Hello Everyone,
After spending many hours of surfing contest on Design Outpost, I was amazed of the work by many of the artist. And not only do the designer have great skills, but they have professional attitudes and there are no conflicts. So, I strongly feel, that Design Outpost and the designers will design a very nice business card for my business in a quick and happy way.
Contest Prize: $50
Would like a HORIZONTAL Layout. Size should be a normal business card. (3.5 x 2 inches, i think)
Company: TropicalHost.net (Web Hosting Company) If you are wondering why I choose Tropical, is because I need a easy to remember name for my local customers.
Project: Double Sided – Full Color Business Card Design
Please view the attachment for the logo.
Front Side: Front side of the business card I would like it just to have out company logo. Would like the logo on a nice solid background color that will go well with the logo.
Back Side: Must have the following, the order does not matter.
Patrick Khajehtoorian
CEO/ Founder
Cell: 408-202-1014
Fax: 408-268-4546
Web Hosting Starting at $10/Month!
Patrick@tropicalhost.net

A slogan with a tropical theme would be good. ;)
Having illustrations of a palm tree leave or something is totally cool.
Just need something very professional, and the information/wording is not cramped.
Contest Ends September 25th. (Early if I choose a winner before 25th)
Everyone Please Feel Free To Join. You never know, your design could win ;)

coredesign: Thanks for your compliments on my new logo. I love it too ;)!
a. I like the idea of the front side, solid color. But i do not think that dark blue flows well. I think lighter colors look best (baby blue, light grey, etc)
b. Don't like the colors on back side, and the flower theme.
Nice Design Concept Though. Keep it Up.
Thanks,
Patrick
(edit) Please look at the attachment, i made those. Take a look at the light color theme (edit)

Edit: by the way, I love that logo. out of interest, who did it? :)
Patrick

coxy: My illustrator and I made it. I came up with the design and idea, and he made it in Adobe Illustrator (he is very talented in illustrator). We also provide high-quality illustration/cartoon logos for stores (restaurants, clothing shops, etc)
About your entry: Front side looks fine, but the back-side is too plain. <_<
Also, making the wording bigger to state the point that we offer web hosting starting at $10/Month, would be great ;)
But, Keep up the great work!
Info: I already know that the front side of the business card looks awesome with just the logo, the part that made me come to designoutpost was basically to have someone design the back of the card. Thats the hard part, but stick in there.

coredesign Thanks for Asking this question. You can add anything on the back of the card, palm tree leaf, coconut drink, beach, and etc. Thanks for clarifying that.
You can use anything.... Whatever ever makes the back of the card look nice!
Thanks,
Patrick

cre8or: Nice Entry. The fingers of the women, looks icky. If you can fix those up, would look cool. Maybe make the wording and text on the business card look more involved and alive. Also, maybe try a different color than Purple for text. Also, add a cool shape with a solid color like you did on the front side.
But, nice entry.
Thanks,
Patrick

Robert: Sorry, not liking it. The back of the card looks sloppy
Patrick, her name is not Robert. :)
Also, you are upset because you are not getting enough entries yet your comments are rude. Personally If I spent a good amount of time on an effort and was told it was "sloppy" I would be a little upset.
Could you possibly give some better, more constructive criticism? Maybe they need more direction. Please be specific, it will only help them get you what you want.

Hello
Here is my entry,
sorta retrolicious...

rabbitdog: I am not saying anything about your work, just from a business card preview, I am looking for something to be easy to read and clear. With all those curly lines makes it just hard to read and not clear.
Palmer: I have no idea where i got "Robert" from
Huhhso: AWESOME! Front Page Design! I really like that!!
Can you try lighter colors? Light Baby Blue, and another light color (silver, yellow, light dark white)
About the back: Like the palm tree scene, maybe make the palm tree a really really light color, so it looks like a backround, but does not really stand out.
Can you try to make the text larger?
Thanks,
Patrick
Huhhso

A softer shade of tropical
Patrick
09-16-2003, 09:28 PM
Huhhso: Try to use the blue color I showed in the example...I guess white or light grey does not look good. Maybe make the back of the card a solid light white color with a palm tree as a bg (starting from the corner point) and then the text.
Huhhso

Use of combination of Blues...

Huhhso:  Back side layout/design looks good. The only thing that need to be worked on it the text posistions and font.
Front: Can you make the logo a little bit bigger?
Thanks,
Patrick

Sure. That's not a problem. I think everyone who is planning to enter has, but extending the deadline is fine.
