Greetings!

Well, I've had great luck with the work from here. So yet another project cometh!

Project Summary:
What text should be included in the main part of the logo?

nisusnet, any variation on capitalization is up to you... using the .com is up to as well.

What type of product or service do you offer?

Co-location (new), and clustered hosting.

How long have you been in business?

7 years (took us this long to get an actual site going. We've been hosting the nifty archive for a very long time, and keep getting business from it. Time to take it to the next level.

What do you hope to accomplish with your new identity?

See above. We're a simple company that offers good colo. Our growth has been 100% organic, from word of mouth.

What are your long term goals?

Growth. We are taking a large step.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?

We would like the logo to be completed ASAP. Part of the logo design will dictate a site design in the coming weeks.

Audience Profile:
Please describe your existing audience.

I am not quite sure. But my guess is that they are people that don't want to weed through pages of marketing blitz.

Who would you like to add to your audience?

It's fairly open. People will either like our philosophy or they won't. I'm not looking to change peoples minds or change what we are for them. Simplicity is the key.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?

I have almost no reservations about design, other than it needs to work in print, and online. The eventual theme for the site will be centered around clean, effective, clutter free design.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)

I'm partial to earth tones.

Do you have any specific images or icons in mind that you would definitely like to see incorporated into your logo?

Be creative!

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?

Simplicity.

What is your tagline or slogan?

None. But, since I seem to use the word so much, you could be creative with a tagline reflecting simplicity. But don't clutter the logo with taglines, that wouldn't be simplicity. :P

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?

I'll say it again. Simplicity. :P

Where will your new logo be used?

Web/Print

Competitive Positioning:
Who are your competitors and what do you think about their logos?

No opinion.

List competitive URLs if possible

www.steadfast.net
www.colo4dallas.com

What sets you apart from your competitors?

We have several years of building up something without a lot of overhead. The end result is that we are "re-starting" without having to buy a bunch of equipment and stuff. What was a group of guys that had a company, is now a company with a group of guys. If that makes sense.

Targeted Message:
State a single-minded word or phrase that will appropriately describe your company:

Simplicity.

Hi! here is one from me. Custom typesetted, simple but elegant, fresh but not too trendy :)

...and the horses are off!

So far, both designers are on the same page as me. Perhaps we can try a few more visual elements? Designer comments below:

Logoholik: That quite possibly be pushing the simplicity thing a hair too far. Perhaps there could be a hair more spice. Curious, with that typeset, would you be able to provide that, should I choose your design. Perhaps a variation or two with some staggered text...

Relevant: I like where your head is. Perhaps a few variations in font? Try similar colors to the above as well?

Good start guys! You guys did better on the first try than anything the design guy that I was going to work with did!

Relevant... WOW! Thanks for the big selection of fonts.

Offbeat... I like what you've got going there. Any ideas on how to make it more horizontal header/business card friendly?

To everyone that has yet to submit a design. I will probably make a decision later this evening/tommorow. If some of you have been afraid because of it being simpler than your tastes or what not. Feel free to throw anything in the hat. I was not trying to limit peoples creative control, just suggesting tastes of my own.

Sure. I'm assuming you mean version 2. Here are some variations. Thanks.

Offbeat, In V5, can you do anything to the container to make it look a little less like netscape's logo?

OffbeatDesign

Here's a hexagon container. I'm afraid that anything I do to the circle won't help since that's Netscape's main logo (white N inside a circle). Could do a square, but it's not as dynamic.

or with the extra outline for more definition

All of you guys have done great work. I'm still on the fence to some degree. But, I have decided to go with LogoHolik's version 3...

Thanks to everyone who submitted an entry. You made it a difficult decision!
