Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Long version: Research Baseball inc.
Short version: RBi (notice lower “i”)
What type of product or service do you offer?
This will be for a site we are starting www.researchbaseball.com which will offer stats of the game going back to 1871.
How long have you been in business?
Just starting. We have been incorporated for two weeks now.
What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We want to offer a logo that will stick in the minds of our visitors, there are a few rather large baseball stat sites. We plan on competing against these monster sites from the start of our site being complete.
What are your long term goals?
To be THE site that everyone visits to get the information they are needing when it comes to baseball statistics
When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 20th. This will allow everyone plenty of time to enter. But once we see the logo we like, we reserve the right to shorten the contest. When we decide to shorten the contest we will give notice so any designers who are currently working on a design, or any who care to enter on the last minute.
Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Sports fans of all ages.
Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Something hip, something clean. We want to leave the logo creation to the design team, but currently we are liking the idea of using the initials RBi. Since it has it’s own meaning in the baseball stat world. So it would be nice to see both RBi and Research Baseball inc. in the logo versions.
Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
As far as colors go, we're open to anything. Please be adventurous in your choice of colors. Just do whatever feels good. But keep in mind as stated above… Once we see something we like we will let everyone know. This includes the color scheme of the logo design. Until we see the perfect color combination we will leave this area open for the designers.
Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?
We have brainstormed on this topic a lot over the past 2 weeks. It would be easy to add some sort of baseball related icon. Equally easy to add a research related icon. The only thoughts that we had in mind was a simple idea. This is not required simply an idea…
A baseball setting next to the “R” in “RBi” and a magnifying glass covering 1/3 of the ball.. the threads on the ball are normal sized, but when you see the threads through the magnifying glass the threads are bigger… simple concept, and might not look that good.
Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
We are just looking to a logo that will display a high level of professionalism.
What is your tagline or slogan?
We currently do not have one, but if someone thinks of something clever… we are open for suggestions.
What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?“This place is legit”
Where will your new logo be used?
On the header of our site, in promotional banners, and in other marketing campaigns.
Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

Logo offers nothing.
http://www.baseball-almanac.com/
the recently redid their logo… and it looks nice… for what it is… It totally has the “almanac” thing going… isn’t our style at all it isn’t crisp enough… nor is it print friendly.

No logo used.

appears to have been created in MS Paint.
In general, baseball stat sites currently get by with rather plain-looking image logos. Most visitors don't take much time to notice the logo while researching the data. By using Design Outpost, I hope to bring something a little more original to help us out since we are a start up company competing against the monster sites.
List competitive URLs if possible
Done.
What sets you apart from your competitors?
Visit the above sites and tell me… is it organized? Is it simple to read? Search? The answer to most visitors would be a simple “NO!” We want to change that. We want to offer statistics without all the annoying misleading links… ads and jumbled layouts.
Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:
