Project Summary:

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
Vyooh

What type of product or service do you offer?
Vyooh is a creative and innovative software company that makes software products for visualization and management of computer systems and IT infrastructure. We currently offer two products, DiskView and SplitView, and plan to add more.

DiskView is a disk space usage and health visualization tool that is unique because it integrates into Windows Explroer completely.

SplitView Increases productivity by making it easy to work with multiple applications side by side. It helps make full use of high resolution monitors and gives the benefit of dual monitors without their associated cost. SplitView is perfect for deploying Citrix and Remote Desktop with dual-monitors, and is finding use in many small as well as large (Fortune-500) companies.

Our future software products are likely to have aspects related to information visualization, visual analysis etc.

You can get more information from our website - http://www.splitview.com/company.htm

How long have you been in business?
Since 2004 – 3 years now

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?
We need to create an identity that exudes confidence in customers. We are ambitious and will use this logo as our visual identity. The Vyooh logo will indicate creativity, visual clarity and quality. It should put Vyooh in the same league as established software companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Autodesk, etc.

What are your long term goals?
Establish Vyooh as a creative, established and respected software company, with innovative products of use to both businesses and consumers.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
May 30th

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience
Our most important customers are business customers, ranging from small one-person consultancies to many global corporations and Fortune-500 companies.

We also appeal to home users and power-users, especially those in the graphic/information visualization fields, those with lots of files to manage, and those with large monitors or multi-monitors.

Who would you like to add to your audience?
I would like to add more business users, IT administrators, and power-users.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
One with visual clarity, clean and confident. Something that will be used as our visual identity.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Will be used on a White background.
I would like to avoid brown, red and earth-tomes. I like blue, green, maybe orange/yellow.

At the same time, I’d like to consider all options. Sometimes, I may like what I think I wont like :)

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Idea:
With its origins in Sanskrit, the word vyooh, pronounced "view", represents an arrangement, structure, or pattern. In the same spirit, Vyooh provides arrangement and structure to information assets using visually elegant informative patterns.

If the Vyooh logo can catch the essence of this, it would be great. This is just an idea, but I’m not too adamant about this.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
Creativity, visual clarity, quality, confidence

What is your tagline or slogan?
None at the moment.

We used ‘visualize with oomph’ earlier but are not sure if it gets the right message across. Also, it was tightly coupled with visualization (DiskView) but our product offerings will go beyond visualization. No tagline is needed for logo.

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
Vyooh is an established software company, with innovative software products that solve business problems efficiently and effectively.

Where will your new logo be used?
Web site, software interface, letterheads, office stationary, business cards, email signature, promotional leaflets and whitepapers

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

We are competing globally with all software companies, big and small.

We are also competing with a new breed of companies – Web 2.0 – I think many of the Web 2.0 logos have become quite standard/cliche, and need something different and timeless – something that will last beyond the current Web 2.0 hype, and remain as our identity 20 years from now.

What sets you apart from your competitors?

Creativity, Passion, Innovation, Ease of Use, Quality and agility.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

Creative, quality software with a visual aspect

I think the ideas so far are very good, but I would like to see more options.

How about using a spiral or group of spirals?

Vyooh(or 'vyuha') is also associated with a maze in the Mahabharata epic - "It is referred to in Indian tradition as Chakra-vyuha, a name derived from a magical troop formation employed by the magician Drona at the battle of Kurukshetra, as recounted in the Mahabharata epic". Check-out the 'charka-vyuha' at this site - http://www.labyrinthos.net/typology_l.htm

I would like to see some options based on the concept of a maze or labrynth. If someone can give this a shot, it'll be great - thank you!

Logoholic - Can you try the same concept with flatter colors - the blue one seems to be dominating, and the grey is looking very neutral. Perhaps try CMYK but softer shades? I would also be interested in seeing variants in the font, and with the logo on the left of VYOOH.

Also like to see the ovals with just the outlines like in the smaller font on the botoom left.

I am wondering how five ovals would look - or three?

Pracus - I like the abstract 'V' - would love to see more such options. Maybe you could try integrating the abstractness in the logo-text itself.

I think V, y ,o, o, and h could be written using equilateral triangles or their extensions - was wondering if someone could try an option based on this idea

Blessville - thanks for your idea. I think the idea is a bit too simple but is a good starting point. I am not too fond of the red and black colors. Would like to see some major changes... but developing this line of thought.

Wow - lot of creative juices are flowing here. Thank you all for the options so far. I'd like to see some more, so if you have something else in your mind for this logo, pleaase let it out:)

@BlueCherryGraphics/Jennifer - I like your logo - Please show me some other color schemes, and maybe some variants.

@PickALogo - very interesting - but Io think some clarity is lost.

@Logoholic - I'm waiting to see your revisions! I liked your first stab it it, but I need to see some variants.

@Castell - I liked #1 but again, I think my suggestion of maze might have led to losing some clarity... would like to see some variant on the lines of #1 - the colors are good.

On second thoughts, blue and green is looking a bit dated and too commonplace now. I liked the colors of @Relevant and Castell #1

@Logoholic - thanks for the revisions. Love them both!

Can you try some other color variants for the flower? I'm not sure which one is better in Version #1 and #2... thanks!

Version #3 is also a strong contender!

@Logoholik - thanks for the updates.

I would like the colors of Version #2 modified such that the Grey ellipse is drawn in the color of the Green ellipse from Version #1, and the Yellow ellipse is drawn in the Orange color from Version #1.

@Freetime - Thanks for the options! I don't like the fonts used here...in Version # 5 and #6, the V looks plastered onto the rest of the logo. The Os with the inner portion solid isn't looking too good to me.

@Jennifer - thank you for the options. They look good!

@All - I love choices - if you have something different in mind - please give it a shot! It doesn't need to be 'complete'

@Logoholic - thank you! Let me stare at it the rest of the day:)

@Fabian - neat and distinctive! I'm not sure how to interpret the graphic as - a bird, or a 'V-neck', or...

Fabian

Great, you’ve hit the nail on the head. My aim was to create a distinctive logomark using a “V” like shape, that could standalone to represent “vyooh”.

vyooh
04-28-2007, 10:27 AM
@Logoholik - I'm leaning towards your logo (Version #6 and #7) so far.

I'm not sure if 'there's too much going on' in Version #7 with the O's in a different color.

At the same time, I seem to like the dark gray font over the black font in #6.

Can you provide a version with all leters dark gray (i.e. the Os also in the same dark grey color as V, Y, H)?

I like your designs in general - would like to get your opinion as to what will be better...

Hi Bojan,

I've shown the design around to friends, and it's been received very well!

Can you pack up Version #8, along with the Illustrator files, so we can tweak the colors a bit (if needed), and send them to me?

Thanks!
