Project Summary:

(In the attached screendump, you can see our own feeble atempt. Even though the logo isn´t nice enough to use, maybe you can see what we are aiming at?)

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Scalecar Garage

What type of product or service do you offer?
High quality miniature car models / replicas (Internet shop)

How long have you been in business?
The business is just starting up

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
The logo should reflect the fact, that Scalecar Garage deals with high quality models. The models are not toys but

limited edition collector items. We have tried to keep the design of the page clean without too many colors and

unnecessary details - we would like the logo to follow the same guidelines.

What are your long term goals?
To be the leading Internet dealer of scalecar models, and to establish a reputation of a trustworthy shop with a

deep knowledge about the cars.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 14 2007

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience:
Collectors who seek out the finest, most detailed scalecars.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Clean, simple, not too many colors or details.

The logo can reflect the fact that we deal in miniature cars, but please don´nt overdo it (no detailed drawings of

cars). You could also (as seen in our own sketch - attached) use the garage-theme (again in a subtle way please).

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
The logo should fit in well with the rest of the page (see attached screendump), and should look nice on the black

background. The logo should be about the same dimensions as the sketch (not too high, as the logo is to be placed on

top of the header graphics). As a second priority the logo should look good on the stationary.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
Agaign you could include icons from the car og garage theme, but make it subtle please.
The font could suggest the car theme, but must on the other hand be clean and cool.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Clean, modern, high quality, trust, passion for cars

What is your tagline or slogan?
Nothing decided yet.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
At Scalecar Garage you fnd the finest, high quality scalecars available. We share your passion for cars, and will do

our best to serve you.

Where will your new logo be used?
Mainly on the main website (at the shown spot above the header graphics), on stationay and maybe in banner ads.

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

https://www.modelenium.co.uk : We like the sketch of a car, but it is too dominant. We doubt that a car can be used,

and at the same time achieve the cool clean look (you are welcome to try to change our minds)

What sets you apart from your competitors?
We specialize in high quality cars - not toy cars. We have a deep knowledge about the cars, which we share with our audience. I think we´ve said it all above: High quality reflected in a clean look and a clean logo

If you have any questions - please dont hesitate to ask.
We will follow up on a dayli basis, and comment on all of the designs

Happy drawing!

Hello to you all

Thank you very much for your contributions!

Below are our comments on the contributions:

Djaka:
We really like your contribution - It improves very much on our own sketch, and keeps well with the guidelines we supplied.
Thank you for posting the three variations. I think we will use the same one on the web and in printed productions. Of the three we like the first one (with the gradient) the best - very nice indeed. We also like the fact, that the logo follows a single baseline (the last G is a capital letter).
Suggestions: Could we see the logo on a black background, with and without the reflection?
Could we also see som variations on the degree to which the garage (the A) is opened (half open and almost closed) ?
Again thank you very much.

Logoholik
You have also produced a clean, good-looking logo, that stands well with the rest of the page. We like the garage-icon in front, but maybe it isn´t a 100% obvious that a garage is depicted? Also we are a little bit concerned with the use of three different colors (orange, white, bold white).
Do you think, that we could see some variations on the garage-icon and on the use of colors ?
Thank you very much

Djaka
(just noticed, that it was you again)
As menioned in the guidelines we were a bit afraid of too detailed drwings of a car. I´m afraid we still se it this way, and prefer the first more clean contribution, both regarding font and style. What could maybe be taken from the last contributions is the use of a rounded rectangle (as in a license plate) around the logo. I don´t know if it adds too much complexity to the logo though.

Thanks again to the both of you - we appreciate your contributions (and your patience with my poor english) very much.

Thanks for contributing with the variations. I´m afraid the icon doesn´t work well enough with the people I´ve asked about it. Maybe the garage could be depicted in another way?

I´ve visited your site, and I love what you´ve done for:
e2 Solutions, Magnetic Sounds, blue mist and Prexo.

I would love if you would give it another shot as I really admire your work. Thanks again for your contributions.

P.S: To you and others:
Our own sketch was just to suggest a style, but the logo could be totally different than what we suggested. Feel free to venture far away form our own sketch :-)

Hello to you all!

First of all we are happy to so so many good contributions - thank you very much. :)

The contrubutions up until now has really helped us narrow down the direction we would like the logo to take.

Regarding colors, The use of a cool orange / blue seems to go well with the site, in which blue and orange are used
for highlighting texts. This isn´t to say, that we have locked ourself in on these colors, but just that our first impression of this colorscheme is positive.

Regarding the format of the logo the single-line logo (not too high) also seems to work well on top of the header graphics.

When it comes to Fonts we really like the use of capital letters (but small and large capital letters like djakas contribution, since it eliminates the last g getting below the baseline (hope this makes sense)

We have finally decided on the header graphics to be used (for a start at least), so maybe you could consider if the
logo would fit in well in the context. (see attachment)

These were the general remarks for know

Here are our comments for the last contributions:

Blesseville:
The car has as little detail as possible (as we asked for), but even though, I think we have desided against using concrete images of a car or a garage, and prefer icons that suggest these themes instead.

Djaka:
Thanks for the revisions. Of the versions up until know, we prefer the half-open garage, the gradient version (top one) and the one without the reflection. We have tried inserting the logo into our page, and the blue/orange sits well with the rest of the page, but maybe the logo is a bit too dominant in the colors. Maybe we could see a version with a bit more luminance? Also, I think we´re aiming at a logo which is about 310 px wide, and in this resulution, the garage-A becomes a little bit fuzzy - do you think we could see a version with some fewer horisontal lines in the garage-A ? (Hope this makes sense).
We really hop e you´re up for these revisions - we still like your contribution.

NHR:
Thanks for the contribution. We really like the simplicity of the logo, and the concept is great, but we´re a bit afraid of the format. I don´t know how it could be done, but do you think it would be possible to make the logo single-line / less high? (We know that this collides with the concept)

Ratbaggy:
Thanks for the contribution. The idea of a pictogram in front of the text is great, but maybe it has a bit too great detail to it?. Also the logo has a great simplicity to it (like we asked for) - but maybe some variation could be put into the text ? (like the use of two colors)

Again thanks to you all - we´re sure we´ll end up with at great logo

Hello to you all again

Here are todays coments :-)

Pracus:
The red and the orange looks very well on the black background. The icon in the front reminds me a little bit of the Playstation logo, but nothing too serious. The logo has the disadvantage that the orange shadow goes below the baseline - would it be possible to incoorperate the orange in the Icon in some other way ?

Offbeat Design:
A nice logo too. We like the idea of the surrounding white frame, penetrated by the G´s in Garage. This creates a solid baseline. Do you think it would be possible to see a version with brighter blues and oranges and with a gradient in the text ?

Freetime
Really nice bright colors. The CAR / SCG are a bit dominant or too detailed for our taste i´m afraid. Maybe a grill of a car or a stylised garage could be used insted?

Those were the comments for now. I hope we´re not to difficult to please, and that the comments are helpfull guidelines.

A good day to you all

Hello to you all.

I´m sorry it´s been a while since my last comment.

Thank you very much for the revisions and the new contributions.

The contributions are all very nice, and any one of them would be a good choice. However we are very fond of djakas contribution, and it would´nt be fair to ask for any more revisions, of the ones we have decided against.

Djaka do you think we could see the revision mentioned earlier:

Of the versions up until know, we prefer the half-open garage, the gradient version (top one) and the one without the reflection. We have tried inserting the logo into our page, and the blue/orange sits well with the rest of the page, but maybe the logo is a bit too dominant in the colors. Hello to you all (and djaka)

The choice has been made, and we are going to go ahead with djakas design. Thanks to all of you for contributing!

djaka, Actually i think for the header logo we would like to use the thinner version (like the middle one in your last post), but using the gradient colors of the top one. We tink the top version gets a bit too blurry.

I dont know if this is the forum, but I was just wondering in what format I will receive the logo. Illustrator would be preferred.

Thats it for know
