 Hi, Everyone!
We are creating a website a lot like designoutpost with the exception that we are custom designing tattoos!
This site will NOT be a dark, gothic site. It will be contemporary and bright. Although our main audience will be 18-34, we hope that all age groups will find this to be appealing and inviting. Our site will be skinartdesign.com.
I really have no preception of this logo so I'm excited to see ALL types of design ideas; mascots, lettering, abstracts...bring it all!
This is quite a rush job so I'll be available on and off all day, each day to keep this moving quickly.
I've used you guys 3 times before and I love the process. I'm excited to get started again.
Thanks!
Missie

Hi Missie,
Please answer these questions http://www.designoutpost.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7819 and then copy and paste the questions and answers into a message here in your Project. This will help the Design Team better serve your project. Thank you

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo? Skin Art Design

What type of product or service do you offer? Custom Tattoo Design

How long have you been in business? New

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity? Set the tone that we have something to offer every taste, not just to confirm any tattoo stigma

What are your long term goals? To be the one to set standards by for design

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer? Open

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience. 32% of 18-34 yr olds have tattoos...I think that's a good place to start! :)

Who would you like to add to your audience? 34 and up

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like? I really have no preception of this logo so I'm excited to see ALL types of design ideas; mascots, lettering, abstracts...bring it all!

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?) No preconcievied ideas

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo? No

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

What is your tagline or slogan? Don't have one

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

Where will your new logo be used? Online, shirts, etc

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos? tattoojohnny.com is something similar..logo is cute but a bit too cartoonish and I don't like the bad-boy indication.
tattoodesign.com - too plain and boring
tattoodles.com - not bad but not very imaginative

List competitive URLs if possible - none

What sets you apart from your competitors? No one else is doing things quite like this.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company: tattoos for those who thought they couldn't ever find something for them

Pracus,
I'm not sure I like this. Let's add more flair to the design and try not using red in quite that way...I don't want people to associate it with blood! :weep:
Thanks for getting things started.

Logoholic,
I like that Skin Art stands out but the D doesn't look like it belongs. I do like that something is there but the D doesn't do it for me. Can you add more color? Perhaps some blues?

Pracus,
I see what you are going for but for some reason all I see is a woman with one eye. It's a good thing there's not a Shrink around to diagnose that! Can you incorporate your image with the S A? This isn't a requirement but just an idea to try.
Thanks for your efforts!

NHR,
I like the design a lot. I don't like the way the top of the A looks like sissors and I'm not crazy about the stars around the SA. May I see a different color combo? Perhaps a bit more colorful?

misdavis
04-01-2007, 03:31 PM
Kaimere,
Thanks for joining in! Although I do like your design, it's really focusing too much on the bad-boy tattoo style. Do you have any ideas on bringing in the more mainstream demographic?

misdavis
04-01-2007, 03:43 PM
Pracus,
I like the SA design a lot better. What's still not right with me are the colors. Could we try using more colors you see in tattoos? A bit more bold? I understand you going for the "gallery-ish" look but can we see what a more cursive font would look like? It may be too much with the type of SA you are using...

misdavis

Hi, Taldo!
This is really on the masculine side and I would really like to be more in the middle since a large population of those getting tattoos now are women. I'd love to see another idea.
Thanks so much.

Pracus,
I so appreciate the effort but this just isn't working for me and I don't want you spinning your wheels. Can we go in a different direction, perhaps without the boxy graphic...more free flowing? I apologize that I'm not giving you a better indication of what I'm looking for. I'm not sure I know myself but I appreciate your patience with me.

Kaimere,
I like this graphic better. I think the others are a bit too abstract as well.
Can you add something like "kin" in much smaller letter at a diagonal going up and to the right after the "S" and "rt" going in the same direction? I don't know how this would look but I thought we could give it a try.
Thanks for your continued efforts!

From your version 2, I know you are giving her a new hair do...is there anyway to incorporate a man on this? I don't want too much to look at but I would really like the masculine side to this.

BellaDonna,
Thanks for the revisions. Having both there is too much and looks more like a hair salon logo than a tattoo logo. While I really like the one with just the girl, I still think it's reaching only the the female perspective. What I like about yours is that you have the .com. I'm not sure where to go from here. Any ideas?

misdavis
04-04-2007, 04:15 PM
quetizo,
The logo itself is nice to look at but I don't see a tattoo site or a .com in this. Do you have another idea we can look at?
Thanks!

misdavis
04-04-2007, 04:17 PM
Hi Deanna!
Thanks for joining in. There's something about your logo that I actually can see a tattoo site in. I don't like the way you have Art though. Can you change this aspect and somehow work in a .com?

misdavis
04-04-2007, 04:19 PM
Blesseville,
Welcome. :) I like the font you chose but I don't care for the graphic or that design is on top. I find it a bit confusing if I didn't know the name of the site. Do you have something else or a modification to this we can look at?
Thanks so much!

Different approach: male side, represented by the dragon + is a tribal + is an S :D

Deanna,
I like these last two very much. You are definitely stating this is a tattoo site but it's very tasteful and it gender neutral. Here's the scoop. On the ver 2, I like the tattoo style band and the fact that I can probably stretch this across the entire header of the site. I'm not crazy about the font. .Com looks like it is forced in there and doesn't flow. I think it need a bit of color.
Ver 3, I like the color and the way the site name flows. I like this tattoo style band even better. I'm still not crazy about the font and the part around the top of the graphic looks odd to me. All in all, I think I like version 3 better with the few exceptions mentioned. You are definitely on to something.

Jeff, I like the sun concept since it's very tattoo-ish and gender neutral. I would really like some color though.
