(Admin code added by Palmer - 21034338HX875751Y , 64999586355132225 )

Ok, folks, I need this one quickly, unfortunately. I would love to see your creativity at work here. This is a banner, 160x600, advertising the launch of our line of luxury scented candles. Wording should be something to the effect of:

Experience the difference...of the finest scented candle in the world

Introductory priced at 40% off, through May 31, 2007.

Keep in mind, that I will need the banner to have that wording, and also without that wording (for when we are passed that date of May 31). I would love to see your ideas.

I'm looking for something VERY upscale and elegant. I will email an admin to upload the file, as it's too large for me to do myself.

Can I see it at the full 468x60?

OffbeatDesign
04-09-2007, 05:24 PM
That is 468x60. It's a long narrow banner.

Here's one without the fades and with the logo.

OffbeatDesign
04-09-2007, 05:26 PM
I can make it any size you want, but 468x60 is a standard banner ad size. Where is it being placed?

PerfumeHut
04-09-2007, 05:30 PM
Let's change this to a skyscraper that is 160x600. I thought 468x60 would work but, it's a bit too short/thin, to really make the impact that I want to make. I think maybe it's better to place it on the right or left hand side of the page on:

www.unlimitedperfumes.com

Does anyone know how to read that code (I'm clueless), to make sure it will fit on either of those sides?

Regarding the message received via the message boards, no logo was in the folder, just the candle image. Can you upload the file to the board? Thanks!

OffbeatDesign

Here's the skyscraper. Logo can easily be switched out. Thanks.

I tried to further strengthen the brand, by following the theme of the postcard that some guy designed you.

Keep em coming folks. We love what we see here so far.

A couple of observations.

We don't like the fake flames. First off, this is a double wicked candle, not a single one, and, we feel the fake flame kind of cheapens the look.

We are going for a very luxury/high end feel here, so, keep that in mind as well in your designs.

This one is directed at Fabian. We really want to see the entire picture...certainly at the very least, the actual candle, as opposed to just the box. We also like the reflection on the bottom, so, keep this in mind as well.

Any file size limitations i.e 50kb max or?

PerfumeHut
04-10-2007, 02:04 PM
I think 50kb max sounds good. I don't wanna slow down page load times too much.

I have a concern with certain entries that I like alot. For example, Offbeat's number 12, and several others that we really like alot.

We have a concern that the different parts load too slowly to be easily visible to someone who isn't spending TOO much time looking at the banner itself. I also don't want to speed up the animation for fear that it will look almost like a comic book type of thing. I want it to retain it's class/style/elegance, without it taking THAT long for the entire process to load.

Does anyone have any possible solutions to this?

OffbeatDesign
04-11-2007, 08:57 AM
None of these are moving so slowly that they won't grab attention. If someone is interested the whole loop takes about 5-10 seconds depending on the banner you're referring to. It's better to have it slightly slower than too fast where someone who is interested doesn't have time to read it. Also, the movement does tend to grab your attention which usually leads to more views.

OffbeatDesign
04-11-2007, 09:02 AM
Here it is without the fades. This cuts down on file size and reduces the rotation time to 5 seconds.

I should have my banner design for this project posted shortly. I have the Flash SWF ready, but am in the process of converting it to an animated GIF.

Thank you,
Susan Glasgow

Hello,

Again I have my banner ready as an SWF, however converting it to GIF makes the file much too large.
The SWF file is only 42 KB.
Here is a link to it:

Thank you :)

The negative to flash is that some people might not be able to view the banner, correct? I've got very limited knowledge of this stuff. Please advise if I am correct.

OffbeatDesign
04-12-2007, 01:20 PM
Most people can view Flash, but if they don't have the plugin it won't load.

Thanks to everyone who posted. We really like two designs and we would like to see a couple of revisions (minor ones) to each before we decide.

Offbeat - Message number 12 - I'd like to see you remove the very bottom strip of solid colored burgundy (the strip at the bottom right below the striped ones). I'd also like to see the picture of the candle/box a bit bigger, even if it means that it bleeds slightly off the sides of the page (like several other posts in this thread). I'd also like the wording on the final part of the offer to read "Intro. priced at just $12 through May 31, 2007"

Susan - Message number 45 - On the top and bottom, where you left a white section, I'd like to maybe see that in our PMS 222 (burgundy type) color, rather than in white. I'd also like the otpion (just to see which looks better) of seeing the "Pierre Rousseau Collection" and logo in our actual colors (as opposed to in white).

SGlasgow and Offbeat have agreed to split the pot with me adding $100 to the prize pool. I've emailed Palmer to finalize this.

I've PM'ed both designers with my email addy so that we can make some minor final revisions and finish this up.

Hi,

That's fine; just post a note in the thread once you've received all final files and we won't archive it until then.

Thanks! :)
