just larger so it goes from top edge to bottom edge. I like the simple, race inspired palate. I also love the way the #2 is almost like an 8-ball.

Thank you again for the great first shot!

NHR,

Thanks for the submission V01. It's not really what I'm looking for though. Theres just something about the inflated "S" that isn't grabbing me. If I were going for a "road race" inspired logo that would be supreme with a more curvy road like "S". But thats not where I'm going :(

Thanks again for the submission!

Congratulations to Taldo! Your design really grabs me and is the bold look I was after. I could not have arrived at that design on my own, nor could I have asked for it. But seeing it is like knowing "it's the one". Thank you for that!

There were many great submissions and I appreciate all of them. I truly like the submission from Freetime. That was a classic race decal type logo that was rock solid. Thank you again to Offbeat design. You were definitely in the top 3 choices with your rev 2. A very good performance for going without the benefit of seeing what others submitted.

I am thankful to have been able to choose from such a great selection. Thank you again to all the designers!

Moderators, please move this to the revisions phase!

Hi Carol,

I'm happy with the way the design looks as is. I guess the next step is that you send me the files?

Also, I will need some follow on work. Are you able to provide this logo in some different sizes for internet use? I will need to have some banners and icons made. Please let me know if you can do these and I'll make the further payment arrangements.

Thanks,

Cory
