Hey everyone. I need someone to design a logo for me. I'm currently using my name in a specific font (bernhard modern)and style as my logo. I really like it but it's missing something.

I would love to keep my name the same if possible because it's hard to find a font and style that makes your name look good. But, I may be open to suggestions IF you can come up with a killer look.

My logo MUST be:

1.Clean
2.Elegant

My tag line is "artistic. elegant." so my logo must reflect that in some way as it should the rest of my work. The main reason I am going to use this is to watermark my images that I post online. I want some kind of symbol or something to go along with my name that can be used with or without my name to watermark the images. The problem with my name is that it's kinda long so it's hard to fit it on images as a watermark.

You can view my website at

www.jthrasherphoto.com (http://www.jthrasherphoto.com)

and my blog, which has some images displayed how I currently watermark them

www.jthrasherphoto.com/blog (http://www.jthrasherphoto.com/blog)

Here are some logos which I like or are used in a way that like

Logos I like (http://jthrasherphoto.com/DO/logos/)

and here is an example of my current logo

http://jthrasherphoto.com/DO/site_logo.jpg

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks

Jonathan

I thought I'd post some photos of my current brochure and business cards just so you have an idea of what I'm working with.

The brochure will be changing soon. The business cards will probably stay very similar to what they are now.

Thanks everyone

Deanna, not really the direction I want to go. I think it has to much of a clip art feel.

Logoholik - I think version one is very interesting. I don't care for all capital letters. I wouldn't mind seeing more variations. Not totally sold on it but possibly worth playing with more.

I don't really care for version two or three.

Blesseville - I prefer version 2.0 over 1.0 I think it's worth playing around with more as well.

Notes for all :

1) So far Besserville's version 2. and Logoholik's version 1 are my favorties. That gives you more of an idea of my style

2) I'm not completely sold on using only my initials since it's done so much with photographers. I'm not against it, but I might want to see if there are some other elements we can come up with.

3) I would like to be able to use the symbol or initials as a stand alone element to watermark my images. So it needs to be able to be used with my name and without it.

4) I don't want the logo to be color specific. My photographic style lends itself to using color and as you can see from my website, I like to be able to change color to match the images.

Thanks again everyone. good start so far. MUCH better than the last graphic design company that I hired.

looking forward to seeing more. Have a great weekend!

Jonathan

jthrasherphoto
04-23-2007, 04:48 PM
Logoholik, I like the added circle. although it's a little harder to recognize the initials. Maybe if there were variations of the size or shape of the letters?

I like the clean look though. do you have any other ideas?

also, don't forget to keep the "H" in my last name so it's not "Trasher" :D

jthrasherphoto
04-23-2007, 04:50 PM
Offbeat, I like the concept of version 2 but I don't care for the abstract feel. Is there a way to keep the concept but less abstract or hard edged, sci-fi feel?

jthrasherphoto
04-23-2007, 04:53 PM
logoholik, revisit your earlier version 3 too if you wouldn't mind. It still stands out a little to me.

Logoholik, can you play around with the initials a bit in version 6 so they are a bit more recognizable?

I liked the different tonal ranges you had in the rectangle of version 3, but I like the lower case letters in my name. Maybe a little more spacing in my name.

Logoholik, I like the version 10 a little better because of the font. The name seems a little scrunched though.

Blesseville, version 3 doesn't really stand out to me.

ok, I'd like to generate a little more interest in my project but not really sure how.

I added a couple more logos that I like to the link I posted in my fist post. Here's the link again

logos I like (http://jthrasherphoto.com/DO/logos/)

Blue Cherry Graphics - sorry I didn't comment on your design earlier. It doesn't really appeal to me that much. I don't care for the colors and I don't feel the font you used for the initials doesn't work well with the font of my name. I've seen more of your work on here though and I've liked other stuff you've done so I'd love to see other concepts you might be able to come up with.

Blesseville - your last design was nice as a concept, but doesn't really fit what I'm after. I'd love to see more non-initial elements, though. Maybe something with a vintage feel or Victorian, while still maintaining some masculinity, if that's possible. :) I still like your version 2 design and would like to see something else along those same lines.

Sorry if I'm not being very clear in my requests. I'll try harder. Hopefully we can come up with some more ideas.

Thanks

Fran, thanks so much for your post. At first glance it didn't work for me but after looking at it a little, I thought it has some possibilities.

Can you make the top of the J and the top of the T one line, kinda how Blesseville had in their version 2? I like the curve of the top line. If it were one line, it would almost look like the mathematical symbol for "pie". I don't know if I like the dots but maybe do a version with and without?

thanks

Blue Cherry I love version 5. love it. Can I see some variations with thinner lines?

also... no "H" in my name :-) And... I'd like to see how it looks with the font that I currently use. thanks!

Fran looks great. thanks for the fast response. I think I like it better without the dots. Can you show me what it looks like with my current font as well? Maybe also make the initials a little thinner? thanks!

Jennifer looking great! thanks. Can I see some more variations with even thinner lines on the initials? Maybe an ultra thin version. I think of course the thinner the lines go the closer the letters have to be together. I like how it looks now, I just want to make sure I look at it from different angles before proceeding.

Fran Also looking very good. Is there a way to make it look less scripty?

I did a VERY rough "sketch" to show you what I was thinking. If you wouldn't mind playing around with it a little. Of course it could be tweaked a little to make it look much better but it would give you an idea of what I mean.

looks good Jennifer.

I hadn't thought about this until now but it was brought to my attention that the "T" kinda looks more like an "r" is there a way around that? I really like it and even though I get it, I wonder if others will think the same thing.

thanks

I'd really like to see some more non-initial type logos.

Or if you have any other creative ways to make my initials look more like a symbol of sorts than initials.

jthrasherphoto
04-28-2007, 11:55 AM
Fabian sorry I didn't reply to your post.

I don't care for the font used for the initials or my name. It doesn't have an elegant feel to it.

Fabian - I like that a lot. can you make it so the letters aren't as bold or thick?

Jennifer - I personally still like the way you had it first. I am a little worried about the feedback I've been getting though that the T could be mistaken for an R.

Fran I still really like version 4. I've been getting feedback that it looks to much like the pi symbol though. It was my idea and I like it, but to much association with pi. :(

I'm not sure where to go from here. All the ideas that I've like, colleagues don't like. I want something that I know I love but want others to like as well. Sorry to drag this on, but I just want to make sure it's right. I've already wasted $250 on a design company that gave me nothing but crap. This time I need to make it work.

Fabian

Great, here is a thinned out version.

Went it comes to art all people have varied tastes, so generally it
is hard to get everyone liking the same thing. Often the best method to take is what design would represent you and get your message across?

Clear as mud:)

jthrasherphoto

I know I originally said I didn't really want to use my initials as my logo and that I wanted some other type of symbol but so far the concepts that have been submitted that I've liked the most have been initial type concepts. I've been very impressed with how using my initials could work.

However, I'd still like to see some more non-initial concepts. Maybe some vintage or Victorian shapes or lines?

As of right now my favorites are:

Logoholik version 3

Blesseville version 2

BlueCherry version 10

Fran version 4

Fabian version 7

Offbeat version 8
