Project Summary:
Need a logo to our small IT company. We are a startup company based in Europe.

What text should be included in the main part of the logo?
openware

What type of product or service do you offer?
We will be working in IT business as IS/IT consultants, process reengineering, software development and technical support, for small and medium companies mostly.

What are your long term goals?
Become a well established and respected IT company, with an innovative technological and organizational approach to small and medium businesses.

When is the deadline for final entries before choosing a designer?
April 30th

Audience Profile:
Our most important customers should be business customers, ranging from small one-person businesses to medium-large companies.
We won't neglect home users also, depending on their specific needs.

Perception/Tone/Guidelines:
What type of logo would you like?
Something with a professional and sober look but with a modern touch.

Do you have any colors in mind for your logo? (if so, why?)
Probably will be used on white backgrounds.
But transparent and white background versions would be nice.
Avoid gloomy colors such as greys and browns.

Communication Strategy:
What attributes would you like your logo to reflect about your business?
pragmatic, reliable, quality, confidence, strength, supportive

What is the overall message you are trying to convey to your target audience?
We are a new company, striving to help small and medium businesses - which have few resources - to gain competitive advantage through process rationalization, technology and internet.

Where will your new logo be used?
Web site, letterheads, office stationary, business cards, email signature, promotional leaflets, company car publicity, etc.

Hi
Very good design there. Clean and simple ideas.
Although I like that "wide" effect with the letters open in the first proposal I think the second one gives a more "robust" look of the company.

Could you please work on some alternatives, in shape as well as colors?

I would like to see more design proposals in these next few days in order to have a richer colection of "samples" to choose from.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks again for your patience and work.
Ok. Last one seems good also. Versions 2 and 6 are the ones I like the most, but could we try something a little bit more dynamic and/or different colors?
I like the blue/green combination from version 2. Two tones of blue doesn't feel so good.
What about a "compromise" between pragmatic/sober and dynamic in terms of the graphical part of the logo?

Thanks to all for your work and time.

-BlueCherry: version 8 better than 7. Would like to avoid grey though.

-freetime: very nice logo. Could you get me some more variants?

-SecretAgentRege: ok. I will be waiting for your ideas.

Things are getting thougher for us to make a choice.
Very good new entries.

-Freetime: we are still waiting for more variations of your idea(s), if possible.

-Rege: we are very happy with your approaches. And we appreciate being 3 "really" different versions. Gives us more to choose from.

-Logoholik: very good work. The idea of drawing an image/pictogram somewhat independent of the name is also a possibility. Thanks for remembering us of that. This also applies to Rege's 3rd version of course :)

Let's get more ideas please and remember: Pragmatic and dynamic. Solid company image. More color schemes also, if possible.
Thanks again.

It's great to see so much quality in your posts. We are sure we are going to find the perfect match to our new business.
Nevertheless we still have a few days and would like to get some more ideas.

-Logoholik: you did it again! Great design. Version 3 could be a winner.

-freetime: we think you got a little out of track. You first idea (version 1) was a closer approach.

-Offbeat Design: welcome and thanks. Good design. Could you give us some more variations and different colors?

Thank you all for your time and efforts.

-NHR: thanks. We get and like the idea. Would like to have more to choose from, if possible. One or two different aproaches and with different colors.

Now. Lets check where we are.

We still have 4 days and we already have some very good ideas from all of you. Thanks.

Until now our long shortlist ( :D ) include - in order of appearance - BlueCherry's version #2, Freetime's #1, Logoholics #2 and #3, Offbeat's #1 and NHR's #1 also.

We know it's still a "huge" list but we believe that we should keep our minds open until the end.

What we can also say is that we are now convinced that the best approach is to have a logo where the "graphical part" appears somewhat independent but can give at least an idea of the company name on its own as well as showing we are in the IT/internet business (best examples so far: Logoholik's #3 and NHK's #1)

Thank you all for your patience.

Offbeat Design: thanks for your new post. We think your 2nd version is much better than the first one.

Freetime: your new logo is nice but not quite what we are looking for. We think it lacks the proportion of formality we would like. Although we have been asking for dynamism, solidity/reliability should take the other half of the concept. You first logo seems better.

Thank you all. Any more ideas?
What we have in mind so far is the need for a logo considering...
1. openware combined with an "independent graphic"
2. "independent graphic" related to the name (if possible) and mixing 3 main ideas: Solid and Very Professional Company + Dynamic and Modern + IT/internet business

Hope we aren't turning too complex in our ideas :)

Hi nmpm,

Here's another I came up with.

Hello to all once more.
Thanks for your new logo Rege, but we think that little less "formal" than we expect.

Well, we will probably have to antecipate our decision because we would like to start thinking about business cards and stationary this weekend.

So, if there's anyone still willing to provide some more work untill tomorrow we would appreciate it. Tomorrow we will choose the winning logo and order new work over it.

Thanks to all. All of you were amazing helping us to find our way in terms of logo identity.

Ok. Today is the last day of our projects due date.
We will decide some hours later which logo we like the most and that's why we are posting this last message.
Is there any one interested in contributing with more ideas? We would appreciate so.
Later we will post our decision. :)
Thanks to all once more.
